Maxime Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 I got my macbook air back from the apple store and i can't seem to get the serial number it shows me this...
eaglewing7 Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Odd, on my iMac when entering that screen Apple Menu > About This Mac what I under the Apple logo is the version of the OS I have installed, Version 10.6.8.To get the serial number I have to go to Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info... > System Profiler which then tells you the serial number under Hardware.Does that work for you?
eaglewing7 Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 How about looking at the package that the laptop came in, normally there is a serial number listed on it.If all else fails, call your local Apple Store or retailer, bring in the computer to the place of purchase, get them to look into the problem, or just call Apple and ask their technical support people. Also, copy and paste this into Terminal and see what happens:/usr/sbin/system_profiler SPHardwareDataType
Ben Russell Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Serial # should be printed/etched on the bottom of the machine, it is on my MBP.On my G5 tower it was inside the case-door, but still very easy to get at.On my iMac G4 it was on the base.
WombatBoy Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Apparently on the MacBook Air's it's on the underside...http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1941I just flipped over my MacBook Pro and it's there, and it's there on every other Mac laptop I've ever had...
