not many people would be willing to pay for an aircraft.

That's just like your opinion man!

I'm really enjoying LES' Saab 340,  FlyJSim's 737-200, and Javier Rollon's Jetstream 32.

I think you should remove that 777 link very rapidly from this thread...

Wasn't it an illegal conversion from FSX?

And Carenado aircraft, and the Cessna Corvalis...

What do you think is the best freeware or payware aircraft to fly in x-plane? Please post more freeware aircraft as not many people would be willing to pay for an aircraft.

Also the x737 and Cessna 172 Wide Panel

It wasn't illegal, but Zroman was accused for doing it so although he had the rights. The aircraft file was removed from the web and no one has permission to re-post it :)

1. Anything by awall86

2. Anything by shade tree micro (payware and recognised by FAA)

3. Tecnam P92 by dmax3D

4. Cessna 172 by Jason chandler (use it for training)

5. Robinson R44 by Brett Sumpter

6. Cessna 182 by Jason chandler

7. Cessna 206H by Jason Chandler

8. Cessna 152 by Jacques Brault (old but accurate flight model which is more realistic than carenado)

9. Anything by skycycle (freeware developer on org, good flight models)

10. QPAC A320

I care mostly about general aviation singles as I like to use x-plane as a training tool for real flying.

Gliders (got my license December of last year):

ASK-21 flight model mod on the org somewhere (sorry, forgot but don't use the default one. CG seems off, glide ratio too high and control geometry is incorrect. I soloed on the ASK-21)

ASG-29 by windsocks

Discus 2C by someone on the org

Nothing else for gliders, we really need quality gliders on x-plane, I see potential for development.

DC-3 with the good old fashioned 1930s style cockpit which have the analog gauges, and the mechanical sperry autopilot! And the B-17 is also my favorite aircraft as well as the DC-3!

I think there is no such best aircraft, it really depends what you would like to simulate, then what would be the best aircraft:

-Boeing 777 FF for large modern jetliner, fully fmc, computerized systems, long flights

-Boeing 737-200 FJS heavy old fashion manual flying, navaids, short flights

-Saab 340 for turbo prop

-Carenado´s for GA i like the 172, 206 a lot

Skills required to flight each category properly are substantially different and complementary.

Couple things about my posts:

#1, My lists are in no particular order, so number 1 might be my 7th favorite aircraft.

#2, It is only opinions to be presented. Not that I have seen any arguing happening, but I don't want any arguing about favorite aircraft.

without further adieu, here are my top ten payware aircraft:

#1 Boeing 757 http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=518
#2 Boeing 777 http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=452

#3 Bombardier Q400 http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=287

#7 Airbus A320neo http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=436
#8 CRJ 200 http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=292

Yes, I also like the DC-3 and I fly it quite often. It's a pity that it does not work on grass or gravel runways - I bought it (and also the Cessna 185) for flying around Alaska where there is a plenty of unpaved runways, so it was a bit of a disappointment for me. Therefore I categorize it as "I'm glad to have them, I like to fly them, I'd definitely buy them again, but they're not my favourite" - the same category as other Carenado GA planes or Felis' An-24 or IL-14 (now freeware).

And +1 for liking the steam gauges. Before I bought the SAAB 340, I was thinking if it has "too modern" avionics for me or not :-) . Now I have the same dilemma between FlyJSim 737 and IXEG 737 (not released yet). May be I should buy both of them (when the IXEG one is finished).
