danhenri Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Hello Tom,Do you know when a future version of the MU2 with a ADF will be available ? I really enjoy this plane, but it is sometimes very difficult to follow the procedures (especially the SIDs) without an ADF on board : indeed, many SIDs are partially based on NDBs. If you want to fly in British Columbia with Final Frontier or Inside Passage sceneries, it is also often necessary to have an ADF (I know, we can use the GPS, but the XP GPS is really rudimentary). I saw videos of the real MU2 on You Tube : it actually does have an ADF on board.Best regards,Daniel. Quote
Cameron Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Daniel,I'm sure Tom may elaborate a little more on this, however, not all (most) MU-2's have an ADF active. With that said, it is planned to be implemented. This is a very common question, and was just answered a little more throughly the other day here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=371.msg2370#msg2370 Quote
tkyler Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Daniel...I couldn't say when...I have a few other projects I'm working on that are higher priority. These higher priority project will have effects / implications on the MU-2 update though. Probably just towards the end of this year / first of next year I'll be working on an update. Quote
danhenri Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 OK guys, thank you very much for the link (I understand the problem right now) et for your answers I really love this plane, need to fly on it everyday ! Quote
Erretje Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 hmm, most approaches (and SIDs) in North-West of Europe (e.g The Netherlands) uses and NDB in some place or the other. My home base (EHBK) uses one as a holding fix and a line up for all the approaches, would be cool to fly that one dayBeing unable to do that was the only dissapointment after I purchased this otherwise amazing aircraft.(When I bought it, in February I think, I got the feeling it would be updated pretty soon....but I will keep patient ) Quote
tkyler Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 How about a temporary workaround. I could probably put a dialog box in the plugin where you'd just input the adf frequency, this would allow you to utilize ndb with minimal effort Quote

tkyler Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Ok..got it working, but just need to put some "idiot proof" code in. It will work like this:Go to the plugins menus and navigate your way to the SET ADF menu item. A dialog box pops up....and you just enter a 3 digit number in the text field and hit the "SET ADF" button and yer done. Also included is a check box that toggles the ADF power on and off...so if your ADF is off, then you can turn it on with the checkbox. It looks like this... Quote
Erretje Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 That is a very cool solution.Thank you sooo much!I see that you used your Falco in the screenshot, does that mean it works for all aircraft? Quote
tkyler Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Yes, its the easiest solution at the moment. There can be only one aircraft specific plug-in in the aircraft folder. I'd have to add it into the existing code, recompile and redistribute...and because it's a "hack", I prefer not to do it that way. This plug-in will go in the "resources > plugins" folder and be available to all aircraft; however, there'll be a MU2 specific menu item to bring up the dialog. Quote
