  1. Water doesn't make that much FPS-difference on my 5870, too. Shadows do. Global setting like Chris has: no way. Crazy, we're both on OSX and Mac Pros.
  2. With "not much hope" I referred more to 32bit-VRAM limits, performance is only my second problem . I need to stay below approx. 3.7GB, otherwise I'll xmap out of memory. And I do get that already with lesser resolution and lesser obejcts than you have set. HDR alwys pusches it up another 100-300mb. And every bit counts
  3. ok, thank you for clarifying Philipp. I just can't remember where it comes from then: An earlier CRJ version? The KLN GPS?
  4. uh! those are way higher than mine, so not much hope (I'm on an higher monitor resolution). But I'll give it a try. Thanks!
  5. Would you share your settings and VRAM usage please? I want want to try to use HDR with 10.10 but still have performance and VRAM issues. thx!
  6. Had an plugin issue on Mac wich prevented start-up of the sim: http://forums.x-plan...=40#entry662015
  7. nice until 3.74GB (forgot about the aerosoft airport nearby. jumped 3.2->3.7 loading it).
  8. having sound issues? fix is here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=60026&st=10#entry659410
  9. Download the demo. http://shadetreemicro.com/plugins/txp/TrackerXP_Demo_PKG.zip I'd fully recommend it. 100% cool plugin. But lacking TrackIR I can't draw a comparison with that.
  10. hatswitch works fine. you only have to assign each function (pan left, pan right, pan right fast, pan up…) individually in the advanced buttons setup.
  11. Check the link i gave you in the other thread. that is the issue i was refering to there, too.
  12. I'm still in that boat (or plane?) with you, dpny. But I am very optimistic that Apple does not kill the Mac Pros. It's just no longer the priority and the product cycle is anything but comparabe to their other stuff. Wich is reasonable I think given the circumstances of the changing market. But hell yeah! I am very impatient too to buy that new ATI (or NVIDIA) card for my Mac Pro! (edit: on the other hand my optimism might be unjustified: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/is-the-17-inch-macbook-pro-headed-for-extinction/20069 reports very pessimistic in regards to the future of the "big stuff".)
  13. that depends on your future… . Sometimes it's easier to afford something as long as you are 12-18 and can safe your pocket money. When you have your own car, appartment or house, a wife and kids, pay taxes, well … …
  14. uhm…; planes? flight? no, seriously, what we are missing are better scenery (industrial, cityscapes and so on), moving clouds, …generally more stuff to make it plausible. And all that with 64-bit version and perfomance tweaks (hdr, shadows) in order to be able to run it.
  15. I don't really know how your iMac should perform, it depends on a lot of stuff. However, as I said before: You can NOT exchange the graphics card in an iMac.
  16. 10 fps only? And if you run a lower screen resolution?
