Yeah, the white area is the takeoff trim range. But, that doesn’t mean you should engage the AP with the trim there, if you are holding control pressure on the yoke, don’t expect the AP to take over seamlessly. The plane should be trimmed throughout the hand-flying phase of takeoff and initial climb, then with the plane in-trim, you can engage the AP when appropriate.

ALT was always set to airport initial climb, so above the airport elevation. Speaking about trim, where can I find proper trim for departure? Meaning, is there any trim setting needed to be set per the TOW or something as such? I think the trim might be the case to be honest. Just have no idea how to properly set it up - resp. to which specific value, or it just have to be within the white area next to the trim wheel?

Coop started following Autopilot behaviour after departure and stec-55x problem
-
The STEC AP being used is the internal XP STEC. It is an incredibly dumb autopilot (as it is in the real world). It definitely is night and day in behaviors compared to modern APs (DFC90 with the Entegra, or anything Garmin, etc.)
-
With IAS mode, it should never descend even when trying to catch a selected airspeed, if the altitude preselector is above your current altitude (and vice-versa on descents). If it is that dramatic, then perhaps something maybe with trimming and your flight controls? VS is much simpler, much less logic going on, it is just targeting the selected VS. If its dramatically oscillating around that or diving before capture a positive VS then it sounds like your plane was not in trim before engaging AP.

When I start XP12, I get two popups: "X-aviation licensing. License expired. Please connect to the internet" and "License data invalid" I am connected to the the internet normally (no VPN). Log.txt

Hmmm. I'll try again later, but the preselect was not working for me. I know how to use this, but maybe I got something wrong yesterday... We'll see. No, IAS was not being used. It sort of followed the commanded VS, but it was not that accurate, and when well off the selected altitude, it was nowhere near right. Flies very nicely, but taxiing can be difficult. ------------------- I just tried it again. Started with engine running (saves time!), and it worked properly! Yes, it wanders about a bit from the assigned altitude, but that is expected and realistic, as the air is not static! It does correct itself. So, as to quite what was going on yesterday, I have no explanation. If it happens again, I'll send you a log file. Thanks for your interest :-)
-
The aircraft function is the same regardless of platform. Altitude pre-select should be followed so long as a vertical mode is active. This will ARM the pre-selected altitude. For VS, are you saying it will not obey a commanded higher pitch, or are you trying to use an IAS mode?

diamonddriller started following stec-55x problem
-
I have just upgraded to a Mac Studio, and run XP12 natively on the M processor (i.e. not Rosetta). I can't remember whether the stec-55x is supposed to have altitude preselect working on the Entegras - because my last Intel iMac couldn't run these planes without flashing screens, so I hardly used them, and stuck with the G1000s. Anyway, today, I found that altitude preselect (what I fed in on the Entegra PFD) was totally ignored by the autopilot. In fact, even the VS speeds were not kept to very accurately. Is this possibly a problem with the M processor? I had, earlier, tried the same plane in X-Plane 11 running in Rosetta, and the autopilot verged on being almost unusable for altitude control, and I gave up. I, so far, have had very limited experience in X-Plane using Mac Silicon, so I don't know what works, and what doesn't! I get super fps, which is a big plus.
-
Yes, I know. I have already done that. The funny thing is, I was sure I had mentioned this before, but I couldn't find any post from me about it, so I obviously hadn't. Thanks Cameron.

AirSerbia started following Autopilot behaviour after departure
-
Hello there guys! Thanks for the great product you've created :-) I have an issue that is probably related to lack of my skill - so I need a bit of help on your side. Every time after departure when I engage YD, followed by AP aircraft starts to nosedive until it starts picking up speed again and climbing via IAS or VS. I thought it might "chase" IAS that is preselected but the same happens with VS selection. Anything I am doing wrong? Maybe the issue is the trim? Also I fail to find trim performance table, should there be any :-( Thanks a lot for your time.

Known. Not going to be changed. You can assign a button or keys to the popups X-Plane gives to those units.

X-Plane 12.2.0b5. Now running on a Mac Studio in Sequoia. The 172 G5 installation seems to disable the Garmin GNS 530 and 430 popouts. No "hand" appears, and neither will popout, no matter where I click. As an obvious first try at fixing this, I deleted the 172 G5, and the G5 installer, and reinstalled the whole 2.2.0 setup, thereby installing a new 172 G5. No difference..... I had a look at the Islanders, and the GNS 530 popout works as normal, and the "hand" is there if I move the cursor into the screen. So, that's a bit odd....

I've done some consulting with the developer, and the short answer is Yes. The avionics are not prepared to fly this by going direct to the FAF, this isn't considered a valid way to fly these kinds of RNAV LPV approaches. The final approach course alignment leg from SAGER is required. I believe one can intercept this leg along its path, and still be OK as long as the aircraft is established on the FAC a few miles before the FAF. The easiest way to do this while on a radar vectors (HDG) is to bring the SAGER waypoint on the LEGS page to the top "FROM" line. Or just fly via SAGER and keep the whole thing simple.

Probably unrelated. But you’ll need to post the full log file regardless.
