Looking at those screenshots its almost like you have a cloud layer touching the ground this is an unrealistic situation.  Were you using default weather or real world weather?

This problem appears regardless of real weather or default weather.  It appears only under a certain condition, and if I remove SMP, the problem goes away.

It seems that condition is when there is a layer of fog or haze over the airfield (at this point I've only tested for when the aircraft is on the ground), the colouring difference takes place.  This also applies to something "orange", but I cannot explain where the "orange" haze came from.

In terms of the first picture, it was the first time I saw that, so not sure how I can reproduce that for testing purposes.

I'm puzzled and i haven't seen such a condition.  Have you tried looking at your video card drivers?

The reason I am puzzled is SMP doesn't generate this kind of haze in any situation.....

Brenchen, please post your log file so we can have a look at it. My only guess at this point is that some other add-on is placing a cumulus or overcast cloud layer at or below ground layer which SMP then honors, and visibility is set to be very low therefore making those clouds mostly transparent.

If you can post a screenshot of your SMP settings that might also be useful (restoring them to defaults is worth a shot as well.)

Thanks for the reply Frank, I'll put up some info when I get home in 12 hours time.  Cheers.

Here are the pictures.  Firstly this is my SMP settings:

The time settings are:

  • At dawn, img 1 & 2 were taken with CAT II visibility (set in the weather options)
  • At down, img 3, 4, 5 were taken with CAT I visibility
  • Log files were taken at CAT I visibility: Log.txt
  • SMP setting remained consistent throughout these images: post-16037-0-75576400-1394749559_thumb.p

These two images show how it looked inside the cockpit.

The following three images illustrate how the angle of viewing of the aircraft changes that effect.

Now a new patch is just released, I'll install that and see how it goes.

Cheers,

Now just tagging along this thread, with every update, we must download a new version of SMP, and our download counter just keep reducing.  What if there are 5 updates available for it, and I use up all my download quota not because I lost the file, but because of these updates.  And when I genuinely lost the files and my download quota is up, what can I do about this?

Posted

Not true. It resets at every update.

I'm just looking at my counter now.  I've downloaded the installation 3 times from the link.  The initial purchase, v1.3.1, and now 1.3.2.  The Download Links says "2 downloads remaining".  So I'm not quite sure what do you mean by it resets?

Exactly as I said...it resets at each update.

You are allotted your 3 per version. Going by your scenario and if it were how you expect it to be, you would be at 0 downloads remaining, but, because each update warrants a reset it only acts as if you have downloaded it ONE time. 3 minus 1 = 2.

Ah I see, my apologies.  I somehow thought we were entitled 5 downloads.  Thanks for the clarification.

OK As mentioned before, that problem still exists at dawn/dusk with v1.3.2.  It seems like it's a camera glare of some sort and it may actually be intentional.  However, the effect may be too strong?

John has already pointed it out to you. Your crep. rays settings is set high enough that you are seeing unwanted artifacts on your end. Tone it down to a setting that better suits your liking.

Yea I missed that reply.  But thanks for pointing that out. Problem solved!

I'll leave off the second problem with the fog cross-sectioning the plane until I can reproduce it again.  John, when you said look at my graphics card, what should I be looking for?  I've updated to the lastest driver, and installed XP after installing the graphics card.

My suggestion was a shot in the dark as Frank said you may have clouds at ground level causing this issue.  At that time we didn't have much to go on...

Feel free to post your findings, and when it does happen again post the airport and the weather settings.  We will be here to help you out ;)
