Mine version is the default, but I checked around at my usual download locations and couldn't find the version you posted. For what it's worth. McPhat finally put up the livery downloads on its website, have they updated this livery from what comes in the aerosoft download package?

Admire the dedication: the kid dropped out of school to work on this thing... I hope he can find some way to turn his passion into a life-supporting endeavor!

When I look at my VRAM usage in X-Plane, I'm glad I went with the GTX 770 4-gb.

I see you resolved the issue but ... for future reference ... If you purchased from x-aviation.com, you can submit a support ticket on their website, and you'll get a reasonably quick response. I have never had a support ticket ignored with them. If you bought from the Org store I'm not sure how you go about getting support. There is also a support forum on this website if you search.

Yup. Just do a vanilla re-install of FSX and try it out, most people will be shocked. I was getting frustrated with the default X-Plane GPS, but I just tried out the default FSX one and it is no better. The only advantage is keyboard input. Only my memory of it was better, no doubt caused by only using payware add-ons! I'm studying programming so I can finally do some things I want in flight sim (and other areas too of course!), but probably years away from tackling anything like a realistic GPS.

Leading Edge Simulations Saab 340A Experience

The attention to detail was definitely not wasted time! Hands down the best $60 I've put into a flight sim. -
Should I buy Saab Today or wait for next Update?

The guided checklist with the view changes is brilliant ... It's going to be hard flying any other plane now. -

If you're planning on buying it anyway, I don't see the point in waiting just for the patch. If it's a question of whether or not you can run it, you'd have to provide more concrete information on your pc. EDIT: I see your pc specs in your signature. I'm running a similar rig but with a 4gb GTX 770, and I can't run everything *maxed*. You'll be fine with the Saab 340, just fiddle with your settings until you find the right balance of visuals and performance. -
Have you flown around Iceland lately in X-Plane 10? The stock airports are really well done. It's amazing how accurate they are using only stock library objects. While not 100% accurate (these are lego brick airports after all), I compared BIRK (Reyjavik) and BIIS ( Ísafjörður) with their real-life counterparts, and they are truly plausible and a joy to fly around. I think I might even try and make one myself...

I was debating plunking down some money for a few P3D sceneries, but held back for a few reasons, the largest being that flight sim is an expensive hobby (if you like add-ons!) and I can't really afford to spread my resources over two sims. But I love flying in northern hemispheres and the lack of snow has been killing me (figuratively speaking)! The planes I fly the most are still X-Plane, so I can't give that up. I'm very happy to see that you've decided to take this on.

Simply beautiful! Can't wait to see this all come together.
-
It shouldn't. Your team's scenery (LJPZ) is utterly fantastic, and seemingly accomplished with limited hi-res orthographic imagery, which means you can see the artistic creativity that went into it. Rejoice at even more great scenery coming out for X-Plane!

Maybe just avoid this topic all together and stay in safe water...

Yes! Hoping for a Saab 340 under my tree! A very merry christmas for those who partake and a very merry holiday season for all!

I have no idea Tom, I avoid posting over there after being snipped at for innocuous questions I apparently didn't phrase according to some secret standard. But here's something that should cheer you up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyduncFpzl4

I see in my aircraft folder that my version is version_10_1_6_4. Where would I check to see if this is the most up to date version? I'm looking around on the Org forum and not seeing anything. I did find an SASL replacement in the forum, as well as two other replacement files, which I installed, and now we're up and running without a crash to desktop! Also, thank you very much for your assistance.
-
Hi Ointment, It's definitely an out of memory error. Which is strange since no other aircraft (including ones that utilize SASL) are causing this. JRollon's CRJ-200 and JS32 all run fine, all my Carenado craft run well, etc. But as soon as the Challenger 300 loads up, immediate crash to desktop.Log.txt

My X-Plane 10 crashes as well when I boot up the Challenger 300, which I am assuming is because of SASL. Sigh. I'll just stick to aircraft that use gizmo.

I have no experience building PCs but I just put together one for myself. Once all the parts were picked out it took no longer than a day, including installing my OS. I was very nervous as it was of course expensive and I didn't want to botch anything, but there are tons of videos on youtube demonstrating what you need to do, and areas you need to take care (don't forget the motherboard mounts, the back of it shouldn't be touching the metal case, etc.). It was very rewarding and saved me a LOT of money that I put into better parts. I ended up spending about $1680 US, and the only equivalent system I could find pre-built was close to $3000, but had some inferior parts.

I'm looking forward to making the Cook Islands livery once I get ahold of this beauty! It's on my Christmas wishlist.

EDIT: Nevermind, joining this discussion is a waste of time. Moving back to the screenshot section

At the end of the day, developers are being asked to give somebody else a product in exchange for a review of that product. So either you are (1) a developer who has the standing to say "yes" or "no" to that request at their discretion, or you are are (2) going to pony up yourself and gift a product to this individual so he may review it. Aside from these two people, what standing do any of you have to judge what a creator chooses to do with his/her hard work?

Absolutely outstanding work. And everything is so crisp and legible.

Custom PC, any final thoughts before purchase?
hobofat replied to AnonymousUser68's topic in Hardware
Didn't see any compelling reason not to choose Windows 8. I've used it and like it and haven't seen anything that suggests it's in any way inferior to 7, aside from people grumbling over UI changes. I haven't read anything that suggests it's *better* then 7 either, so it just came down to personal preference. Windows will largely be for simming and gaming, I'll also be running a version of linux on its own drive for programming work.
