ryancz Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 Hello everybody!I am starting a side project to the work I'm doing with AeroBridge to refine my modeling skills and give more to the community. As the title says, I am modeling a Cessna 140. However, it will be a specific 140, N76452. This Cessna 140 is one of the two planes I am training in, and will have chances to record sound and compare the real plane to the sim. It has an upgraded engine, a O-290, giving 140 hp, a huge increase over the stock 85 hp. This does come with a farther forward center of gravity.I'll shut up and show the first renders, along with a picture of the real plane. 3
Gjalp Posted December 23, 2012 Report Posted December 23, 2012 Sweeeeeeet, this will be a goodun' I feel. I love old planes and this is another I will need to add to my hangar! Look forward to seeing the progress you make on this bird Slainte, AndyNZCH

Jordan P. Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 This is the year of retro DC-3, Carendo C185, 727 etc....Tell me about it! ;-D
andyw248 Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 What's that thing on the left side of the cowling? Is that a cow horn?
ryancz Posted December 28, 2012 Author Report Posted December 28, 2012 It's a Venturi. This plane doesn't have a vacuum pump, a venturi provides a vacuum to run the gyros.Same way a carburator sucks fuel in, or a bottle makes noise when you blow across the top.
Ntr09 Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 We have a 50's 172 here at CSV that has one of those. It's a clever system. -NR
olderndirt Posted October 29, 2018 Report Posted October 29, 2018 Bump - little late to this thread. Whatever became of your C140 project? I owned N76136, in Alaska, for several years.
