CYXX-PHLI resulting in fatal crash at PHLI. The flight management computer was being glitchy from the beginning, but on descent it became apparent that I would have to mickey-mouse it if I was actually going to use the ILS. It flew me a constant 5km east of the route displayed in the cockpit, including on final approach, and almost ploughed me into the mountain beside PHLI. I then circled once and attempted to land, and was a bit too stressed to remember that I was still well about 200 knots and flaps at 10. I hit the runway pretty hard and bounced. Moral of the story is turn around and land if your computer seems to be going bonkers over a simple flight plan. I love and hate this plane, it's such a beautiful and simple one to fly but when it has a problem it has a serious problem. I'm going to go for another flight now, PHLI to PHKO to see if it happens again.

Five hours of flight time. Kind of a let down, if you ask me. It's not a faulty DSF tile because it just follows the camera around whenever I move.

CYXX-PHLI, all fueled up and doing the heavy and slow climb up to cruise. BC is beautiful in X-Plane, I think it is actually the most accurately represented of any region on earth other than Vancouver being a giant trailer park.

Approach for Portland - I've perfected the cloud shadows settings in RTH.

Crashed outside of Banff while procrastiflying, took the opportunity to play with RTH and sky colours to get some cool shots.

Bit of a bumpy climb out of YYC, heading for the coast and rainy and possibly clouded in landing in YYJ. More pictures later

Good morning to the Lower Mainland! Took off from Abbotsford for a quick hop to my future home of Victoria! Can't wait to move to the island, I'm enjoying flying around it for now. Four months to go.

What "airport" is this? Impressed with the quality of those mountains. Also impressed with your optimism I assume the operators of this airsquare were also optimistic as well, considering their apparent need for two windsocks... redundancy redundancy is great, I suppose.

Sounds like a layering issue that could take a while to solve (a similar issue was discussed in conversions of CYVR here). If you need some specific help I can try to help but I'm crazy busy and I don't have that package to work with personally.

Looks kind of like the sort of designs I built in a crazed state of fascination when I first bought X-Plane 9 at the age of thirteen. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/armstrong/Features/leaptech.html#.VQtozo7F8pW

Tesla P85D vs Snowmobile. On ice. No chains or studs.

Nice wheels! Jags have the nicest noses. I'll stick with my junker 2003 4x4 Mazda, a little better for soft-roading in the BC mountains -
I can't help but add this one screenshot I took later in my flight in Alaska yesterday. It reminded me of Whistler, BC, and I think it's very lovely. RTH setting shown for your viewing pleasure

It's moments like these that I seriously have trouble convincing myself that SkyMAXX Pro is worth it. While other weather looks pretty good, I've never seen anything like this from X-Plane with or without SMP. This overcast is mindblowing. This is the best simulation of Alpenglow I have ever seen. I'm definitely ready for school to be over so I can hit the trail and get some serious hiking in. X-Plane is my escape for now.

If you export just the apt.dat, it will only export that file within the Earth Nav Data folder. If you export the scenery pack, it will write DSF's and write a new apt.dat. IF you're making scenery with more than just runways, taxiways and markings, use the export scenery pack option. Actually, just always use it.

This is more along the lines of "what did you build today" but I also flew it as well. Well, I took off and flew around, I still haven't figured out how to land a helicopter safely in XP10. All default resources, this heliport has been submitted to the database Abbotsford Hospital and Cancer Centre, BC.

Climate change, man... it affects everything. I guess the amount of drought can be attributed to to ridiculous amount of fuel burned in the X-Plane world.

Hey everyone, I'm dreadfully sorry about this, but there will be some minor delays in starting Molokai with some technical issues experienced by my partner on the other side of the planet. In the meantime, I'll try to get as much done with Lanai as I can so that release can happen... maybe even before April? Cheers! Just so you know... Lanai Airport is done. What I'm working on now is the custom overlay scenery for the rest of the entire island - houses, hotels, custom forests (that's the most important and difficult one at this point), and possibly some road stuff. What I want to make everyone aware of is that I realized something dreadful about 10% of the way through working with the orthophoto placement (much to late to fix it due to the amount of calculating required): none of the roads on the island, save about 3km worth of them near the airport, line up with the orthophoto, so there will be no dynamic world on the island. I will do my best to avoid this with the future islands, but I've gone too far with Lanai to fix it and there is no downfall other than the lack of moving traffic (which, admittedly, shouldn't be a huge problem on Lanai considering how small the population is in real life). Keep up the support, and cheers to the very few who have taken time to donate!

1. HD Mesh V3 2. Updates 3. The only thing I agree with is the gaming thing and only partially. That makes money for Laminar, and no company can function without money. If you don't like X-Plane 10, don't use it, keep flying XP9, your loss Hope that helps a little

No freakin' clue what this has to do with X-Plane but that is freakin' awesome. A guy on my street in my hometown owns a Tesla, it's weird having a perfectly silent car go cruising by when I'm biking. -
A quick update first: On Tuesday, my partner will be sending me the files to get work started on Molokai. I should be mostly done Lanai by that time. I am still experimenting with forests, but I expect that the initial release of Lanai will not include forests, perhaps trees along the coastlines to add some depth but the actual forests would take away from the flying experience. ATTR_LOD has given me something to work with, but it still looks a little weird. Colour matching forests to the trees in the orthophotos is important... and almost impossible. Anyways, here's a screenshot of an early morning landing.

Excellent! It works perfectly. Thank you very much

Basically, I want grass (a 3D thing that looks disgusting any further away than about 100 metres) to disappear at said one hundred metres. I know it's possible, because I've seen objects that are not rendered at a certain distance. How do you determine when the object is no longer shown? Thanks
