  1. WOW! I knew that this had been requested before but I wasn't expecting a solution anywhere near this soon. Seriously, weather-wise, this looks like a game-changer for X-Plane. I know you guys don't like to provide release dates, but generally speaking, are we looking at weeks or months (or longer) for this? Will be buying for sure when it comes out, actually being able to see the weather a couple minutes in front of you is going to be seriously great! I am continually impressed by all the efforts of Maxx-XP (and of course X-Aviation) to create a more immersive sim environment.
  2. Yeah I know (well, maybe not but that wasn't the meaning I was trying to convey)... I was trying to joke that it looked a ton like a real airliner photo. Looking back on it, I worded it wrong...
  3. That airliner photo is a cool shot... how close does Skymaxx v3 come to looking like that in the simulator ?
  4. Nope. I think it's up to 52 degrees before the heel touches the floor and you need to raise the footplates higher.
  5. I don't remember off the top of my head whether it's USB 2.0 or 3.0. It's a USB-B plug on the pedals though, if that gives you any idea. I believe that the calibration is not necessary unless you change the pedal angle (which you should! It comes with 20 degrees and you really need more than that), however it doesn't take very long and is a good idea to do. Once you do that the settings are stored in the pedals onboard memory and it will be recognized by X-Plane.
  6. Hi everyone, I just wanted to spread the word about an amazing set of high quality, custom made rudder pedals that have (IMO) gotten very little exposure on X-Plane forums. They have a long waiting time (I filled out a preorder form in January and got them in early July), but the production efficiency is increasing. They are made by a man in Croatia out of a very high quality composite material (high pressure laminate), which he has access to (as well as a CNC machine) due to him also co-owning a furniture production buisiness. The two most notable features on these pedals that really set them apart are the large number of adjustability options (spring strength, linear vs. exponential feedback, pedal angle, braking spring strength, pedal swivel, ability to switch footplates to for example the F-16 style footplates that will be available later on), and the CAM profile that is used for centering. This allows you to customize the centering feedback between center detent and no center detent, as well as the progressive increase in spring strength. A full features list is available at his website, http://mfg.simundza.com/. Personally, I had a couple of issues with my pedals when I first got them (most of them my fault, one kind of weird issue that got past QC), and the support from him has been absolutely oustanding, second to none IMO. They aren't cheap, but they will last you a very long time due to the excellent build quality. This thread on SimHQ covers many stages of the development, and probably gives some info and details that I forgot to mention here. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3782056/1. Anyway, I would highly recommend checking them out. They fill a gap in rudder pedal quality between ones like CH and Saitek, and very expensive PFC pedals, for what is really a very reasonable price, and while having much better support than any of those companies. Edit: I forgot to mention the sensors used, unlike basically everything else on the market (even PFC pedals, as far as I can tell, except for the crazy expensive 3 thousand dollar ones), they use contactless, high resolution magnetic sensors. Hall effect sensors are used for the brakes, and a magnetoresistor for the main rudder axis, all of which are 12-bit (meaning 4096 possible positions).
  7. I can never get why people are able to read enough of the thread to understand that it is/will be a good product that they want to get and then not read just the last page to find out that the release date is still unknown... Seriously just scroll up 7 or 8 posts...
  8. I'd think that Skymaxx would be more taxing on pixel fill rate than VRAM... maybe I'm wrong about that though.
  9. I've heard the opposite, that for X-Plane single core CPU performance is very important (equally important as the GPU) for all of the CPU intensive rendering options . And also, to the OP, there is no way that based on the two components you've specified (2gb GPU doesn't really say that much) that that system should cost 2100 dollars... Edit: the system in my signature (better than what you've said so far most likely) cost about 1100 dollars (I built it myself)...
  10. Wow! Looks (sounds?) awesome so far. Just one question, what types of sounds will this be adding/replacing? Will it just be environmental sounds or also aircraft sounds?
  11. And Michael has not been online even in over a month...
  12. Wasn't it an illegal conversion from FSX? And Carenado aircraft, and the Cessna Corvalis... Also the x737 and Cessna 172 Wide Panel
  13. Awesome news! Will they be enabled no matter the shadow setting, or will a certain shadow setting be required to display these?
  14. Sorry about the size, these are the same screenshots as I posted on the .org where they have a size limit so I had to make them a lot smaller...
  15. I think deleting your preferences will do the same thing (but what Flying_Pig said will work too).
  16. Is clock speed tied to single-core performance (what I mean is, will getting the fastest processor also yield the best single-core performance?). I thought that I read on the developers blog somewhere that it wasn't...
  17. He hasn't been online in two weeks so I'm guessing that he is still doing exams...
  18. Is this being developed parallel to the 787? Also, are there plans at any time in the future to release a more advanced model with complete systems, a virtual cockpit, etc.?
  19. I'm hoping that there will be one sometime soon (this 787 looks absolutely incredible so far! And freeware!). It seems like in general lately, the quality of freeware is slowly rising (other add-ons as well), and there are now several freeware aircraft that probably better than some low-end payware. I don't know how Michael's school works, but I think a lot of schools are out for summer vacation now (so hopefully work can resume)... I do agree with shishkabab though, kudos for focusing on school and your exams first!
  20. It has been said a lot in this topic that there will be no beta for the 787. Out of curiosity-what exactly has changed in 10.30 that makes it so that aircraft have to be updated (aside from the GPS, which I am assuming is not applicable to this)?
  21. I generally prefer Ground Services, as all of the prerequisites are free, and it provides refueling, boarding stairs, and an animated pushback truck in addition to the pushback capabilities.
  22. Some checklists that I have seen say to arm the backup fuel pump before takeoff so that if the engine quits or fuel stops going to the engine the backup fuel pump will come on and provide fuel. If you look in the POH that is provided with the installation, the checklist says to arm the backup fuel pump before takeoff and during climb. Maybe they just mean turn on the backup fuel pump.
  23. Lately, it has been happening every time, for the last 3 or 4 flights. And as I write this I find that it is back on there now. Odd... Is there a way to arm the backup fuel pump, or only to turn it on? Thank you for the info about the fuel selector. One more question: I notice that when the rudder is turned, the nosewheel also turns. I thought that the nosewheel on the Cessna Corvalis was free castoring-is there a way to make it so that it doesn't turn when the rudder is turned?
  24. Hi everyone, There is a problem that I have been having recently with the Cessna Corvalis. For whatever reason, both the moving map and the inset map on the PFD have not been showing the aircraft icon. This isn't a very big issue, as I can usually figure out where I am from looking outside and looking on the map but without the icon, but it can be annoying at times. Everything else seems to be working fine, and I have not to my knowledge modified the Corvalis folder in any way. Thank you to anyone who has any suggestions. Three other questions: Is the crosstie switch functional? Also, when the backup fuel pump switch is switched on, is it arming, or is it actually turning on when the switch is flipped on? Finally, how does one determine which fuel tank the fuel selector is set to? One comment about the fuel selector, it seems like it is impossible to switch in 3d cockpit mode, as it always goes to the off position instead of turning in the commanded direction, so I have to go into 2d mode in order to switch fuel tanks. My apologies for all of the questions; I am not very familiar with the real Cessna Corvalis.
