  1. Jason, That's the float hanging down from the left wing.
  2. Hello, Hector, We will not be doing any paid beta test subscriptions for this project. We want to make sure all customers get a working product without having to test things when it goes on sale!
  3. Looks fantastic, Javier! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the texture work on this one.
  4. I'm going to assume Giant Fight Robots is a spinoff of the old Young's Modulus: http://laminarresearch.com/
  5. Nova, It's a new section added here on X-Pilot.
  6. This is really sad to hear! I'm a frequent visitor to the Avsim community as well. Hopefully they are able to salvage things out of this!
  7. Dan, This is still under the poly count of the MU-2. I think everyone will be quite pleased.
  8. The airports are not part of the RealScenery package.
  9. Noplamodo, My avg FPS is about 105. It decreases to around 85 when going to heavier detailed airports like SEA. My setup is as follows: Intel E6850 3.0GHz 8GB Ram 768MB VRam through an Nvidia 880GTX.
  10. There are no previews to give of this at this time. We are in the very early stages of systems, as the primary concern over the last bit of time has been the 3D modeling. Systems are up next, and will be a rather lengthy process. The shine is from X-Plane.
  11. Hey, all! Just thought I'd share a few random screenshots of a flight I did tonight from Portland-Seattle. The aircraft is a freeware Q400 available at x-plane.org, and the scenery is RealScenery (Oregon and Washington).
  12. Jason, DRM isn't an easy implementation, and it's not been investigated for non-plug-in driven aircraft. Therefore, as of now, it would not work for a "lite" version. The short answer to this is "no," we will not be releasing a lite version of the CRJ200. The main reasoning is due to quality control and our beliefs as developers for the release of products at X-Aviation. I understand this is a project that is long awaited by many, however, we can't let this be justification for a mediocre release set apart from our original intentions and standards. With that said, we really appreciate your enthusiasm you share in your want for this project. It's all the more motivation to keep it going!
  13. Hello, again! I still don't have much more insight into this, but I'm happy you've got a fairly stable setup going. I will answer the question regarding Vista: It runs just fine with X-Plane. I currently have Vista 64-bit running it. My setup usually hangs around 85+ fps with Extreme Res settings, and sometimes gets burst of up to 145 (depends on local scenery). One of the things I have always lowered is the world detail distance (I think that's the name of it) setting in the rendering options. I've always heard it can have an impact on FPS, so just through reading other posts, I've lowered it without much investigation. My setup is as follows: Intel E6850 3.0GHz 8GB Ram 768MB VRam through an Nvidia 880GTX. I'm sorry I can't provide much more assistance at this time, but it sounds like you're off to a good start by just fiddling with settings! Good luck!
  14. Hello, It sounds like you may not have drivers properly installed. Have you installed the latest by chance? You can download those here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us I'm not sure what else to chalk it up to at this time, but I'll keep thinking...
  15. X-Plane DOES support SLI. It WILL use both cards. There's the simple answer.
  16. GlowWorm, It varies by resolution, but the answer is *a lot*. RealScenery packages cover a single US state, and are often times upwards of 8GB each. Given that number (and this is probably even STILL off), at 50 states and that average number, for the US alone you'd be low balling at 450GB. I'm pretty sure it would be more, though!
  17. This has been discussed and planned for, but not for the initial release. There are minor systematic adjustments needed. I would say that somewhere down the line in the future you will see the remaining CRJ series.
  18. Albert, The video has the higher quality option if you press "HD" after playing the video.
  19. Ola, Although I've seen this video quite a few times, I just wanted to express to you how much I enjoy this video. When people ask about the MU-2, I often times show off this video, as I feel it shows off not only X-Plane, but the MU-2 in a good way. Nice job!
  20. I forgot to mention that I also run Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I'm not sure why your FPS are so drastically different from mine, Simon. The only thing I can think of is ATI vs Nvidia and amount of RAM both for the computer and video. I wouldn't think your video card would be having that much a different performance than mine, though.
  21. Henrik, My system is as follows: CPU: Intel E6850 3.0GHz RAM: 8GB A-Data PC2 6400 (DDR2) Video: eVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB HD: Wester Digital Raptor Drive (10,000RPM) Motherboard: ASUS P5N-D nForce 750i I can run X-Plane at a usually steady 80+ fps on extreme resolution. If I go extreme objects, it winds down to about 35 fps (I hardly use the buildings at the extreme level though). Hope this helps!
  22. Toconce, The throttle issue is common. If you launch X-Plane and go back to the Joystick Settings menu you can fix this. Go to where your throttle axis was assigned, and to the right of it, click the "reverse" checkbox. This will fix the problem there. Some airports have the data in them to allow for gate selection. Some don't. One of the drawbacks sometimes is if you open an airport with 200 different parking spaces, you'll only be able to pick through about 20 on the first screen when you select an airport. One of the remedies for this right now is to go into Location > Local Map and zoom in on the airport. You can then drag your aircraft to the appropriate spot. I'm hoping there is some kind of a fix for this soon. I'm not so sure about the 135 degree glance view, but you can assign the hat key to buttons. Go into Settings > Joystick and Equipment and select Buttons: Basic. Press your hat key in different directions, and assign them as you go. Common selections for the hat key are the "View: Glance" options. I hope some of this helps guide you through the settings. I know it's an entirely different world than that of MSFS. Cam
  23. toconce, Welcome to the forums. Nice to have you here, and I look forward to hearing your opinions down the line. X-Plane is in a major growing phase, and everyone is trying to improve the sim as well as make the transition easier for those from MSFS. It's a massive effort at this time. You'll soon be seeing these things trickle in so stay tuned! Jason, Austin has continually worked on the desktop version of X-Plane and continues to do so. Some of us work with him on a day to day basis, and he's heavily involved with beta updates. While he focuses time on the iPhone, he is still heavily involved to the desktop simulation. I know you've stated that you've spoke to him recently, however, there are a few of us developers who are in contact with him almost daily. The X-Plane Congress is still a ways away (we'll be attending too), and it's nothing to stress over. Get on a plane, show up, interact, dine, have fun, and come home. Hope everyone is having a good week!
  24. Hey, Simon. I think the shots look great, and I appreciate your enthusiasm regarding X-Aviation. Our goal is to provide the higher quality of products for the X-Plane users. I'm please to hear you're satisfied!
  25. Simon, Great shots! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
