3D Shots and Renders - showoff what you have been working on.
AnonymousUser68 replied to Kieran's topic in 3D Shop
Yes please! -
Last flight with my trusty 5 year old macbook while I wait for the computer in my signature to ship.
-
My favourite is the third one, nice work BTW

All captains use their left hand to fly the aircraft, joystick or yoke. At the same time all first officers use their right hand to fly the aircraft. I advise you to get a symmetrical joystick and learn to fly with both hands.

Custom PC, any final thoughts before purchase?

Thanks Ntr I will change the ram to Corsair Vengence @1600mhz but 16gb. I previously thought that 8gb would be more than enough ram but some people think otherwise and suggest that Chris K's Sydney scenery can use up to 12gb of ram on their system. Good advice on the cooler but I have done my research and decided against liquid cooling. As it turns out, just because its closed loop doesn't mean it isn't going to leak. As I understand the NH-D14 is the best air cooler on the market, is there anything more efficient? Thanks again Andy -
Nice job on the paint, very sharp! Welcome back to flight simulation, you obviously have a fine talent, we need more painters in the X-Plane world. Andy

I know what you are saying, I expect to max out all current generation games at 40+ FPS while x-plane will remain toned down at struggling for 30 FPS. Either way it will be a huge leap from my 5 year old macbook with 256mb of integrated graphics haha. -
Good to hear, good luck as you move towards release! I really like some of the screenshots I am seeing, post #93 being my favourite so far
-
Just out of curiosity, have you already asked Austin or are you hoping that it will be implemented?
-
At $14 it isn't that bad. It also looks as though the screenshots were taking with low rendering options and an unusually high gamma level. I would buy if it was located in my local area, at the same time though this makes Wilmington a bargain at $15 for what you get in comparison. If I had created that airport I wouldn't have released it as payware because when I make scenery it is a labour of love and I don't need the money but you cant be sure of the situation of the developer. At the other end of the scale you have the x737 which when the 3d cockpit comes along should be released as payware but the developer is kind enough to release it as freeware. Here it at X-Pilot it is generally below standard but I bet there will be many happy customers who are pleased to have that gap in the x-plane world filled.

I originally started looking at custom building a PC in December of 2012, now almost a year later I have enough money to build what believe is a pretty impressive machine. Please offer your opinions on the components chosen especially if there is a scenario where better performance can be achieved for less money (this is a big investment for me). All prices are in Australian Dollars, I am paying slightly more than the average price for these components but I am supporting my local computer store (scorptec). CPU: i7 4770k - (Better overclock potential than 4570k) - $395 Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 - $95 Mobo: Asus Z87 Pro - (Built in Wifi/BT) - $285 GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB OC - $579 Case: NZXT Phantom 630 - $199 PSU: Corsair CX-600W Modular - $109 Memory: Geil 2x4GB 1866mhz - $105 HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB - $105 DVD Drive: LG 24x SATA - $29 OS: Windows 8 64bit - $120 Assembly: Scorptec - $105 Monitor: Asus MX279H - $389 Complete system with Windows 8, a monitor and built by my local specialist for $2,515 (Australian Dollars) Not a bad price if you ask me, I look forward to your feedback Andy

Wow, I must say that I am looking forward to this very much! Good luck John

Work continues at Tyabb. Not bad performance for a 5 year old macbook! I expect to have my gaming rig (4770k overclocked and 4gb GTX 770) ready in a months time, then the real fun begins!
-
That looks like a crazy setup Jim, I really like the tri-monitor setup! How do you rate the Saitek Cyborg F.L.Y. 5? I am thinking about picking one up soon...
-
Wow, some of those clouds could rival the weather system in X-Plane 10!
-
We appreciate the quality Goran, it must look good after 3-4 weeks! I would love to see a video of the rain effects before release! It adds so much to the simulation and it is great to see it included.

I personally enjoy the ATR. After spending a lot of time flying fully simulated heavies from cold & dark with complicated procedures it's great fun to get a quick flight in. Also, all promised liveries are now online + update to be released within the next few weeks! Good system! The one thing I recommend is a SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147189. I am looking at building myself and was wondering what you think of this 750W power supply - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021

I had this problem for a while and freaked out! I just went back to an earlier beta of WED. Very concerning at the time though! -
Wow! Nice shots MdMax, looks like Carenado have done a great job!

I would suggest a CPU bottleneck, if you are only at 300mb of vram you can probably boost your texture resolution which will take advantage of your GPU but sadly your CPU is limiting the object number. I suggest this guide... CPU-Intensive World Level of DetailNumber of ObjectsDraw Cars On RoadsDraw Birds (not that expensive for modern machines)Draw Hi Detail WorldWorld Field Of View (wider view means more CPU work!)GPU-Intensive Texture Resolution (requires more VRAM)Screen ResolutionFull Screen Anti-Aliasing (FSAA)Anisotropic Filtering (most cards can do at least 4x)Draw Hi-Res Planet Textures From OrbitCloud Shadows and Reflections (not that expensive)Draw Hi Detailed World

Interesting question... In my earlier post I referred to the F/O as the PIC (in this odd occasion) because: He was flying the approachHe was sitting in the left hand seatThe Captain seems to be referred to as a supervisor and it sounds although he is almost removed from the cockpit environment. It sounds to me like a badly handled situation. After the unexperienced F/O screwed up the approach (assuming no mechanical failure) the captain was acting as a supervisor in the wrong seat of his aircraft and nothing was done before it was too late. I think the cockpit voice recorder will be a big help in determining the cause of the crash.

The PIC for the landing only had 43 hours on the 777. If some of this time had been in the simulator this could have been his first time landing at San Francisco in the 777.
