  1. Great description, thanks for that!
  2. I think its interesting that on the MU-2 there are manual prop locks, when on planes like the Seminole, they are automatic to prevent the props from feathering fully on shutdown...
  3. What do you do for a living?
  4. Yeah, that's how it was down here yesterday. Tops were somewhere in the neighborhood of FL450 with severe cells in the area. Better bring plenty of fuel with you!
  5. Welcome to the forums! My buddy is in CRJ training with PSA as we speak (I've been asking him questions galore) and I am finishing my commercial / instructor ratings here in Florida. Glad to have another pilot on-board!
  6. Well technically you're both right. Its a 2-core DUO, so as far as I can tell, its two TRUE cores, but split up to effectively equal 4 cores(?) When I open up my system activity monitor, 4-"cores" show up as opposed to the two on my old Mac Mini
  7. Are you sure? Ben purchased a new Macbook in July...it's an i5 quad core. Everything I can find pretty much suggests that Dual Core Macbook Pro's were no longer available as of April of last year. Sorry, I read his specs wrong. I have the i5 (which is technically a 2-core duo) with the GeForce 330M in it... Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro6,2 Processor Name: Intel Core i5 Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 3 MB Memory: 4 GB I'm assuming it will have no problems with the CRJ? I'm also running an external monitor - Samsung SyncMaster 2494
  8. I have the exact same computer and got it last July... again, NOT an old computer by any means
  9. Holy crap! What are you using for screen capture, and are you mac or windows? Amazing video... several shots really warped that line between sim and reality...
  10. That's exactly how I felt when I got to flight school here (except relating it to college)! Its so much easier to study something you're interested in and passionate about. It takes little or no effort to study landing gear hydraulic systems or prop governor piston movement! See my last post on my blog and you'll get it!
  11. Manuals are read and digested. Seems pretty straight forward. Normal operations shouldn't be too hard in the bird. My buddy is currently going through CRJ-200 training with PSA, and he was saying its all the emergency flows and procedures (as I know from my training) are what really take the brain crunching to a new level. Can't wait to switch the bleed air ON for this baby!
  12. Silly wabbit... I had to try! How were your golden slumbers, sleepy head?
  13. Ahh good... so I can purchase the POH (insert date here: ___________ )?
  14. On page 68 of the manual, great reading so far! Is the official checklist included with the aircraft or how does that work? If I use a real checklist from one of our training facilities, will it work with the aircraft just the same?
  15. I have pretty much the same computer, and it sure gets hot, but a nice interm solution I've come up with is putting little furniture pads under each corner (stuck to the desk) to get air flow underneath. The ones I got were from Lowe's, item#: 54238
  16. I'm pretty sure that's what she said that...
  17. Fifteen minutes... Can Cam save the day!?
  18. Of course i do. But it's so funny to see those 2004 aircrafts and sceneries compared to X-Plane 9. They look so "freeware". At least this CRJ. Okay.. haha, just makin sure. I got worried for you for a second there!
  19. Dude... you know that the link he posted was NOT Javier's CRJ, correct? That's a FS2004/FSX CRJ that he posted just for fun.
  20. Thanks for all your work Cam... In case no one has said it lately, you do a hell of a job!
  21. Yeah... I was on VATSIM for the FNO STL ops and as I was on short final, runway "made" the METAR updated to: FML... Runway disappeared all of a sudden and I had wind-shear like a mother, all while in a King Air 350 (woulda been nicer in a Saab 340 or a CRJ-200, but...)
  22. I'm just bitter at Go!... I was blaming company procedures, not the pilots
  23. Well their pilots ALSO fell asleep and they put my beloved "Aloha" airlines out of business, so I don't really trust them to do things the right way, anyways... How's that release comin, eh?
  24. People fly single-engine piston aircraft across the pond from time to time. Easy flight for you, I already planned out your stops! CYMX > BGBW (Greenland) - 1367nm > EGPF (Scotland) - 1300nm > EDDM (Germany) - 746nm Ta DAAAA!!! EDIT: Damn I'm slow
  25. Hope you don't mind if I steal your idea too! That sounds absolutely fantastic, especially since I've actually FLOWN a plane from Montreal (though it was CYUL) back to the US. So we're waiting on Cam now?
