  1. Yes, very easy
  2. You'll see I've done a first look at the blog. Might be my last though Really, some of it looks lazily put together. Devs here and elsewhere take their work so seriously, let's all be appreciative of that!
  3. Thanks mate, I forgot about them. Funny, we're only a couple of hrs drive from the big worms, but have never checked them out. I wonder why? They're not lethal - unless you eat a whole one, raw. I hear they taste quit nice poached, a similar flavor to Koala or smoked Echidna http://scienceblogs.com/zooillogix/2008/05/giant_blue_earthworms_and_frie.php
  4. I think this thread will go on forever! Here's another reason not to go (no, we are not trying to put you off coming, really we aren't...It's not like we like to keep it all for ourselves..) http://www.theage.co...0301-1u47o.html
  5. You gotta try taxiing on those!
  6. Stupid question Chris - what should be backed up, just the xplane root directory without all the other dirs like scenery?
  7. Haven't tried it yet, but sounds good- for us Envydia users at least :-) Remember, Ben has said they've re-done the slider, so 40% may not be the same setting as before- its probably lower, but if it still looks good, keep it. Funny, on the weekend I entered thick cloud and the fps shot up to 60! Very different to before, so they're definitely making inroads
  8. My God Warmbrak! You read my mind..
  9. check out all the cool action games out this week, dudes!! http://www.gamefocus.ca/news/16186.html
  10. A coincidence, this just happened http://video.msnbc.msn.com/msnbc.com/46513631/ I wonder why these occur, if basic training covers such risks? A heli version of Gottagetthere syndrome?
  11. Speaking of birds, we still laugh about a BBQ we had up at Merimbula once. A couple of large magpies got very friendly and started eating the margarine straight out of the tub. Funny eh. Even funnier was the sight of our dad running up the hill, chasing a magpie hauling a rather large Tbone steak in its beak, barely gaining any lift as it struggled to make its getaway! We never got it back :-)
  12. Yes, we breed em big here! http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-02-26/driver-survives-highway-collision-with-eagle/3853272 And I bet it was just a baby..
  13. Already tried it. Being an alpha, it's pretty buggy when u try to enter far destinations. Not bad, but I bet once u add all the extra layers of a sim onto it, the fps tanks!
  14. ok my turn, that Caribou looks and feels great over the red centre. Yes I know, I still have a lot of green weed killing to do.
  15. Wow, that middle shot is amazing Md! Really suits france!
  16. That second one was horrid. You can see the forces throw the pilot around, making it even harder to recover.
  17. Bet it's 7, in monochrome! :-)
  18. How did I miss this?! As usual you've picked a unique stylish plane, love it. Even looks a little aggressive. Can't wait.

  20. Great article, thanks!
  21. I recognise much of the above in my own ‘feelings’ (it’s a very personal thing eh?). Like Ola, seeing the physics of planes in xplane was a big buzz, the way vehicles move in-sim is a big plus. Creamy-smooth fps adds a heap to the immersion, so you may see that I’ve lowered my XpX settings a little to keep the frames up. So any add-on that risks this would not be appreciated. Conversely, a high-res, high quality scenery is really cool too! Especially if animated well Variety, imagination, great night lit effects and subtlety add a lot to a good scenery. I hate repeating myself, but just look at Javier’s LESA, pump a few dozen of those out and anyone will do well! Even though I think the plausible terrain is cool and very powerful (and I KNOW, it will get better), flying around your local area with good photoscenery adds a lot to the experience. Anytime I fly from an airport that is really well integrated into the terrain, to another nearby one that’s just as good (I rarely fly more than 30 mins at a time), with great cloudy weather and a killer plane, is a moment to savor. It’s not one thing, but the combo of elements. I had that feel with your KSEA and the default 747 last night, seeing it all run at 25fps at dusk, with all the houses and my CBD in the distance (sorry!), with a low fog layer...it was a good flight!
  22. Welcome! I know for any building or object, the dev needs to give it a 'hard' attribute to make it disadvantageous to your plane's health. I've heard that too many such attributes can slow the fps, but I built a whole CBD that works fine. But if u fly seriously, you shouldn't encounter those situations very often!
  23. Yes it is!
  24. That's progress for you. 2d was good for its time. Things and hardware have moved on. But really well done 2d displays can still be fine, like the x737, ESP with a great FM. Similarly with Greg's F16. Go on, admit it, you cant wait for it to be 3D though!
  25. Nice Chris. That's weird though, the North island was spectacularly green, I mean 'is that grass fake?' type green! God I have so many pics to post, just too lazy to do em all. This one is one of my faves, mt Ruapehu. Taken with my W3, a very lucky shot. Why? Well, taking pics from the outer viewing deck of a train @ 60mph, bumpy, plus with a camera that takes about 1 sec to respond to a button press, such an angle should be considered a fluke! It gives a feel of Armageddon to me.
