  1. I'd like people who defend this point to show us even one video of a pilot entering data on an MCDU with both their hands on the keypad, like a keyboard, cranking away at the equivalent of 100 WPM.
  2. Using the mouse wheel to scroll smaller knobs such as those on the MCP is the closest "in-sim" experience we can get to actually spinning those knobs. However, the sensation of typing on a QWERTY keyboard is completely different from entering data on an MCDU. It's more akin to the keypad on your microwave than any PC keyboard.
  3. They won't affect the performance of the aircraft at all, but they can be freely added as a visual at any time.
  4. I believe IXEG's stance on these sorts of things is more along the lines of "we're trying to emulate the real thing, within reason, and there's a fine line between providing concessions for sim use and making it unrealistically convenient" and not "hey, let's just throw it in."
  5. CDU (not the entire FMS, of course) keyboard input doesn't make any sense anyways. The 737 is not like an A380 with a literal pull-out keyboard for data entry.
  6. Navigraph also offers the chart bundle, though.
  7. I can see why airlines are upgrading to the NGs and A320s...but the Classics are just so much more involving from a pilot's perspective and there's something about pre-90s aircraft that just feels more "right". Further proof of how pilots don't run airlines (otherwise, all they'd be operating would be Boeings, and mostly 737s)
  8. There's a difference between a fair and reasonable price for a high-fidelity flight sim addon and $500. Let's be realistic.
  9. I disagree. Individually calculating the weight of each passenger and their baggage and coming up with an overall CG value is much more difficult than merely being able to set a passenger and cargo percentage and having it calculated for you based on the aircraft in question.
  10. Just to be clear, I am referring to the actual FMC and not merely the MCDU. To quote from the 737 Technical Site: "Most aircraft have just one FMC, but there is an option to have two this is usually only taken by operators into MNPS airspace eg Oceanic areas. (...) There are normally 2 CDUs but only one FMC. Think of it as having two keyboards connected to the one PC."
  11. Will this aircraft have dual independent FMCs, apparently a requirement for oceanic operations?
