Vinny003 Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Hi, guys!Is there going to be an update for the DC-3? Thanks! Cheers, Vincent
eaglewing7 Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 That's a shame, it would be nice if the grass/dirt/gravel field takeoff and landing issues could be fixed. But, I guess like all digital products, eventually they reach their end of life cycle where developers no longer update/support them.
Goran_M Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Support? Yes. Update? That's a different story. Gravel is tricky (almost impossible) to work with in X-Plane. I think the flight model was adjusted in the last update to make it perform better on gravel, but I would have to go back and check. 1
Vinny003 Posted December 25, 2014 Author Report Posted December 25, 2014 Hi, Cameron! That is a shame there will not be anymore updates for the DC-3. Thanks! Cheers, Vincent
iandiss Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 To overcome the grass/dirt/gravel field takeoff and landing issues I have changed the Landing Gear Friction Coefficients in Planemaker (Standard, Landing Gear, Gear Data) to:-Rolling Co Friction 0.025Maximum Co Friction 0.750. This works for me on grass dirt and gravel.
eMko Posted December 27, 2014 Report Posted December 27, 2014 But I assume it destroys the asphalt and concrete runway performance... Which is also not good when you want to take off from bigger airport, go to gravel strip and return back.
Goran_M Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) Tried landing on concrete/asphalt in the rain at those numbers? Edited December 28, 2014 by Goran_M
iandiss Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) Tried it in the wet, runway wet, on asphalt and concrete and it taxies, takes off and lands like a dream. Yoke and rudder pedals probably make it easier as does keeping the tavying speed down. Edited December 28, 2014 by iandiss
Goran_M Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) Interesting. I might have to try this again and run through some more tests. The rain was my biggest obstacle. Landing is one thing, but I have to make sure it lands and has the correct ground run on landing in the wet, as well as dry concrete and wet/dry gravel.. Edited December 28, 2014 by Goran_M 1
