[SOLVED] Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit Installation problems
Cameron replied to ArthurDent's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Is this when you have the CRJ loaded? The log I mean? I'm not seeing the vas plugin or the CRJ plugin load. Can you please: 1. Open X-Plane and the CRJ 2. Exit X-Plane 3. Post the resulting log again. -
People are even MORE prone to move aircraft folders around. If they break something they'll come to us. If they come to us we'll tell them what not to do.

Take Command!: CRJ-200 Mac Hotfix Update Released!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Follow instructions as listed here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=2444.msg23323#msg23323 -
That means the .tga file extension is there, but your OS is hiding it...that's plenty normal.

[SOLVED] Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit Installation problems
Cameron replied to ArthurDent's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
It very much sounds like you have either: A) Not followed the installer instructions as presented to you Moved stuff around when you shouldn't You should: 1. Download the file after purchase from X-Aviation. 2. Unzip the file you download, and run the installer that corresponds to the operating system you use. There are a few Linux installers included depending on your setup. 3. Follow the installer prompts. Make sure you select your X-Plane directory and NOT an aircraft directory for install! The installer will then install all necessary files where they should go. The CRJ will install to: X-Plane/Aircraft/X-Aviation/CRJ-200 DO NOT MOVE THE AIRCRAFT FROM THIS FOLDER! On to your battery issue: Are you treating these as switches or manipulators? They are manipulators, and rather than just clicking on them you need to grab the switch and move it with mouse motion. Are you doing this? -
Hi, Folks, With the recent release of 1.1.1 it seems that most of all the crash issues have now been resolved (with the exception of a few plugin conflicts). We consider 1.1.1 to be very stable for flying, and are happy with the results thus far! Because of this, I have closed the CTD report threads for both Windows and Mac. I have started new threads for support based on the following: Please read the following very carefully! If you are still experiencing a crash with version 1.1.1 installed this is very likely due to a plug-in conflict and is NOT the CRJ being unstable! We are working closely with numerous developers and plugins to try and assist with creating workarounds for making other plug-ins compatible with the CRJ as well. In most cases other plug-ins work just fine. However, there are a select few plug-ins that have consistently been known to cause errors (like XPUIPC being in use at the same time as the CRJ). Here's what to do if you are experiencing a crash and have 1.1.1 installed: 1. Download the X-Plane Demo Installer as follows: Mac - http://dev.x-plane.c...nstallerMac.zip Windows - http://dev.x-plane.c...llerWindows.zip Linux - http://dev.x-plane.c...tallerLinux.zip 2. Install the X-Plane Demo to a folder on your desktop. 3. When done, open the CRJ installer and install it to this demo version of X-Plane[ 4. Open the X-Plane demo and the fresh install of the CRJ and see what happens from there. Doing the above will ensure you can test whether the problem really is the CRJ and our programming as a bug, or if you have a conflict with another plugin. Did your aircraft still crash after doing the above steps? If so, please proceed to the following topics: Mac - http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?/topic/2073-mac-crash-issues-with-111-post-here/ Windows - http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?/topic/2074-windows-crash-issues-with-111-post-here/ Linux - http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?/topic/2075-linux-crash-issues-with-111-post-here/ Did your CRJ 1.1.1 install now work in the new install you did after following the above steps? If so, please proceed as follows!: If your CRJ-200 now works after the suggest steps above in this post, this means you have a plug-in that is not part of the CRJ-200 package that is conflicting with the aircraft. This conflict would be the source of your crashes, and now we'll need to figure out which plug-in causes the issue. We can do so by doing the following steps: In your ORIGINAL X-Plane install (not the fresh install we just did for the Demo version) that was causing CRJ crashes, please: 1. Remove ALL plugins from your X-Plane/Resources/Plugins folder, except for: Mac - vascore, shrinkwrap.plugin, and gizmo.plugin, XPLM.framework, XPLM.shlb, XPWidgets.framework, XPWidgets.shlb. Windows - vascore, shrinkwrap.plugin, and gizmo.plugin, XPLM.dll, XPWidgets.dll. Linux - vascore, shrinkwrap.plugin, and gizmo.plugin 2. Now open your main X-Plane that was originally crashing with all plug-ins (except for those listed above) now removed. 3. If the CRJ now works, you may begin adding back your plugins one by one. Eventually you'll find the one that's causing your CRJ to crash. When you figure out which plug-in is causing conflict please feel free to post it here. We'd love to work with you and other developers in resolving these issues so everyone may enjoy the plug-ins of their choosing without conflict!

I believe I have covered this in the past. Look for XP 10 to be roughly $99.95 or so. Austin has long talked of the days of "cheap" being back to gone now anytime I've had personal discussions with him. In OSH we did a promo DISCOUNTED pre-order price of about ~$80. The actual cost of XP 10 is slated to be higher than this pre-order price.

Your license will be verified against them from time to time. Failure to keep them in place will eventually cause your CRJ to stop working. It is likely that by the time you have realized your CRJ no longer works you will have frustrations and not remember this discussion. Therefore I highly suggest you do not remove these plugins unless you're prepared to deal with problems resulting from it in the future. This is not a "maybe." This is you will have problems in the future if you remove the two. This topic is now closed, as it has been resolved. Thanks!

Take Command!: CRJ-200 Mac Hotfix Update Released!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Hi, Kyle, Yes. You've got a plugin conflict somewhere. Here's what you should do now that we know the CRJ actually DOES work on your system: 1. Remove ALL plugins from your X-Plane/Resources/Plugins folder, except for: vascore, shrinkwrap.plugin, and gizmo.plugin, XPLM.framework, XPLM.shlb, XPWidgets.framework, XPWidgets.shlb. 2. Now open your main X-Plane that was originally crashing with these plug-ins now removed. 3. If the CRJ now works, you may begin adding back your plugins one by one. Eventually you'll find the one that's causing your CRJ to crash. Yes...this means you have not activated the CRJ. -

Hi, Kyle, Let's start fresh. Please do the following: 1. Download the following and run it: http://dev.x-plane.com/update/installers9/X-PlaneDemoInstallerMac.zip 2. Install the X-Plane Demo to a folder on your desktop. 3. When done, open the CRJ installer and install it to this demo version of X-Plane[ 4. Open the X-Plane demo and the fresh install of the CRJ and see what happens from there. Thanks! -
Yes, they are needed. Removing them will cause problems down the line. Please leave them in place.

Take Command!: CRJ-200 Mac Hotfix Update Released!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Shrink Wrap reports this because you have removed Gizmo.plugin from your plugins folder. Either: 1) Put Gizmo back in to your plugins folder 2) Re-Install the CRJ and let it do it for you Best, Cameron -
Statement of the century! Haha...hope your upgrade went well. I remember you saying you were concerned about some of your applications other than X-Plane. Glad you had a successful flight!
-
John, For test purposes, please remove xpushback and simplepushback from your plugins folder.

That would have been my next suggestion, however in the times I've seen this it's usually just been OAL. This is normal. If you fail to activate the aircraft within 30 seconds of starting X-Plane they will go black, but the activation window will remain. Once you finish activating simply re-open the aircraft (you don't have to restart X-Plane) and all will be well every time you open the aircraft after this. Again, this comes down to permissions. Somewhere along the lines your install failed to install correctly because of permission settings on the computer. The installer will and DOES try to install these for you. The only time it would fail is with...you guessed it...permission issues. Thanks for reporting back. Thread closed, as this has been solved.

Ok, I'll need to dive into your logs. Will contact you through email!
-
Radhat, Please download and install the following, then launch X-Plane and see if your activation window appears. I assume that somewhere in your install the permissions were wrong on your system for a proper install of the below linked file: http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/oalinst.zip

As Oliver has a very strong French connection I think it's safe to assume he wasn't doing any of this for "entertainment"....
