So I'm screwing around fixing up the rwy hold lines to make them look right (aka removing them from orthophotos) and I run across this little bugger. Anyone want it to stay? It'll make fun landings, fun as in fun with fire and loud noises.

Why on earth are my USGS Tifs looking like this? As you can see, I can see through the areas of the photo that should be darker... not any specific colours, or I would blame a channel mix-up (like B to Alpha). Any help would be LOVED so this project doesn't just get re-stalled. Thanks

I recently read on the developer blog that we could create airport building layouts to submit to be included in X-Plane by default. Anyone know how exactly we are supposed to do this? I could work wonders. Anyways, let me know, I have quite a few in the works.

Welcome, explorer1012! Any X-Plane version is cool - however, you should specify what version it's for! Go to the top of the page where it says "File Library" and click there. Then clickon the "Upload New Content" or whatever it's called button. After that it's pretty straightforward. As for updates... no you can't update from 8.64 to 10.2. You will have to buy a new copy of version 10, or a new copy of version 9. Sorry. Laminar's not that cheap. Once you've bought version 10, do a batch convert of all your aircraft to version 10 airfoils and the like within plane maker.

So I have run into yet another little roadblock - Airnav doesn't say that Honolulu has centreline (I'm Canadian) lights... nor does it specify that it doesn't. Anybody know the truth? EDIT: Also, what would you folks like me to do with Hickam? Should I just include that all with Honolulu or should I make it designated as a separate airport (which could be interesting since it utilizes the same runways)... It's up to you guys: for the people, by the person. Cheers.

Me neither. It will probably be mid-summer before my first release of that (just simple buildings and the included airport layout and basic orthos, nothing special). Uncovered meaning no ugly runway lines? You got it. Looks like your viewpoint got the majority vote on that one. Yes, it's YXX and I hope to have it done by June 1st. Just a little side project so I don't go bonkers trying to layout the 32-some odd taxiways of PHNL.

OK everyone, I need your opinions in this matter: I really don't want to cover up all the skid marks and cool textures on the runway with my ugly white runway markings, do you WANT me to? My biggest problem is the little black outlines and the skids and the numbers being oh-so-right and stuff... Oh and a little preview of another Pacific Northwestern Airport I've had simmering quietly in the background for a month now... Guess what airport it is. And it's not CYVR, I'm still collecting resources for that.

And this is where X-Plane 10's scenery system finally will officially be more complete than than that of FSX. It's always been more realistic, but things were missing... John is filling in the gaps, and I think they're starting to overflow. The work here amazes me.

Basically, Laminar is practically a garage company making one of the most powerful simulation tools out there, and it's just not their slice of pie to be doing that. That's for other people.

back home in BC, I know that one of most stunning things about the mountains in the winter is actually how smooth they are with the heavy snow blanketing them. Most of the snow here looks like the results of an avalanche because of the bumpiness. This is the sort of "smoothness" that I'm talking about: Agreed, although the beach colours look like the arctic ice flows, which is REALLY cool and I can't wait to see this in action. On the other hand, it won't look right in the mountains, but there is always that tradeoff. The snow beside the runway in that shot looks nice but snow isn't that bumpy, it's generally a weird smooth white blanket, which I have no clue how you would be able to do that with a large texture and not make it look like a sheet of paper.

I'm on vacation in Hawaii, and we went for a walk along the coastline (no beach, just coastline). Beautiful... then we saw a 747 coming in to land at PHKO (Kona @ Keahole). This wasn't too strange, other than they were still at about 4000 feet and they already had their gear down. When are you supposed to put down the gear when landing one of those older beasts? We thought it was a little odd, and it also had a crap ton of flare coming in. It was a Kalitta Air plane, whatever that is.

The reason Laminar didn't include all these buildings in the main install is because sometimes one airport and local scenery can amount to over 1GB of data, which in turn would add up to terabytes of installation. This way you can select which version of airports, photoscenery, etc.

I really hope it comes up - as much as so many hate it (I among them), some of the people and almost all the things available from it are simply wonderful and if they've had a crash pray they can get their stuff back.

I've done a crap ton of research in every place but the magical forbidden realm of the .org.

For those of you who replied to my previous whinings, here is the latest installer log and log.txt from my X-Plane on my 1TB external drive (the one that I tried to just copy the X-Plane folder to the drive to save the 3.5 hours it takes to install the whole thing). It is still saying "missing afterburner.wav" which HAS NEVER EXISTED and X-Plane never needed it. Anyways, here is the stuff (and the updater thinks it's all fine and dandy, the bastard): PS - Even if you can't help with this thing, can you post a copy of your log.txt if you have a running version of the latest XP10 build (incl beta) so I can compare what files yours accesses? If there is ANYTHING else you guys need, I seriously need to solve this problem, I'm heading to Hawaii on Friday and need hard drive space for footage on my computer (I don't want to risk bringing an external hard drive that far). And don't just tell me there are files missing, I already know that. What I need to know is what your versions of X-Plane are looking for rather than mine and why this is happening and such. X-Plane MAIN LOG EDIT: I am updating this because i realized this log copied incorrectly and misspelled a lot. X-Plane INSTALLER LOG (sneaky little twit thinks it's all up to date, I say otherwise)

What on earth happened to the promising development 5 years ago at XPJets and how on earth are their servers still running their website if they aren't doing anything? If anyone has any freaking clue what happened (acceptable reasons would be sniper attack, alien abduction)... I'm just beyond curious. Cheers.
