From the Bombardier documentation on the plane:

Eagle's AA flying is "safe" till about 2018 if the verbiage is to be believed. That being said, I'll be in the same boat as you next year probably, so good luck!
-
Actually, if you're going to Mesaba, I'd get used to the Q400, since they'll be taking that operation over from Colgan once they merge the certificates.
-
Real plane doesn't have one, so in order to be a truly faithful simulation, neither does the JR one!
-
Most US carriers opt for the "Flying Bird" inverted-V FD bars. Count me in for having that option available if you decide to implement it.
-
They have a fully-rated 737 pilot on their team as a technical consultant. I'm fairly sure they're aware of the positions of each and every switch on the panel .
-
Speed/Mach transition is typically M .74 in the CRJ-200. Climb at 290 KIAS until then.
-
Falco ships with one or two liveries. Corvalis ships with about 30. PNG files aren't exactly small .

Ok to be fair, I strongly doubt that every PMDG beta tester is going out of his way in the forum thread to make it known if he/she is an in-type pilot. I personally know two 737NG type-rated pilots who are indeed on the testing team as technical advisors, so I wouldn't come down too hard on MatthewS there. Furthermore, VNAV logic that is specifically tailored to the aircraft of its intended use will in most cases trump a one-size-fits-all solution such as UFMC. There's a pretty strong reason you don't see every add-on developer looking to license one codebase for their FMC logic. Each aircraft is going to have its own specific intricacies to the programming that require some of the formulae to be re-worked. Lastly, I've had the opportunity to take the PMDG NGX in its current state through its paces, and I can say without too much exaggeration that it will definitely be a major step forward in airliner simulation fidelity. It's unfortunate that many X-Plane users do indeed fall under the mentality that MSFS is inherently inferior to X-Plane because the truth is that wonderful things are possible with both sims as the basis for add-ons. The reality of the current situation is that the bulk of the development resources have gone into the MSFS side of things simply due to marketshare. The next year or two have the potential to be VERY fruitful in the X-Plane market and should finally turn that critical mass number of heads in the MSFS add-on buying community towards accepting X-Plane as a legitimate contender for their time and money. The best is yet to come, folks! Lastly, Morten, not to be outdone, we can show off our pedestal from the sim now too

Wouldn't be Doc Jensen would it? Drop me a PM. </threadjack> That gear looks really good Goran. Keep it up!

Indeed I am. I'm a flight instructor there.
-
Seconded if you need pictures of "Duggy". He's right down the road from me up in Grand Forks.

In the real FMS, the DIR-INTC page allows you to go direct or set up an intercept course to any fix on or off your route.

How to go about selecting a STAR?

DJB is one of a couple of transition points to the KNOX FOUR arrival into KORD. In flight plan format, it would be written as DJB.OXI4. -
Allow me to address these blow by blow (and I'd like to think I'm on good authority to do so - I'm in the middle of getting my CRJ type-rating): Not done by the real FMS - we use a flip book of Vspeed cards for each weight - If it would please the crowd, I can put those together as a PDF to help people pre-plan. Again, not done by the real one - all you do is enter your dispatched fuel qty in PERF INIT. See my first point. Advisory VNAV is a carrier option, and the plane is perfectly operable without it. Also, Javier has stated on multiple occasions that it will be added in a future update. Javier and Philipp have admitted a shortcoming here and have resolved to address it in a future update. I'll agree the FMS isn't perfect yet. Indeed compared to the real thing it has a fair ways to go, but you should judge it on its merits compared to other offerings on the X-Plane market and on its faithfulness to the real thing rather than on some wish for it to automate every aspect of the flight - even the real one doesn't do that!

I'm looking forward to flying the CRJ successfully, but so far the FMS has deemed itself somewhat unpredictable on my end. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for this one to rear its ugly head. Entering KMSP-KGFK into the FMS via the BRD (Brainerd) VOR revealed a number of bugs in the FMC, culminating with a crash to desktop. Part 1: The multiple VOR selection screen that appears when the database has more than one navaid with the same identifier is slightly off - it displays all the VOR frequencies as ending in .00. Therefore, the list shows as such: BRD (Brindisi), actual frequency 113.2 displays on the FMC as 113.00 BRD (Bojnord), actual frequency 114.8 displays on the FMC as 114.00 So on and so forth throughout page 1/2, which leads me to the next part of the problem. Part 2: In fact, BRD (Brainerd) - the VOR I need - isn't even displayed. It's on page 2/2, which comes up blank when I hit next page. Taking a shot in the dark, I hit LSK L1 on page 2 of the selection menu, which inserted Brainerd into my flight plan with a bearing of 339 and 94nm from KMSP, which is correct. At this time, X-Plane beachballed and crashed to desktop. Auto-tuning on the CRJ FMS is only for navigation stations - the FMS continually updates its position based on DME from ground-based VORs, and therefore NAV auto tune is a required pre-takeoff item to avoid a CHK POS message in flight.
-
I was being sarcastic. I know all about having to keep an eye on the thrust levers - I'm halfway to a (real) CRJ-200 type rating. I should have posted this instead of saying "the horror"
-
The CRJ doesn't have an autothrottle. Yes, that means in cruise you have to manage the thrust levers manually *gasp*. The horror...
-
Great to see. Just as I'm starting 6 weeks in the UND CRJ sim no less. Between this and the cockpit poster on my wall, I should be in good hands!

Oh lord you had to dig that out! For those of you who didn't make the connection based on the captions, that's yours truly in the left seat of the Baron sim. -
...got better excepting the fact that he's charging an extra €14.90 for it...

Conditional Offer of employment with an airline today!

Given that you said training/base is in Memphis, I've got a pretty good idea who hired you...all I can say is "good luck"! -
Who's your friend? I control a bit at KBOS as well. I'm a controller at KZMP - Minneapolis on VATSIM as my primary facility. If you guys want/need coverage for a fly-in in our airspace at all, let me know.
