Oliver Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Hi guys, I thought I'd put up a few pictures of the F16 Greg is currently developing. It will feature a full HUD, Normal Maps, 3D Cockpit, Multiple liveries, FBW, Realistic refueling option from a tanker, and much much more. Here are a few pictures of the liveries and the exterior of the plane, but keep in mind the plane is still in Beta stage. Not many screenshots over at the org, so I got permission from Greg to post a few to show people how great the F16 was looking so far! Enjoy!Shot at 2010-12-09Shot at 2010-12-09Shot at 2010-12-09Shot at 2010-12-09 Quote
Simmo W Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 That Netherlands display livery is so striking isn't it? Nice pics.well I better get this out now then. I did a preview vid for Greg, so here it is: This features in a massive interview I've done with him, I'll post within 12 hrs. This plane should do very well, it handles like a fighter should. Quote
MaidenFan Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I'm really looking forward to this except you have to have two monitors, but I thing I can use one moniter in the meantime with just the HUD.Hopefully Quote
Simmo W Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Yep, no need for 2 monitors Rush Quote
Oliver Posted December 9, 2010 Author Report Posted December 9, 2010 Yeah Simon, I saw your video yesterday, I guess you beat me to making one ;DAnd yes, the F16 really handles as it should, and those liveries definitely look amazing! Quote
NoutvanZon Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 That Netherlands display livery is so striking isn't it?Its beautiful, magnificent, amazing, striking and pure genius I saw that bird live and damn did I gain pride in my country because of it. Such a beautiful bird doing its backflips and other tricks right in front of me at the air show... xD--EDIT--Yet I live in Germany and they don't allow me to play the above video due to UMG copyright... Simmo W Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Ooh Nout, now I'm jealous! Did u get any pics? (hint). It looks metallic, is it? Quote
MaidenFan Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Since some of you seem to have the beta already, do you have any idea about when it should come out? Quote
Simmo W Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Greg has mentioned completion by northern Spring for the consumer version with 3d pit Quote
mutestyles Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Looks great! wish someone would put this kinda efforts into a F18 superhornet A guy can wish right lol Quote
MaidenFan Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 How about the Pro version with just the HUD Quote
Oliver Posted December 10, 2010 Author Report Posted December 10, 2010 Well yes, we are beta testers but that doesn't mean we have info on when the plane will be released. I'm assuming whatever Greg said on the thread on the org is what will be the release date. The date Simon mentioned is probably an estimate of when the plane will be released, but again we (Beta testers) have no news of when the release will take place. On another note, Simon, and I have decided to team up on this thread and post pictures, and videos of the F16 as the development goes on. Perhaps one of the moderators could move this to a more appropriate section of the forum 8) Quote
MaidenFan Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 No problem, I'll find the org thread and find it there. Thanks Quote
classicjetsims Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks for the posts and comments. To answer a couple of questions, the pro version will need 2 monitors using the F16Glass application which draws all of the instruments in its own window. You can run on one monitor too but it's awkward. The consumer version (no F16Glass) will have a virtual cockpit and will run fine on one monitor. It will also be a lot cheaper since F16Glass on its own will probably sell for $60. My half will be $30. In regards to release dates, I'm never quite sure. The pro version I hope to get ready within a couple of months and the consumer version by summer.Flight Dynamix may want either a Super Hornet or F-35 next, maybe even a SU-27 so one of those will likely be my next project after I finish a project I'm working for a real HUD system. Here's a few F-16 screenshots of my own:http://www.classicjetsims.com/screenshots/arctic2.jpghttp://www.classicjetsims.com/screenshots/NF-16.jpghttp://www.classicjetsims.com/screenshots/SAM6.jpghttp://www.classicjetsims.com/screenshots/CCRP.jpghttp://www.classicjetsims.com/screenshots/refuel.jpghttp://www.classicjetsims.com/screenshots/AGM88.jpghttp://www.classicjetsims.com/screenshots/SA10.jpg Quote

FlorianR Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 WOW! this looks amazing. did you use some other program outside of x-plane to generate those amazing glare effects on the fuselage? Quote
Oliver Posted December 11, 2010 Author Report Posted December 11, 2010 Nope, only used X-Plane, didn't edit the screen shots at all! Quote
classicjetsims Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Looks great, Greg! Happy to see this develop in the fashion it is.You've done some awesome work here! Thanks Cameron. I need to start looking at Gizmo. Do you think it's possible to run a gizmo plugin in conjunction with my current plugin to add vapor trails to my F-16 and engine smoke and fire? I also need to add missile smoke to my SAMs in my global X-Combat plugin. Quote
