themadgamer Posted January 25, 2021 Report Posted January 25, 2021 Hello, I was wondering where we submit any bugs for SkyMaxx Pro 5.04? I will attach a screen shot of black blocky clouds appearing when I flew out of KLAX. Thank you! I do have a few more screenshots as well if needed. Quote

Looks like one of our textures got blown away somehow... do you have any other add-ons installed that do rendering of their own? Quote
themadgamer Posted January 26, 2021 Author Report Posted January 26, 2021 (edited) I do not believe so, I just use this and Real Weather Connector. Here are a couple more angles. Edited January 26, 2021 by themadgamer Added More Quote
sundog Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 Hm, just went to KLAX here it and it seems to be rendering those clouds OK. So, seems it's one of those fun issues that's system or setup-specific. If you can post a copy of your log.txt it might tell me more about your system and the aircraft you're using, both of which might be relevant. Thanks for the report. Quote

Yea, I thought it was smog....lol...j/k I had awesome clouds the whole way to KPHX, so maybe just a glitch. My log is attached, and thank you for the responses. Log.txt 152.49 kB · 0 downloads My best guess is that it's somehow associated with the custom scenery for KLAX you have installed - maybe something in it is putting things into a state we don't expect. But it might be "just a glitch" of our own making and something that's just going to take awhile for us to reproduce and track down. I have seen a similar report of lightning suddenly turning black and it may be related to that same issue, which I'm also having trouble getting to happen. Anyhow it's on my radar... Quote

I will keep you posted if I come accross anything else. Other than that so far, all I can say is wow! I love how it looks so far! 1 Quote
ghun1 Posted March 1, 2021 Report Posted March 1, 2021 XP11.52r1 windows10 i9-10900 RTX2080 >40fps I liked v5 when it was released for the volumetric clouds. I have a problem whereby FSGRW reported weather does not show up correctly (reported elsewhere) and now during a flight over Norway (without FSGRW - using X-Plane real weather) the clouds have become visible in rectangular clumps with unrealistic edges. Any ideas what might cause this? Quote
sundog Posted March 2, 2021 Report Posted March 2, 2021 I assume you have RWC set to FSGRW mode... Looks like there isn't any weather data being provided to us beyond the coastline for some reason. If there's an unnatural hard cutoff in clouds presented us, that's what we represent. Might be more of an FSGRW issue, assuming everything is configured properly. When things look weird, it's often a good idea to select the "force weather update" option in the SMP menu. It's possible things are just out of sync in an odd way. Might help. Quote
ghun1 Posted March 2, 2021 Report Posted March 2, 2021 this was with x-plane real weather only. I had disabled all other except the real weather connector (selected for x-plane real weather). Quote

It may just be an isolated incident where something was missing or wrong with the METAR data downloaded by X-Plane, then. If it looks like this every time you fly though, there's something more we'll have to figure out. Also, if you have stopped using FSGRW, it's a good idea to manually delete the fsgrwsmp.rwx file it may have left behind in your X-Plane folder. Its presence can cause problems when FSGRW is not in use in some situations. Quote
ghun1 Posted March 31, 2021 Report Posted March 31, 2021 (edited) I have now switched to ASXP to see if its any better with SMP and RWC. I have RWC set to the correct option. Now my question is why I never see overcast skies. asxp shows: X-Plane correctly shows this: but with SMP and RWC I see: and if I disable both SMP and RWC (simply by deselecting them using the plugins menu in x-plane, and therefore using ASXP directly through X-Plane) I see the weather I expect to see: I have played around with SMP settings for cloud types, cloud coverage, overcast and other cloud textures all to no avail. I like the clouds in SMP but I never see an overcast sky. Any ideas that may help please? Gary PS almost forgot; regarding my previous screenshots of rectangular edges to clouds, I have encountered them in the vertical axis too : Seems to be intermittent and I cannot trace it to a particular region as its not reproducible by going back to the same place. ghun1 Posted April 1, 2021 Report Posted April 1, 2021 OK update to this: problem solved. I cannot say exactly what it was as I did a complete re-installation keeping my aircraft and custom scenery of course. Starting from scratch I now have everything working as expected. And I do prefer ASXP to FSGRW. Now I can see this: Quote
Cameron Posted April 1, 2021 Report Posted April 1, 2021 I believe what likely happened here is your old FSGRW SkyMaxx Pro METAR file was still in place, and so SkyMaxx Pro was reading that file instead of ASXP's. This is also why it was "solved" with a clean install of everything. Quote
