The screen shots don't quite convey the depth and light contrast but believe me it was very real. I also didn't realise that Real Terra Haze produced cloud shadows even with HDR off - the fact that it does means that the FPS hit I suffer on three screens with HDR on is negated. Carenado B200; default clouds; HD Mesh v2; Scenery4XP Final Frontier. If you have 2 or 3 screens use them to view; it makes a huge difference. http://1drv.ms/1DbjwfI cheers Peter

X Plane 10 vs P3D scenery,clouds and shadows
CaptCWGAllen replied to CaptCWGAllen's topic in Screenshots
Hmmm - very interesting Andras. The HD v2 mesh is really stunning I think. Mountain textures in particular just knock Orbx into the dust. Eveything is also in such sharp focus consistently - in P3D the textures tend to focus in over time whic ruins the immersion. Currently exploring New Zealand and it is fabulous. Can't wait for v3 - must also download Japan sometime soon. Fabulous work that you do. Thanks you. cheers Peter. -
Thought I would post these as I use both sims. They are taken at excatly the same spot in Southern Alaska, same time of day and similar weather. X Plane with HD Mesh V2 (donation wear), P3D with Orbx South Alaska payware. Sky and clouds are Sky Maxx v2, with RTH and REX TD4 respectively. Both are with HDR turnd on. P3D first, X Plane second - but when you see them you probably would have known. Whichever you prefer all I can say is that we are in a great period of the development of flight simming. PS - click on them because they were shot on a three screen layout and you don't get the full effect if you dont. http://1drv.ms/1BJEWR7

Wow that's incredible. Any ETA and is it payware? I would certainly pay for it.

Guys I haven't been able to download yet as away from my PC. But I saw the request to help out by purchasing something else in the email I received but I already have it . So you know what, the way you have handled this is just so spot on, and this is such a great upgrade I am going to purchase it again regardless rather than take up the offer of a free upgrade. Cheers.

Amazing customer service. Rewarding loyalty is not a thing of the past. Thank you .

Quite agree Blacky - it is just a totally different feeling - couldn't go back to a single screen -
Great thanks Tony. I haven't had a whole heap of time to add much - but will spend some more time over the weekend - it is a big old job. BTW you have mentioned in a previous post about terraced house and buildings plugins in JOSM - I haven't located these yet - could you point me in the right direction when you get a mo. I get the terraced house plugin principle - but what does the buildings plugin do - I assume you still have to draw around each building? Thanks.

Hi Tony, Thought you might enjoy this - W2XP, Sim Heaven, HD v2 Mesh - Netherlands near Rotterdam. Best viewed on a iPad or iPhone or similar for less blurriness. I think it is amazing - so real. You will see that I am no film maker though http://1drv.ms/1kqUxJt

Right I see - thanks Tony.

Hi Tony, I have started on adding houses to OSM in the area where I live. So easy and quite cathartic. My question is: Will these automatically show in X Plane or does it require a new update to W2XP before they will show? If this is a really silly question, I give my apologies in advance. Thanks Peter

Yes fabulous - I particulalrly noted no more tall trees on final approach to 27. Didn't realise this - have been using in 10.25 but all seemed to work fine???? Yes I noticed this looks much better. Hope you have an enjoyable trip back home.

Hi Tony, Just to let you know that I have had quick fly around Liverpool/Wirral with v5beta. I must say it is looking very good. Have changed objects to 'a lot' and am mostly getting great frames rates - bearing in mind I use 3 wide screens hitting high 20s with the occasional drop to 17/18. But the rest of my settings are pretty high - roads is set to tons, trees to overgrown and world detail is set to high. So very excited about this release. Will spend more time on it soon and see if I can give you some more considered feedback. Loved the fact that I could see what is obviously the B&Q building at J2 of the M53 and the puffs of smoke from the water cooling tower at Shotton. Brilliant. I saw on another forum that someone was saying it took for ever to load. 2 - 3 ins for me. Cheers Peter

Thanks for the swift response as ever Tony.

Hi Tony, Somewhere I saw a post that suggested that W2XP has excluded some of the streetlights in a config file somewhere, I think for FPS reasons (although the main roads remain lit) - is this correct and if so can I switch them back on? If you can shed any light (excuse the pun) would be most appreciated - and I am a 'noob' (if that is the correct expression) when it comes this sort of thing if that could be borne in mind in any instructions Thanks Peter
-
They look fabulous - I am planning a trip from Anchorage to Norway and will be flying over Greenland - any chance of some Igloos Loving the whole W2XP - lately been flying France - it looks so good from the air. Thanks again guys for all your time and effort.

I have P3D v2 - I don't use it; it is in IMHO awful. But I saw a thread about it being too dark when using HDR (it is indeed far too dark) and also not being able to get amazing sun effects. So I posted these shots from X Plane and Xplaned (excuse the pun) that you also got sunglasses with X Plane - just to wind them up http://1drv.ms/1n8JtrO Click on the photos to get the full wide screen effect. Sky Maxx Pro and Alpilotx HDv2 Mesh are in use.

Hi Tony, Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant - don't know how you did it so fast. Thank you - makes such a difference to the realism - I feel another donation coming on! cheers Peter

I have put a front and side view of a Coop in this file http://1drv.ms/S2Bi2s - unfortunately it was early morning so the side view has a bit of backlight. Will go to Tesco after 5pm on Sunday when it is closed. Have also put shots of Runcorn Bridge in same folder. Only from the Runcorn side as it was rush hour and the tail back from the bridge was about 2 miles long and stationery Going back that way on Sunday so will get over to the Hale side. Very difficult to get side on without a boat! Also I never realised before that the pillars in the middle of the Mersey belong to the railway bridge not the road bridge. I assume you do not want photos of the rail bridge side but if you do I will do them no worries. Any way hope they are useful -if not will need to borrow a boat! cheers Peter

HI Tony, Have just been messing around around LOWI using v4. Stunning - but a very picturesque runway. It did this in one of the earlier versions but was fixed in v3. See pics here: http://1drv.ms/1lvBRZD Frame rate seems to be improving all the time which is great. Hoping to get some pics of the Runcorn Bridge tomorrow weather permitting and will also try and get some Tesco and Coop shots - any others you need? I believe you want them square on? cheers Peter

Yes I knew that thanks, but I didn't want a watermark stuck in the corner of my screen.
