Xavion... but what happened to its predecessor?

Alright, as I'm not a frequent visitor of useful webpages (I limit myself to Stumbleupon) I didn't know about Xavion until right now. Then I remembered - like a year or two ago Austin was busy making an actual certified avionics system that would do the same thing - is that still around?

Still happening. The difference there was rather than the iPad app the actual system is able to almost autoland the aircraft.

In regards to Xavion ver 1.57 and beyond, is it free to use as my x-plane aid for flight sim ? Where as real pilots pay the price for this wonderful iPad app?
