Whizzard Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 I have just installed x-plane 10 64bit yesterday and want to get involved in the community. I need to pick an aircraft that I can learn, preferably with auto-pilot, and using jets for long flights. I want to use xsqwackbox but it does not yet work with my version of x-plane. What is a good place to start as far as learning a new aircraft and joining a virtual airline/ online community to learn and contribute? What aircraft should I start with? I need to learn how to program in navigation from airport to airport and many basic things like that, I have the basics of flying down but struggle with some of the more complicated onboard computers in these aircraft. Any help would be appreciated, just point me in the right direction! -Whizzard Quote
Cameron Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 To be clear, would you rather a jet or turboprop? FMS, or not? Quote
birdy.dma Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 For Xsquawkbox, launch the 32 bits .exe. For your first flights, you can use the stocks planes. You can have a glance to this one: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/topic/4865-general-aviation-c172sp-wide-panel-project/ Then here is the right place: http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/ Flight planes:. I use Plan-G associated with Xpuipc and display the map and traffic on a second sceen. Do a Google search, as many softs are around there. Claude. Quote
steven winslow Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) Getting involved with a virtual airline with a student pilot program is a good idea. Some VA's have instructors and mentors who can help you with nearly all aspects of X-Plane. With that said, don't expect to be able to run before you can walk. There is a lot to learn if you are interested in creating a "realistic" experience. Check out http://www.airnorthwest.org . I know they have a student pilot program with the most diverse fleet around. Pardon the shameless plug! Edited March 29, 2013 by steven winslow Quote
