Thanks. I'll try your suggestions. Skymaxx cloud fidelity varies from day to day. Sometimes it is perfect and other times it is lousy. Seems to me that Skymaxx works better if the sim is restarted after setting the weather if the cloud cover is being increased and Skymaxx gets confused if the settings are modified in flight.

Using X-Plane 10.3 and the latest Skymaxx Pro, my iMac is unable to simulate fog. Even with the visibility set to zero and clouds down to the ground, visibility is still clear when viewed from above. Zero visibility doesn't take effect until the plane is almost on the ground. Clouds are transparent viewed from above. What settings will simulate fog and low overcast?
  3. I'll try to attach a screenshot. The plane is over PHNL Honolulu on course to PHOG Maui. Notice the airports are on a different magnification scale from the landmass.
  4. I have the same problem about 50% of the time I start up the Corvalis. The MFD GPS waypoints and airports appear on a different scale from the land masses. The waypoints appear about 1/5 as far away as they should. The only solution I've found is to close X-Plane and re-open. I have the latest version.
  5. Excellent. It is working! The Corvalis is the best thing on X-Plane.
  6. I see the improved lighting control but the PFD Nearest Airports window now shows no airports. Can I fix this and, if not, can I get the old Corvalis sim back?
  7. I see the improved lighting control on the new Corvalis but the Nearest Airports window on the PFD is now showing no airports. Is this something I can fix or a glitch with the 1.5.2 version? If the latter, can I get the old Corvalis back?
  8. Thanks. I'll try it. The first screenshot shows PHLI Lihue, Kuaui, Hawaii. The airport is slightly out in the water but it's pretty close. I call this 'normal'. The second is PHNL Honolulu, Hawaii. The destination is PHOG Maui but notice the GPS waypoints are no where near their correct land mass positions. The range circle agrees with the landmasses but the GPS plot appears to be on a different scale. The only solution I've found is to shut down X-Plane and re-boot.

  10. This seems to happen about 50% of the time I boot up X-Plane Corvalis. I do it the same every time so it appears to be random chance. I have screenshots to show you but I don't know how to post them here. The waypoints display on a very wide scale while the land masses and range circle are on a much tighter scale.
  11. The new X-Plane 10 Corvalis indeed appeared to fix the GPS/FMS problem. But now on my Mac, only occasionally, the waypoints and flight plan on the MFD appear to be on a different scale from the land masses. Appears to be a qualitative not quantitative problem as the two are WAY off from each other. This is cured by closing out X-Plane and restarting. But the Corvalis is still the classiest thing on X-Plane.
  12. Apparently you won't or can't fix this problem on X-Plane 9. Perhaps you could enlighten us on the nature of the FMS problem. What is causing the problem? What can be done on '9' to minimize the problem. If I upgraded to X-Plane 10, can I use my current Corvalis program or will I need to purchase it again? Charles Roesch
  13. The Corvalis GPS flight management system flaw continues to be a major nuisance. When will we get a fix? Will you notify us or do we need to search the website for a patch? Charley Roesch
  14. Jim, I'm really looking forward to this update. Charley Roesch
  15. On my Mac, the Corvalis shows only 5 amps on the right alternator with the cross link off while the left shows something like 50 amps. With the cross link on, both alternators show about 35 amps. Is that normal? Why? Charley Roesch
  16. Jim, Specifically, how do we "use the FMS to input an ADF"? Not obvious to me. Charley Roesch
  17. Taste is in the eye of the beholder. I prefer a liverys which accentuate, not cut up, the natural lines of the airframe. Certainly, the Corvalis appears to be a Lancair but I've not found any mention of this on-line. Incidentally, the Corvalis, using terrain mode on the GPS moving map, is the perfect airplane for exploring the Hawaiian islands. Great fun. The Corvalis makes all other X-Plane aircraft obsolete. 18. Sorry I wrote the same post three times. I can't see my own postings. Charley
  19. Jim, Great. Looking forward to the Corvalis update to get the GPS/FMS working. The color moving map GPS really makes this plane. I've not seen this on any other X-Plane aircraft. Why is that? Charley Roesch
  20. Jim, Great. Looking forward to the update. I've never seen the color moving map GPS on any other X-Plane aircraft. Why is that? When everything is working on the Corvalis, it makes all other X-Plane aircraft obsolete.
  21. My Corvalis GPS/autopilot worked perfectly for many 'flight' hours on two different iMacs but suddenly started malfunctioning on one. The OBS needle on GPS frequently points in the wrong direction and won't turn onto the proper track. I've done extensive testing in many locations. The GPS data on the entry pad is correct and the flight plan is correctly displayed on the color moving map but the GPS data at the top of the panel and on the CDI is incorrect. Sometimes, the CDI purple needle starts flickering then the plane suddenly appears sitting on the ground at the nearest airport all shut down as if it crashed. Decreasing some of the rendering details seemed to help some. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without effect. A disc permission scan found one error but that was apparently not to blame. Incidentally, I was told that the color moving GPS map wouldn't work but mine works perfectly on both topo and terrain modes. Fantastic airplane. Charley Roesch croesch@comcast.net
  22. I cannot get the GPS flight plan data entry keys to work. I can get the flight plan to come up but I can't enter any waypoints. Everything else seems to be working.
  23. I downloaded the Cessna Corvalis on X-Plane 9 on my Mac but I can't get the panel electronics to stay on. The battery switches just turn themselves off. Is there a hidden circuit breaker?
