Kaphias
The 4th shot is simply stunning. What kind of equipment do you use?
flyinhawaiian
The 4th shot is simply stunning. What kind of equipment do you use?Thank you! I have an older Canon Digital Rebel XTi and was using a 55-250mm IS lens with a circular polarizer filter on it. I'd love to upgrade my equipment one day, but with the cost of my collective hobbies, I just need to make due with what I have!
Ben Russell
Cameras don't take stunning pictures, people do. And these are some gorgeous shots in the right place at the right time.
Simmo W
They are pro shots, particularly the timing and composition! Ok, really good equipment can make a difference, like an ultra bright lens, but your timing has produced some lovely shots. U saw the f22 in flight, they only had it shut down and surrounded by guards/dogs at Melbourne, a great impression that made
Lukasz
I'm always greatly impressed by photos showing a warbird in formation with a modern jetfighter. It's the best tribute to the power of old birds, even if the jet is cheating a bit with the flaps Last year a friend of mine photographed a Hurricane flying in pair with Tornado - it was impressive, even though the Hurry was at full power and Tornado almost in landing configuration
eaglewing7
The picture your asking about, it looks a lot like a modified T6 Texan. The landing gear bays have that classic round shape which gives it away, and the tail looks like a Texan as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love my camera and lenses, but something with a nicer sensor and sharper glass would be awesome! Just always looking for improvement. @Simon - I have a bunch more F-22 shots in flight on my Flickr page, feel free to take a look. The comparison of the fighters from THEN to the fighters of now is always amazing. Here's a shot from an airshow back home which I personally LOVE: The picture your asking about, it looks a lot like a modified T6 Texan. It definitely threw me for a loop at first, seeing its as heavily modified as it is. Very nice to look at, and probably a BLAST to fly! UH-60 Blackhawk
Great shots, especially love the shot with Blue Angel 5 and 6, absolutely perfect timing. And props to the 22 pilot who actually kept control and didn't destroy the Mustang with jet blast at such low speeds.
flyinhawaiian
And props to the 22 pilot who actually kept control and didn't destroy the Mustang with jet blast at such low speeds.Actually, even bigger props to him, as on Saturday he had a hydraulic failure and had to make an emergency landing. I kept my camera on him the whole time, in case I was able to witness a $250mil ejection/fireball, but luckily (and thankfully) he got it back on the deck without incident! UH-60 Blackhawk
Wow, plus there is a decent chance he is in training or an IP because the bird is from Tyndall.
flyinhawaiian
Wow, plus there is a decent chance he is in training or an IP because the bird is from Tyndall.Actually, the demos are only flown by designated pilots on a 2-year tour from the 1st FW, Langely, AFB. First was Paul "Max" Moga, then David "Zeke" Skalicky. The backup bird was new-guy Henry "Schadow" Schantz's ride down to KLAL (Tail Code 'FF'), but they used the primary ship from nearby Tyndall. A definite pro, as would anyone at the stick of the F-22 would be, but the demo pilots are hand-selected and the ONLY guys to fly the airshow circuit! Though using a bird from a nearby base is quite logical. And I like the new shots just a much.
