SMP looks great, no doubt, and performance is very good. Thanks to all involved. Nonetheless two wishes for future updates: 1. Smoother transitions from day to night and vice versa (abrupt changing of cloud colours right now) 2. Smoother intersections with the scenery/mesh (very choppy from certain angles of view) And now let's pray for Laminar to improve the weather injection - so Skymaxx may shine in all its glory. Cheers Flo.
Did you test a plane without SASL? I remember that older versions of SASL had a mermory leak under certain circumstances. The baron 64 bit should be updated, though. But you never know... Flo
This file crashes XP10.25 on my machine. Never had that with other files from lt or others. Anyone else having this problem? It does not load - but hangs XP - even when just flying in this area. WIN7 64, XP10.25, HD mesh.
For a very good (but also demanding) KJFK Freeware Scenery and other US Airports you should check Frede's: http://fred-e.net/x-plane-sceneries/ Cheers Flo
Here is the list of user submitted airports (as with version 10.25): http://wiki.x-plane.com/Beta#X-Plane_10.25_Beta_1 As a starter for more good freeware (and payware) scenery I suggest: http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/4989-the-only-good-scenery-scenery-map/ Cheers Flo
Well, the main problem with HDR is not HDR itself but AA (at least on my system: i7 2600k, GTX670 2GB, 16GB Ram, 1920*1080). Performance drops as soon as SSAA is turned on and everything less than 4xSSAA+FXAA means a lot of shimmering. HDR+FXAA alone is really fast. Flo
That's strange, never had or heard of this "bug". What version of X-Plane are you running? Any plugins running? The X-Plane "config file" is stored in ressources/preferences (if I remember correctly - not on my flightsim machine right now...) There are a couple of files in that folder and you should just delete the one called preferences.prf. But you should run the updater before you do that - it might fix this without deleting anything. Cheers Flo
John, can you tell how Skymaxx will act with HDR on and HDR off. Are there differences regarding features and visuals? And if so, could you post a screenshot to compare? Thanks Flo
What happened to the main gear during taxi? It looks all right until you lined up at the runway. Then it's twisted during takeoff - looks stupid. Interesting airplane anyway. But I won't go for airliners as long as high altitude visibility and ATC is like it is. Flo
Whilst I have no idea how your intel HD 4000 can push 50 FPS your computer should be fine unless you overclocked it or block the ventilation. Of course it will get hot and noisy because it is running at max. speed all the time and eventually it might be slowed down by some built-in safety procedure. Flo
I know it's not just a texture pack but there may be limitations to the draw distance nonetheless due to XP. There is a cloud draw distance slider in the Skymaxx UI. John, what's the max .draw distance of the plugin and how does it compare to the default cloud engine/draw distance? Best regards Flo
Looking really good. The only annoyance that remains is the limited draw distance of clouds. With overcast/broken skies it often looks like flying under a huge sticky cloud with blue skies right around the corner. But I thinks it's on LR to work that out... Still a huge improvement, though. Flo
