  1. I would think releasing a boxed version would delay the release significantly and eat into their profits.. unless you/we are willing to pay more for a boxed version. I'd prefer to come to this forum and see their announcement of "SAAB 340A CLICK HERE BUY IT NOW OMG," click that link, and be flying the plane 15 minutes later.
  2. Is it common to install an FMC in turboprops? I suppose the Q400 has one, but that one's bigger and longer range than most other turboprops..? Then again I suppose you can retrofit any avionics you want, I've heard that many 727s were outfitted with FMS systems (at least American did so) in their last few years of service, and I'm sure the Garmin 430 moving-map in the 1972 Piper Arrow that I used to fly wasn't factory installed...
  3. lol, Ben.. trolling I see, that's an FSX/FS9 screenshot. The official cockpit screenshots look far better than that and I am anxiously awaiting the ability to purchase and fly this plane. Awesome job (from what I've seen) and thank you for making it a 'study level' sim - I'd prefer to buy nothing else if at all possible. Modeling the CRT warmup times is really awesome too, haven't seen that done before.
  4. I've used Linux for 20 years and developed one of the distributions, back in the day.. I have many Linux boxes in my house and at work, but I still keep a Windows 7 desktop around for games and X-Plane, because I know that's a platform that will always see all the add-ons and such made for it. Why choose one OS or another, when you can have both? Or all three if you really need a Mac for something? Even on the same hardware, you can dual/triple boot (ok, it's a bit tricky to get OSX to boot on non-apple hardware but I hear it can be done; I have never had a need to do so, however.)
  5. That is good - near-100%-procedure-level-aircraft are what I wish to spend my money on, and I avoid the 'lite' stuff.
  6. I know a video would delay things.. but could we perhaps, please, get a screenshot of the cockpit with the avionics switched on? I'd like to see what the panels look like in the 3D cockpit. I remember being very impressed with the detail in the one you guys posted a few months back, I'm assuming it's all nice and polished and put-together now
  7. It's bigger by quite a bit isn't it? I thought the 340A was more comparable to a larger turboprop like a DH8A/DH8B/E120 ?
  8. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Flightfactor 777 uses SASL... because doors...
  9. The METAR says, "Release date light and variable"
  10. ERJ-120 or EMB-120? The latter is a turboprop, not a turbofan. Many VAs including mine fly the EMB-120 (www.flywestwind.com) and it's still a fairly popular regional turboprop. As for the days of people who won't or can't upgrade being dead and buried.. I'm not so sure; We still have a LOT of pilots at WestWind who still fly on FS2004/FS9 due to hardware/budget constraints.
  11. The Embraer-120 would be nice, too. There's already some fairly good [freeware] 1900s for X-Plane, but nobody's made an EMB120 yet that I have seen... Then again, isn't the EMB120 in the same market segment as the Saab 340A?
  12. all the hours have gone... into the clock, I bet
  13. Which do you estimate will release first, the Saab 340A or this 747?
  14. Will it come with a paint kit? I paint for my VA.. in fact I think I'm the only X-Plane painter currently active.. and I'd like to paint this one up too, since I think we already have an FSX Saab340 in there (could be wrong on that; they'll want it anyway ).
  15. fair enough. looks like I need to buy that DC-3, also.
  16. will this plane be available on the 'org store' when it releases?
