The G500 is crashing Xplane

I have a very stable Xplane setup, using xToolbox and xOrganizer so I only have stuff loaded I really need for a particular flight.

Yesterday I bought the G500, and since that I have crashes within an hour, even with the C172-G500 turned on, just sitting on the ground in that time.

Most often Xplane crashes completely, but a few times I have seen the G500 go blank but the rest of the plane still works. Here I can use Bat Master and Avionics 1/2 and everything reacts on that except the G500. Gizmo64 console and stats are completely blank.

I'm now down to a cleaned Xplane installation (no additional planes and scenery, but some essential plugins). I still see the xplane crashes.

What is going wrong here? Can I enable Gizmo64 logging somehow?

I'm not seeing anything in the log indicating what is causing this here unfortunately. Does it consitantly replicate at the same place in sim?

"Same place..." do you mean same geographical location or?

Initially I discovered this issue during flights. The last number of tests I did was just loading the C172/G500 at my home airport. Turn on Bat Master and avionics 1/2 (for other avionics), and the leave it there on the ground. Crashes still happened.

The first crash is during X-Plane shutdown. Try letting it sit in sim for at least 5-10 minutes, that is possible with Windows when the G500 is building its initial caches (Windows is really slow with file handling so can take a few minutes there)

Second log doesn't show the G500 installed or running.

It's 2025 and X Plane 12 and the G500 and G5 don't seem to be playing together well.

I purchased the G500 a few months ago and had been using the G5 for years.  Installing the G500,with only the X-Aviation 172 using the G500, I noticed my frame rate dropped significantly (the G5 was already installed) and then I couldn't keep X Plane running -- CTD (Crashing To Desktop).

No, I don't have any Log.txt as a system that was CTD is devastating and and had been down another company's help path where their advise was only to do a fresh install then only put plugins that I 'need' into X-Plane.  Errors in the pop-up windows were: G500 plug in, laminar Research 172 using wrong sound mod and a few other FMOD errors attributed to freeware aircraft. Somewhat bizarre. 

With a fresh install and no third-party anything--the G5 dropped me from near 50fps to 35fps, give or take.  Adding the G500, my frame rate dropped to to just above 20fps; and I completed the same procedure on two different drives.

After many attempts to identify the issue(s) with their process, I gave up.

Without the G5 or G500 installed I am operating without issue at 50FPS.

Things do happen and normally they're fixed.  Did X-Plane update itself away from the G500 and G5? Did I fail to install properly? 

Pay ware should work, period. I believe everyone would agree. 

I will greatly appreciate your support and advise.

It's not relevant. You posted in a 3 year old topic. They are wayyyyyyyy more than one of these units sold. I'm sorry you're having an issue, but let's not pretend that a CTD from 2022 is related to something not fixed in 2025.

This is not a known or widespread issue by any means. That sounds very strange, and is in fact the first time I've heard a description like this.

A log.txt file is generated in live time. You will always have a log.txt file available regardless of CTD.

It does sound like you're stretching resources thin here between fill rate on 3 monitors and potentially rendering settings within the sim.

It does work. That said, we also can't be liable for testing compatibility or clashes with every plug-in/addon combination in existence.

 

I can't quite tell if your issue now is related to low performance, or CTD's. It sounds like you've departed from having a CTD issue and are now just concerned with performance. What happens if you disconnect 2 of the 3 monitors FPS wise?
