Hi to all, the 2D panels and the Virtual Cockpit of the upcoming CRJ-200 will work on every graphic resolution, i.e. 1920x1200? All the gauges and all text will be clear at that resolution?

Thank you very much!

The Crj-200 won't have any 2D panels.. all 3D. For all those that don't like 3D pannels.. we will make presents of views of 3D panels as 2D with pilotview plugin. You can navigate through them without moving them. So the are like 2D panels.. and Anton also will implement popups of displays and FMS.. so.. you won't have any problem aswell as no other with different screen resolutions.

Disappointing.  :-\ Hopefully the alternative is very similar.

Okay, I have to comment...sorry!

First and foremost: What's the purpose of your post or disappointment? If you're going to be negative or hopeful, at least back yourself up. Sorry, but there's no point otherwise.

Let this first be clear that this response is NOT coming out because it's associated to me. It's a general statement I have because I've seen other people speak of this and frankly, I just don't understand why. It's not many who do complain about it, but never the less, the complaint is there when it's there...

What's so disappointing about this? The 3D in a "2D" view looks plenty fine to me...always has regardless of the plane I've flown. One difference here is that this aircraft will go the extra mile and give you the pre-sets to allow you the zoomed in functionality of a similar 2D view AND you get pop-ups! The 3D as 2D also allows manipulator functionality (something the CRJ uses in great numbers).

Going off another post of your own, you stated:

I simply look for a realistic flying experience, which, as far as I'm concerned, is basically the panel and how the plane responds when you move the stick.

If such is the case, then manipulators are a step in the right direction. As such, 2D panels are out of the picture, and 3D takes over as 2D. Given the massive amount of manipulators "programmed" into this aircraft, I would think this would plenty suit someone like yourself well.

All the above said, if you feel you're going to be disappointed, don't buy it. We all certainly love the business, but even more is that we want happy customers. If it's something you're going to have grief over then maybe this aircraft is NOT for you.

Thanks for the info- I guess I'm simply stuck in the past and unwilling to change. :P From what you've said above it really does sound like a step in the right direction (as far as what I'm looking for) and I can't wait to give it a go. Apologies for the statement, what you all are doing here is really great. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well put Cam, where were you back when people were saying the same thing about the PMDG js41. lol, i remember readying those threads on avsim and going, jeez! when will it end.

You make a good point, i can see how a bunch of people who have been flight simming for years can feel very comfortable flying with 2d panels, and may be a bit apprehensive about switching over to only having 3d. For some it can be a big move, but i believe once they see how well they look, feel, and work, they will really come to enjoy the feel of a 3d cockpit over 2d panels any day.

I can understand the apprehension about moving from 2D panels. It is nice to have all the buttons you need right there without any moving around.

A recent experience of mine serves as an example. I recently got my first pay-ware plane: the MU-2 (not to take away from this post within the CRJ-200 section--I surely will be buying that one too!). The first time I took it up, I promptly crashed it. And that was after reading the manuals. I had the recommended amount of aileron trim for takeoff, and then as I gained speed, I was supposed to reduce that left trim. Trouble was that I had to navigate my view around to the aileron trim control. In so doing, I lost the view out my windscreen, and I also lost my artificial horizon. And since I never had the "feel" of flying in the first place because I'm really just sitting at my desk, I had no orientation. I banked pretty hard into the ground.

My first impression was that I thought the 3D cockpit pretty, but not practical. But then I discovered PilotView that others have talked about. I designed a set of 8 preset views quickly accessible by keys on the keypad (you can use whatever keys you want). Really, it's all just 2D anyway, since we are looking at flat screens. It essentially allows you to make your own 2D panels from the 3D, but from just the perspective you want. In my case, I made sure every view had some way to keep orientation. No more hunting around to get the right view while racing toward the earth: just a quick key and there it is. It's like you get the best of both worlds: the convenience of the 2D panel that also has the ability to move around when you want it to. And further, when I mapped these views to my keypad, that freed up a couple rocker switches on my yoke that I could then map to elevator and aileron trim.

Though frustrating right at first, I have now ended up with better than I started with. Hurray 3D, and hurray Sandy Barbour and his free little PilotView plugin!

Yes.. I will put several PilotView presets on the CRJ with Overpanel, central panel, radios, Autopilot.. etc... So you only have to click a key on keyboard to navigate throught them... and the camera won't move while flying. So is the same as a 2D panel.

The reason I didn't make a 2D panel is because already there are so many good planes out there with 2D panels.. and because I am a lover of 3D views.

The main reason I started making planes on x-plane was the first day I flough the Texan. I said.. "yes.. this is good.. but no real sensation". After flying on other simulators with 3D cockpit I couln't go backwards.. so I build the Cockpit for the Texan, that you can download on my website for free. The rest is just history.... and I believe if you love the flight simulators, one day you have to try TrackIR and fly on a 3D cockpit. Once you manage with trackir, you cannot fly other way!

There was a problem before manipulators technology to handle buttons and radios on 3D.. but now the solution is perfect.

Very good! Veramente BRAVI!  ;)

I always use trackir in iRacing, rFactor, RaceON, GTR2, LFS, netKar and Falcon4.. I'll never fly or race without it: it's an incredible experience!

Can't wait for your amazing CRJ-200!

Thanks to all!
