It gets METAR information in "always" mode from a different server, since NOAA shut down the one we (and X-Plane) had been using before. NOAA/NWS isn't going to stop providing METAR data, but they reserve the right to change the way in which they provide it, which is what happened. Now I am confused... didn't you say that the bug will be fixed with a seperate RWC update? When I checked SMP 3.3, there was still the error msg in the MAXX_METAR.wrx Or are you infact talking about this RWC update which I haven't seen? Edited August 28, 2016 by frontendrob Quote
Andyphone Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 Anyway, downloaded again RWC but I still get version 1.0 and the files seem to be the same Wrote to support. Ciao Quote

frontendrob Posted August 28, 2016 Author Report Posted August 28, 2016 I will check. Chances are it's still called 1.0. At least you get E-Mails from X-Aviation 25 minutes ago, Andyphone said: Actually I got an email this morning about a new RWC version available, but in fact I still find the old one on the download page of my account. Andyphone Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 Great! Then no worries. Thanks. Ciao Quote
BeachAV8R Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 I'm somewhat confused. I'm not running the X-Plane beta, and received the two e-mail updates a couple days ago. I've downloaded and installed SMP 3.3 and RWC 1.0 (the most recent on listed in my downloads) but I'm still getting: SkyMaxx Pro: METAR parser enabled SMPMetarBridge: METAR activation fired. 0:00:00.322 E/NET: Download failed with http error: 404 for URL http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/cycles/22Z.TXT Any ideas? Try this: 1. Go into your X-Plane/resources/plugins folder and delete Gizmo64.plugin 2. Re-run the RWC installer Does that solve it? Quote

When I go to install the two newest packages, it does go through the "delete previous version" routine..so I'm not sure why it isn't taking.. Is there a way to verify that the RWC version I've downloaded is the correct one? Quote
BeachAV8R Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 Stupid question..but could the link/download on the ORDER SUMMARY page be different than the one when you go to view that specific order? I had just clicked on the link that was under the Download Links of the order summary and didn't go to the VIEW - then download link. Are they one and the same? Quote
BeachAV8R Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 I have a second install of XP (the beta version) and can confirm that SMP and RWC are working fine in that version: SkyMaxx Pro: METAR parser enabled SMPMetarBridge: METAR activation fired. SkyMaxx Pro: Activating METAR parsing. SkyMaxx Pro: Found new METAR.rwx file SkyMaxx Pro: Parsing METAR data SkyMaxx Pro: METAR parsing took 4429 ms. Quote

That's definitely the newest...and you're SURE you're checking the 'problematic' version? I'm honestly clueless after that. It's the only file that matters in this situation, and incredibly baffling that your other install isn't having such an issue. Where is X-Plane installed? Quote
BeachAV8R Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 And my SMP version.txt is showing 3.3 - so I think I'm all good there. Might be time for a fresh XP install... Quote

Yes - I'm checking the problem version (the non-beta X-Plane). I have it installed to a dedicated SSD with X:\X-Plane 10 being the path. It was working prior to the NOAA data going away..so I'm not sure what changed when I went to update the SMP and RWC files. I don't want to trouble you tonight though..I can work using my XP beta (I'll probably be moving my whole install to that soon anyway). I appreciate the assistance. Quote

X-Plane's own METAR download was broken by the same issue that affected RWC. You need to install X-Plane 10.50rc3 or newer in order to fix that. 1 Quote

Thanks, Frank! I was going under the assumption you were using 'Always' in RWC, Chris. You may want to set it to that in your non-beta version and then you'll have weather again! 1 Quote
