I have know idea what that meansPictures would be great... but, more importantly, please provide the exact flight plan with navaids you are using so I can recreate this. Quote
Cameron Posted June 23, 2013 Report Posted June 23, 2013 I get this "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." It means you're using a file extension that is not accepted. Be sure to use the attachments uploader for your post, and be sure it's a valid file format. PIC is definitely not one, and copying and pasting to the window will not work. Quote

JGregory Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 I can now confirm that this is a bug. I have narrowed it down somewhat but it may take some time to completely resolve. Here is a workaround... Create your flight plan as usual. Then save the plan ("SAVE" Key). Initialize the FMS again ("INIT" Key). Load the flight plan ("LOAD" Key) that you saved. Proceed as usual. The Corvalis should follow your flight plan properly. Quote
Mario Donick Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) Interesting.Following the flight plan was never a problem for me; the plane arrives safely at its destination. However, I noticed that sometimes the "Turn left/right to XXX° NOW" is somewhat unprecise, e.g. it sometimes happens 2 or 3 times before (only 1 or 2 nm) the actual turning point (but only there the plane turns, which is correct). I also noticed that, when no turn is needed, because the next waypoint is straight ahead, it still shows the "turn now" message. Maybe this is related to this CDI bug. This is just an example. The behavior is somewhat unpredictable and inconsistent. There will away be a turn indication with course heading, regardless of course heading change or not when approaching next waypoint. Edited June 26, 2013 by pwalsh2 Quote
pwalsh2 Posted June 26, 2013 Author Report Posted June 26, 2013 Here is loss CDI indication on 2nd leg then the third leg CDI came back but incorrectly displayed. Quote

Mario Donick Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 There will away be a turn indication with course heading, regardless of course heading change or not when approaching next waypoint. Yeah, but it should show the heading currently flown (if heading not changes) and not a wrong number Quote

This is just an example. The behavior is somewhat unpredictable and inconsistent. Just a short report: I manually entered this flight plan and flew it, and I did not recognize the behavior described above. Course on CDI and MFD were always correct, both when I stayed on course, and when I deviated from it. Quote
JGregory Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Yeah, but it should show the heading currently flown (if heading not changes) and not a wrong numberMario,This number may vary by a degree due to rounding. If it is larger than that please let me know. Quote

If so, then that explains why it flew correctly. If not... consider yourself lucky Quote

If not... consider yourself lucky Then I consider myself lucky ;-) I actually tested the same flight with 2 other planes (the Carenado A36 and the Jason Chandler's old, but still nice Cirrus SR22), to compare how the GPS CDI behaves. Exactly the same. Quote

croesch Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 Apparently you won't or can't fix this problem on X-Plane 9. Perhaps you could enlighten us on the nature of the FMS problem. What is causing the problem? What can be done on '9' to minimize the problem. If I upgraded to X-Plane 10, can I use my current Corvalis program or will I need to purchase it again?Charles Roesch Quote

The problem had to do with the way X-Plane wants the data formatted for the FMS. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to "fix" this problem in XP9. The code for the older versions was done in C++. The code for version 1.5 was completely changed to Gizmo (Lua). They cannot be simply interchanged. If you upgrade to XP10 you will be able to get the current version of the Corvalis (1.5) at NO CHARGE! As a Corvalis customer, you should have gotten a notice of the 1.5 upgrade when it was released. If you want to upgrade and do not have the link, please contact Cameron at X-Aviation and he will get you a link for the download. Jim Quote
