I'd like to make a question related to the "save panel state and FMS data" during a flight.

In many occasions (with MSFS and PMDG 737) I had to stop my flight due to many reasons (long haul flight, too many in front of monitor, and so on..)and when I came back to the flight I loaded the situation but the "panel state" and FMC data inserted before the take-off were lost.

So...CRJ200 will save the panel state and FMC data?  I hope so, and if you haven't thought about it, could you please take on care?

Thanks a lot.

Hi, Riccardo,

It's highly unlikely that we will have this feature for the FMC.

Perhaps if we can do this in the future we will.

Thanks Cameron,

I think it would be very important for many users. If it's not possible at the release date I think many users can appreciate it in future CRJ update.

The Operating System has a hibernate feature that is fantastic for this kind of thing.

Sure, you have to get everything, but it saves us spending a month writing a save feature.

Yes, a month. Literally.

(hundreds of data items, the state of multiple interacting sub systems, making sure x-plane will let us put it all back in just right, ON THREE OS'S...... most of the time would be fighting with x-plane so everything resumes properly...)

Hih, got a weird humour at the moment, so please excuse me. :)

THREE? :P Isnt't it two? :P

All the best for CRJ!

Kind regards,

Kamil

Yes please do not delay the release for this feature.  If you can't keep flying you have so many options already:

(1) pause and hide x-plane, leave computer on

(2) pause, hide, hibernate computer

(3) divert and land at nearest airport

(4) crash x-plane, or your plane whichever you prefer.

I just can't wait to see the FMS that is being developed revealed.  As a random aside, I am curious if this FMS will be a useful codebase for future airplanes in x-plane to also have their own native FMS?  I don't mean another "universal" FMC, but one that will with common code show up in the development of other future aircraft for x-plane.

Yupe, the development of it will save lot's of time for the future, but without any changes in code it's impossible to use for other aircrafts.

We are not going to implement any state-of-aircraft feature for CRJ. There will be to basic options either to start with engine running or cold and dark. When you start with engine running your aircraft will be fully ready to takeoff, except FMC. For the FMC the only feature is saving and loading flight plans.

And... don't forget CRJ is a short to medium range aircraft.

You are perfectly right, even if you have to admit that "save panel and FMS" is a usefull feature.

This feature can be postponed in future update, it's not mandatory at the release of CRJ in my opinion, but is usefull.

Choix, since I infer you are the developer of the FMS (and other coded systems in the plug-in) I have to ask if you have ever publicly put out any info on the process going into you work?

I am most hungry to read and learn about what it is like to develop an FMS for x-plane.  Is most of the delay/overhead in the project wrestling with the specific datarefs (and limitations thereof) in x-plane?

Hi, there,

Sorry for the late reply. The only info available on the project is located here in these forums. We do not anticipate releasing any inside info into how the FMS is developed, but one thing we can tell you is that the process is complex when it comes to getting all the systems tied in with an FMS such as one like the CRJ's.

We do greatly appreciate your enthusiasm in the project, and can't wait to show you all the final product! :)
