Hey Jan I am starting to get some more time on the aircraft again, maybe I found some bugs, or maybe user error or settings not set correctly. - If I add 12 tonnes payload, I get a ZFW of around 45.3, then I add 5.0 tonnes of fuel, and my GW should be 50.3. However, by inputting 45.3 into the FMC, with 5 tonnes of fuel showing in the gauges straight after a refuel, the FMC is giving me around 47 GW? The reason this caught my eye, was I took off from Stansted to Edinburgh, trim was correct at 4.2, pulled gently back at Vr, nothing..pulled harder, and maybe at 160kts she became airborne. Strange...as never had that before. So after a 2 hr turnaround, I setup the FMC for the return and checked the values carefully and saw this discrepancy in the FMC. I can put the GW manually into the FMC, but then the ZFW is calculated and is wrong. I'm at work now, but will do a flight tonight (East Midlands - Frankfurt (can you tell I would like the cargo version!)) and will check this again. - When trying to slow to flaps speed during decent, I feel that the speed isn't bleeding off like pre-patch. 1000fpm, idle thrust, speed brakes out, and speed is stable or even increasing slowly. The ghost throttle picture shows the throttles are idle, but N1 is around 31. If I move my own CH pro throttle back to idle, the N1 drops to 28, if I push my throttle forward slightly, N1 is 31, if I push it more forward, N1 stays at 31. So it seems my throttle is overriding the AT of the aircraft, but only by a small percent, and I think only at idle, but I need to test this. But this small amount of N1 makes a difference when trying to slow down. Not sure if this is a bug or some setup problem I have. I will test it more later. - Weather radar seems to be giving constant yellow returns in clear skies, not matter what altitude and pitch angle. Using SM pro (will switch to UWXP when it's stable). Can't remember having this problem before, I'm not expert in WX vs Terrain radar, I tend to takeoff with terrain on, and at a few thousand feet, switch of terrain and put on Wx. Bug, user error? - If you leave Nav 1 on the ILS frequency, on takeoff, you usually get a glideslope warning. Something I'm familiar with in this aircraft since the beginning. Is this simulated correctly? There are plenty SID that require turns at a certain height, or distance from the airport, with the distance being from the ILS, so the ILS must be tuned to follow the procedure. Maybe I am missing a trick here? - Lastly, the flight model, wow, I put on experimental flight mode. Now she yaws and wallows through the air, you actually have to fly it, and put in the effort to hit the touchdown zone even in a calm breeze. like stirring spaghetti with a long spoon! Reminds me of my glider days in Scotland, stick and rudder were never sitting still. Absolutely love it! This is non beta, so don't know if it's the patch, the flight model, ASXP or something else..., but it's great!

I have a but where outside is noisy, and as you move away to any distance, 1km even, the noise level is the same. Easy way to fix is to hit the turnaround option again in the options menu and sound functions correctly. Seem to be a bug I can reproduce often but I'm not sure what triggers it, easy to fix though. Maybe that's the problem you have?

Grab and drag switches issue

UWXP is playing havoc with many things, I'm going to install it, but Facebook support is on fire just now, hopefully it's stable in a week or so and then I can commit. -
Never tried assigning a button, I normally just give the throttles a blip forward after exiting the runway and they pop down, lazy mans way! Or I stow them away with a mouse click while doing flaps up, radar off, TCAS off etc, which are all located down in the area of the cockpit.

Good info Jan, auto brakes don’t work if you turn them on after td but above 60kts, but I don’t think we need to fix that! Working when spoiler is not armed would be good, obviously not for me, I have never ever ever ever forgot any checklist item ever!
-
Is this accurate Jan, I just tested it and you do need the spoilers armed. Below are the conditions for auto brake for a -800, spoilers don’t appear to need to be armed, how does a -300 differ and are all conditions simulated in our sim? Cheers The autobrake will engage upon landing, when the following conditions are met: (i) The appropriate setting on the auto brake selector knob (1, 2, 3 or MAX) is set; (ii) The throttle thrust levers are in the idle position immediately prior to touchdown; and, (iii) The main wheels spin-up. If the autobrake has not been selected before landing, it can still be engaged after touchdown, providing the aircraft has not decelerated below 60 knots. To disengage the autobrake system, any one of the following conditions must be met: (i) The autobrake selector knob is turned to OFF (autobrake disarm annunciator will not illuminate); (ii) The speed brake lever is moved to the down detent position; (iii) The thrust levers are advanced from idle to forward thrust (except during the first 3 seconds of landing); or, (iv) Either pilot applies manual braking. The last three points (ii iii and iv) will cause the autobrake disarm annunciator to illuminate for 2 seconds before extinguishing.

10 kts is fine, but don't use more than about half deflection for the turn or the nose wheel understeers. This happens in real life, but shouldn't happen at such low speeds. It's easy to handle once you know the limits, passengers like it as it's a nice gentle taxi, bit of a pain if you land at the polderbahn in Schipol though! Real life -

Is that flight not a kind of moving target, and will need tweaking as Laminar make their own tweaks? Just wondering out of curiosity. I don't have it ticked, and I presume that's the reason for my fairly firm landings with 1.3 -

Do PBD waypoints work now?? Never checked, that would be great if they do! -
Yeh, maybe too loud, but when I went very far from the aircraft, the sound was the same volume. But today as I move away from the aircraft, the volume lowers done until you can't hear it at a few hundred meters, which is fine. But listening too it now, I think it was the internal sound of the packs air flow that was playing in external view. Today it's the usual APU whine.

This bug has gone, sound is normal now on this mornings flight! Will continue to monitor it.

To confirm same bug here, Beta Gizmo, left bus off, but only on the 2nd connect to GRD power.

Patch is a full version and uninstalls the previous version anyway, just install it and you are good to go. -
I use the FLT GRD switch every flight, I did forget once and got cab alt alarms bells. I’m pretty sure it’s not on many checklist so perhaps a memory item? I just wonder at what point is the switch set to FLT ( after engine gen come on), and back to GRD after vacating the RW? Cheers
-
Good to know, then I won't bother changing it! And while you are still awake, maybe more of a procedure topic.... Did you move the rotary switch for AC to show the power output from the sources, the switch is just above the galley power on / off. I move it to APU power or Ground power before switching to that source, but often see it's just left in one position in real life. Also, in the air con panel, bottom right of the overhead, do you toggle the switch between FLT and GRD during each flight, I also don't see this being used much and wonder if it's just left in one position (located just under the cabin alt setting). Cheers
-
Sorry for the hijack, I often wonder about the turn around state. Is the overhead exactly as you would have left it according to your company SOP Jan? I often see just 1 fuel pump left on to feed the APU, and the engine bleeds off during turnaround. Of course, these are from various youtube video's, just wondering out of curiosity.

Make sure you have HDR enabled in your graphics settings. I fly HDR off, 16x aa during day time, looks good and great FPS. At dusk and night, HDR on and x4 aa for great great FPS. X8 can reduce Frames but x4 creates a few jaggies, but it’s dark, so you don’t notice them! -

That’s the file I used to copy but forgot this time. It gets overwritten on the patch install. Not sure if there are other pref in the file which should be overwritten so I’m happy to setup my views again -

I know in the past it was the same, and I asked Jan what file to copy to paste it back in but I forgot to do it. Shouldn't be hard to prevent that being overwritten I guess. -

Yeh, that's a pain, you wait for the install to start, but the prompt asking you to confirm to uninstall the old version goes into the background! I done all that, and near the end, there was another prompt to restart the pc. I did, then I ran the installer again to be sure, and it uninstalled, installed, but there was no restart prompt this time. The restart prompt was from the installer, the same window and graphics style. But like I said, it only appeared the first time. -
In external view 1, the APU is pretty loud, as expected, if I press free roam and move 1 or even 2 km away, the APU sound does not reduce and is still pretty deafening! I can't work out if it's a setting on my system, or a bug. Cheers

I mean custom views, ie. control 1,2,3,4,5 etc to set my view of fmc, overhead, console etc. I ran the new installer, it uninstalled the old verison, installed the new one. Funnily enough, it said I should restart my pc to complete the install, something I don't recall seeing before. Then when I started, the views were not setup. It only takes 5 minutes to do though. Not sure if it's a fault from my side or with the installer. -

Update working well for me, views got overwritten, I wish the patch didn't overwrite that, but no big deal. Next flight, Sumburgh to Edinburgh, then a cargo flight down to RAF Valley....hint hint, really look forward to a Cargo version!!
