1. Ok, did some more testing with both Visual RWC's on Always and it works fine. Did the same flight as yesterday with almost identical weather conditions and now I left the cloud system behind on my way to Paso Roble. When making a 180 I clearly saw the clouds behind me. I guess we can conclude that it is working as it should. I also checked the METAR.rwx files; they were still not updated on the visual PC's but I did see MAXX_METAR (I forgot the exact name......) files which actually were updated. I gues these files are identical as the METAR.rwx but specifically for RWC operation? Thanks for your help, I will need to do some more flying now to gain some more experience and find the best settings for my sim.
2. Frank, I still own you an answer to your question on this issue. Unfortunately there were some small activation issues of RWC on one of the visual PC's in my sim which prevented me to look into this earlier. Now this item is solved I did some testing this evening: RWC installed on both visuals, and both on AUTO. I have set the weather on the server PC to Real weather Weather depiction on both visuals almost identical to what is shown in the X-plane weather download screen on the Server PC. It is also identical to what is shown on Foreflight (See attached picture) Flying from KSBP, reporting Marginal VFR, overcast clouds (the magenta Dot in the lower part of the picture) to Paso Roble, reporting VFR (the green dot). When I am halfway the overcast layer disappears and I see VFR conditions, turning back to San Luis the overcast layer pops in again. I would expect that I see the overcast layer behind me when I travel towards Paso Roble. The METAR.rwx files on both Visual PC's are not updated while the one on the Server PC is of actual date and time. Hope this helps! If you need me to do other tests please don't hesitate to ask. Best regards, Lisette
3. Thanks for the tip but let me first follow the official procedure by issueing a ticket at X-Aviation.
4. Frank, I installed RWC on both visual 1 & 2 PC´s One of the PC´s gives me the following error when I am trying to activate the RWC installation (the other is fine): <MyMailadres> Apparent OS or Hardware install. I can continue from here but on this PC RWC is not showing up in the Skymaxx plugin menu If we can solve this issue I will do the tests you asked for and post the results here in the forum. Thanks for the support.
5. Thanks for your answer. I will do this most probably not earlier then wednesday and post here with the results.
6. I am running a simulator setup as well through networked computers. The attached picture shows the architecture of the Sim. Currenlty I use SkyMaxx as follows: - On the SERVER I run a Minimalistic version of X-plane that interfaces with all external hardware. It also has an extra monitor serving as a kind of IOS. - In this X-plane version I normally set the weather through the default x-plane dialogue window, can be real weather or custom weather conditions. - this weather setting is then automatically sent to both visuals 1&2 and SkyMaxx gives a pretty perfect representation of this weather conditions on both visuals and in Sync! Now I want to integrate Real Weather Connector into this picture and of course I have read the threads in this forum but still I am feeling unsure as to how to configure and where to install what software. - what I understood unitl now is that I need to install the latest SkyMaxx 3.1.2 on both Visuals (actually that has been done and working great) - Then I need to install RWC on both visual computers and configure it correctly. Question(s): - Do I need to install RWC on the server PC as well? - How to configure the various RWC installations? - Can I control the weather as usual through the default x-plane weather dialogue window? - Or is the operation of RWC on both Visuals completely independed from the SERVER PC (e.g. are they accessing internet themselves?) I'm sorry if I asking questions already being asked somewhere else, but I hop that someone can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance
7. very nice update indeed, thanks for the hard work. Skymaxx is getting better at each release. Just did some testing and it's performance is great, especially the landing lights illuminating the clouds is a fantastic feature increasing the ambiance when penetrating clouds. Can't wait for the Real Wheather Connector..........
8. Hi Guys, I hope someone can help me with the following question: I am building a home cockpit flight simulator that is interfaced to 3 computers, 2 for the outside views (1 PC is master) end 1 PC that runs all the instrument software e.g. EFIS panel builder and XHSI. This PC also runs SIOC that interfaces with all the annunciators, switches etc. All works fine but today I was strugling with the engine fire annunciations and extinguishers. I have set it up to work as follows: When an engine fire occurs SIOC reads this through a dataref (UIPCX) for the internal X-plane annunicator and switches ON the Fire warning light in the cockpit ( in fact it is a lighted pushbutton switch). In this situation when I press the Fire warning pushbutton switch the light goes out AND the bottle is emptied through the fire extinguisher dataref. This all works great as long as the instrument panel of the aircraft is in view???!!! When I switch to "view with nothing" (which I want of course as I'm in a flight simulator) the extinguishing command from the pushbutton switch is not processed by X-plane. Only when I switch to panel view (W key) I can fire the bottles....... I noted that it is not aircraft depended as I tried a different aircraft type and get identical behaviour. Is there anyone here who has a clue as to what is happening here? Regards, Lizz
9. Hi Guys, Just received my second X-plane PC to be used as a master for the visuals. The GPU is a MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB Windows 7 All drivers are installed already but I would like to know what the best driver for this card is at the moment? Any advice??
10. Hi guys, thanks for the answers, it really helps! Looks like I'm on the right path
11. Hi Guys, I'm seeking for some advice here: For my home build simulator project I'm gonna use two networked PC's running x-plane for the visuals, these PC's are connected to 2 HD projectors. One of the X-Plane PC's I already use for a few years now, it has fairly good specs': i7-3930K processor@3.8 GHz, ASUS P9X79 MoBo, 16 GB mem, AMD Radeon HD7970 VideoCard and it runs somewhere around 30FPS in average. The new Computer will be connected to the existing one with a network and one of them will be the master. I'm currenly shopping around for this new PC and found the following (possible) configuration suitable (see below): Question I have is the following: what happens in a config where 2 X-plane PC's work in a master/slave configuration where one of the PC's is considerable faster then the other. I assume that the fastest PC will be slowed down by the slower one. So in my setup it would make no sense to invest a lot of money in a very fast new PC when it is hold up by the older slower one. Is this assumption true? And wouldn't it therefore be better to choose a config for the new PC that is more similair to the old one? 12. Looking good!
13. Hi martin, Nice project..... In our museum for flight simulation in holland we have a real retired CAE full A310 flightsimulator that is currently brought back to life although we had to remove the motion system. If you require pictures or other details just let me know. You can have a look at www.vluchtsimulatie.nl Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
14. Hi Uwespeed,
I tried it with the Carenado Baron and it's remarkable how much control you have with the throttles only. I could fly the approach but the landing itself was not exactly a walk away.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
15. Thanks for the information. I will try this as soon as I'm finished modelling all of my objects and start defining the lights. Regards, Lizz
16. All, For my scenery project I used the LIGHT_SPILL_CUSTOM light to create an omni directional light that easily can be adapted in color by using the RGB parameters. This works great however these lights are always ON, day and night. Is there a way to let these lights be switched together with all other lighting in X-plane? I know there is a dataref involved in this light parameter but I'm not sure if that is the way to control it. Anybody her knows how to do this? Thanks Lizz
17. Hi, thanks for the offer but I already finished the airport actually. I uploaded it to the.org beginning of december. btw. Are you a dutch member??
18. I am currently developing scenery for EHEH, a dutch airport (ref my other topic about this). I develop this scenery on a different computer than the one I'm flying with. On both computers X-plane 10.10r3 is installed. The installation is identical although the flying system has much more scenery installed then the development system. Normally I develop the scenery using WED and OverlayEditor and test the progress on the development computer itself before transferring it to the flying computer. This worked fine until today when I encountered a nasty issue. I made some additions to the scenery package, tested it on the development computer and it loaded fine. I could observe the additions I made to the scenery, nothing strange. Then I decided to transfer it to the flying computer for a flight test and this computer crashes on loading the scenery. Disabling the package in the scenery_packs.ini file solves the issue, loading another airport at startup also gives no problem. So it seems to be specific for the EHEH package itself. I tried to troubleshoot the problem by eliminating some recent additions in the package that might be interferring but without results. X-plane does not generate an error message but just crashes and presents me with the crash feedback screen. The log.txt and the crashlog.txt are attached to this post. Is there anybody who can have a look into the logfiles for any clues on this issue or have other hints to get rid of this nasty problem. It halted further development of this scenery as I do not want to make any further additions before this issue is solved. Regards, Lizz crash_log.txt Log.txt
19. Hi Krogerfoot. What do you mean with "base of the lights in 7391"? Ik you mean the grassborders that can be seen on some of the pictures, they are from the Ruscenery library. I have experienced a lot of issues during my many hours working in WED and OE. Objects dissapearing and showing up; I have not seen that before.
20. Hi, I am currently working on a Dutch airport, Eindhoven (EHEH) which is a civil airport and also a MIl airforce base. Altough most of the airport operation is civil nowadays, the airport is still controlled by the Dutch Airforce. In fact the airport started as a MIL base only in the past. It is the homebase of the KC10 tankers which regularly are used for instruction flights as well, very nice as you can see those big aircraft taking off and practicing touch and goes many times. Very nice when RWY 22 is in use and sitting at the spotters place This is a work in progress and not finished yet. For me it's my first attempt into scenery design so the learning curve has been very steep. I was so disapointed there was no good XP10 compatible EHEH, so I decided to take a chance in designing it myself. I must say that I'm very inspired by the work of Frede as he makes very nice airport using only common available objects. To start with I purchased the FS2004 version of EHEH from OryxSim and converted it using FS2XPlane hoping that something usefull cam out, and actually it did. I asked Florian, the owner of OryxSim, if he could grand me the rights to use the objects specifically for this airport and he did. So besides a lot of Openscenery,RuScenery and legobrick items quite a number of EHE special objects have been used making it a 'real' eindhoven version, e.g. the terminal and a lot of logistical buidlings on the business side of the airport. I'm posting a few pictures here from the Military side as well as the civil side of the airport. I tried to stick to reality as much as possible but as this is a MIL facility there is not much information available and googlemaps is blurred for security reasons. So, I allowed myself some 'creative freedom' there where necessary. Even visiting the airport (I'm living very near it) does not give much more info besides of the Civil Apron, the rest of it is heavily unaccesable. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
21. Hi Chris, Thanks Finally I have more understanding on how these two editors work together. Altough there are very nice tutorials and manuals around for WED and scenery making in general this kind of practical knowledge can only be gained through trial and error and, of course, a number of kind X-plane enthousiast hanging around here, be it on the other end of the globe (love internet....) regards, Lizz
22. Hi guys, Chris made me re-think my way of working carefully and now I realise that I'm really messing up due to this WoW (and I'm even NOT blond ... ) I was indeed using OE and WED together on this scenery, but I carefully have read the forum and was never performing an 'export scenery pack' from WED as I read that this really messup your work. Instead I always did an 'export apt.dat'. So, I added polygones in WED, did an export apt.dat but not realizing that this not saves any polygone data to the scenery as these are stored in the .dsf file. As a test I just exported the scenery pack from WED and everything showed up fine. So my concern is now how can I safely work with WED and OE together? I really would like to use OE to add buildings, facades, equipment etc. as OE simply is more comfortable handling this then WED while WED is much more precise in e.g. placing Tarmac markings. But I also would like to have the option to add polygones after adding buildings and stuff in OE. I noticed that it is possible to import the .dsf into WED and WED displays all the data in this .dsf in a seperate group in the hiarchy pane together with the complete path to the .dsf. When I then save the WED file (.xml) and perform an 'export scenery pack' everything shows up correctly in X-Plane. Is this a safe way of working or am I asking for troubles again? Regards, Lizz
23. Hi Everyone, I'm currently working on a scenery for EHEH, Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands. This is my first project and currently it drives me crazy.... I started off with the default airport layout as provided by X-Plane (10.10rc3) and decided to use this as a template and enhance from there. This worked perfectly although I had to restart clean a few times. Although it is quite a steep learning curve I gained experience and made some nice progress. I discovered OE as well which made it rather comfortable to place facade buildings and place pre-defined objects from the libraries. So far so good until WED suddenly stopped to process polygones. I made some Apron markings (like MAXSPAN38M) using the taxiway parts from the opensceneryx library in WED and they perfectly showed up in X-Plane. Somewhat later I used the same polygone parts and spend a few hours on making taxiway stand markings to discover that these were not showing up in X-Plane at all. WED does show them but I cannot get them visible in X-Plane. Whatever I try no polygone that I place in this scenery will show up in X-Plane anymore. If you look at the pictures I made a stand marking (B5) using the opensceneryx elements and nesides it a square made using the normal taxiway tool. The latter one does show up in X-plane the polygone want. I'm struggling with this problem for a week now and cannot find a solution. I made these stand markings in OE now but it is not as comfortable and precise as WED in placement. I did a test with another (default) field by placing the same kind of marking on the tarmac, load it up in X-plane and it was OK. What could I have done wrong that caused this nasty issue??? Is there anybody out there who has some suggestions to solve this? regards, Lizz
24. Just made a nice flight here in the netherlands, from EHEH (Eindhoven, my hometown) to EHAM (Schiphol). I used X-plane 10.10b4 with real weather and time settings. Just note that it was bad weather just before I left, thunderstorms, rain and quite some turbulence. I had to stow away the gardenset outside to save it from the heavy rain. I took these pictures below (don't look at the livery, It's not common to see an B1900D from Air New Zealand here in the netherlands....). But I like the clouds and the lighting and the Europe OSM below, just fantastic. Regards, Lizz (rainy netherlands)
25. Thanks, it works now. :-)
