  1. It's an interesting thing - the 'free' bit. People are free to come, and go. People are free to add content to the site, or remove it. ie: there is nothing that 'locks' people in. So long as people find something about it useful, they will continue to use it. For a store, the passing traffic is a nice benefit - like having a store in a mall. MySpace used to be very popular. Then Facebook turned up. If an alternative to Facebook turned up, there is nothing to stop people jumping ship for the Next Big Thing. Its quite a fragile existence really if your next pay depends on it.
  2. The internetstm and a fair bit of guessing
  3. Looks like you haven't got the whole thing. Try this: http://feldt.com/work/projects/metar/
  4. So, you've got 3 projectors (at $1500 each?) and a $700 video card (and a Galaxy Nexus!). $750 for a hasp key should be a steal for you Mr Bimmer!
  5. That last one would be funny if it wasn't the actual NZ airforce (the one with the two guys with plane outfits)
  6. Ch-Ch has glass jetways? I'll check it out on Wednesday
  7. Ahhh, tech support stories...I know a few
  8. Nope, it blocked again...
  9. yeh...seems to have been a fleeting thing...
  10. The org is in Googles bad books again. Browsers are blocking it, and yesterday it's DB was down.
  11. The Temperature class is there and has a number of methods in it. Which method are you trying to use?
  12. oh, ok
  13. Hey, there's already a thread for this stuff over here! http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/topic/772-flying-humour/?view=getlastpost
  14. ...which makes me think there was more to it...
  15. I can understand why they wouldn't want to host a link to it given it's dubious nature. They have no capacity for being sued..they're an org after all. And while they are heavy handed at times, I figure (as with all forums) it's their forum, you abide by their rules...kind of like you're visiting their house, using their bathroom etc. If I found their bathroom smelled, I'd find somewhere else . I do not find this difficult to deal with, and have had no particular problem.
  16. This scenery is ridicoulsy good. Very clever work with the terrain too.
  17. The load order might be important there.
  18. Well that's exactly my point. It is better than pretty much any remotely comparable freeware, especially given it was released for X-Plane 9.5 back...May 2010?
  19. So theres this: MILITARY SERVICE-A-GEAR: RWY 4R/22L AND 8R/26L SFC GROOVED WITHIN 10 FT OF A-G SYSTEM. POTENTIAL FOR FTR ACFT TAIL HOOK SKIP EXISTS. (at http://www.airnav.com/airport/PHNL) The second one looks like someone has been washing something there.....
  20. When it comes to commercial jets, which freeware aircraft rival payware aircraft? The IL-96 looks (in pictures) better than pretty much all the freeware aircraft I've seen. Of course there are exceptions - the x737-800, the AN-148 by JARDESIGN, maybe the 747-8 by stekeller...
  21. Ramzzess didn't do a 787. Are you getting your authors mixed up? Orcair said "and is very clear at “high” settings" - did you check your friends PC's rendering settings?
  22. The biggest reason for my crashes (which are getting less frequent) is due to the ground getting in the way. A little bitty wall should be no problem
  23. I installed downloaded and Photoshop CS2, it it looks the real deal. The provided license entered OK and I even registered it OK. Does seem to be too good to be true, but it's from Adobe directly. I'm an old (very old) customer too, but there was no login or anything required, so I remain a little puzzled. However, as you added cessna, while Adobe may not have intended a free-for-all give-away, the cat is out of the bag and since there is nothing they can do about it, they seem to have quickly decided to let it go (they have kept the site up) and try and turn it into a nice PR exercise and opportunity for people to upgrade to a newer version. Awesome for me
  24. My pen was broken and the batteries ran out on my calculator, otherwise these would have been far more graphically pleasing.
  25. If you're anything like me, then you're still using Photoshop 6, which came out last century, and tend to crash and do funny things on Windows 7. This is an expensive bit of software, so I was quite suprised to read that Adobe have released a number of their older product for free download and use! http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html Sure enough you can downoad it, install it, put in the supplied license...but if you read news articles, apparently it's only for existing customers. Do they mean 'please don't download and use it unless you are an existing customer'? Seems like a giant leap of faith!
