  1. They gotta get those cores working. Het, can you do one I'm busting to find out about - 25m visibility (weather settings), HDR On, versus 50, 75 and 100. 5 AI planes. So only variable is visibility. Maybe do it with HDR off as a comparo, 4* convential AA. At this stage I don't know who really has to have more than 5 or so AI planes. If you want to see landings, just film yourself :-) Anyone try Xtraffic yet???!!!!
  2. Hang on, low fps wasn't just XP9's specialty. FSX with UTX excelled too. Ok, I won't put a 580 on my credit card, I won't, I won't.... But it looks like a PCIe 3.0 based PC purchase is on the cards in 2012, just don't tell the missus or my i7 920 (my 'other girlfriend'!) whose 3rd birthday will be this July. Plus I'm hearing some good fixes for xp10 will be coming out soon from Mr Sputnik (hehe).
  3. So my gut feel was right, 5-6 AI planes is the sweetspot. And yay, HDR at night, where dynamic lighting is shown off, has a lesser hit on performance. Ha, this is the first sim that runs smoother at night than day.
  4. So arti, you saying a 580, as it is basically 2 GPU's, wouldn't be taken advantage of? This is starting to sound like a PMDG FSX tweak forum, love it . Also, this PCI3.0 sounds promising, I'm seeing motherboards for sale with it now. But the GPUs arent yet taking advantage of them? Edit - google is my best friend: http://news.softpedia.com/news/AMD-Radeon-HD-7000-GPU-Series-to-Feature-PCI-Express-3-0-Support-212023.shtml Thanks!
  5. Yeah, and the cars at night up close, brilliant. Also, unfortunately, dynamic lighting on scenery, avoiding the use of extra .lit textures, only happens with HDR on. Anyone have a spare GTX580 lying around?

Ok Ola, will do. It's not too hard, the menus have the shortcuts. I need to find out how to slow down the mouse pan view, it's horrible, too jerky
  7. I don't have the snazzy monitor program you have, the windoze one is okay though: Your issue made me double check that I had all 8 virtual cores working, they are, but I didn't have hyperthreading enabled, so now I can see the 4 virtual cores working more than before. no noticeable jump in perf, & I definitely can't run HDR without the frames dropping unacceptably - to 21 fps, not bad though for an early beta!
  8. That is weird. Anyone know of a similar CPU diagnostic program I could use to test mine? In the end it might be good news Arti, once all those cores are used, it should run well. Just when.
  9. great chart Arti. Worrying but good. Are u sure you have multicore enabled? If so, worth reporting!

The new video controls and AI are amazing! Suicidal, but amazing..
  12. Now I'm confused- I can't tell which is the real one now! Sorry, but the fsx one- the flight deck windows look wrong, and those fins up top are in wrong position.
  13. Omg Max, is that the aurora? Gorgeous
  14. Have to admit I never noticed any unusual shapes when drooling over some replays. It is a default aircraft remember. If enough people complain, maybe it'll be adjusted. I'm not complaining, in fact I think it looks better- they should change the RL version! Could you do the same detailed comparo for the fsx default?
  15. You Americans sure know how to celebrate! http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/us-bargain-hunting-turns-violent/story-e6frf7jo-1226206927078 Are there any good deals for pepper spray? Stock up for next yr! I picked up a bargain yesterday- Xplane 10 at its cheapest? At X-Aviation I believe!
  16. ... But my first hurried landing was a bellyflop, talk about wing flex!

  18. Too right, this is a beautiful plane in and out! Even prettier when moving and banking
  19. I have to use 'high' textures to keep silky smooth. if you reeally need to, compress the vram textures. See our latest blog post on my settings and keep in touch with the dev blog at Xplane
  20. Great link! Guys, AA at 4 is more than enough. I wouldn't use xp9 settings as a comparison, this is totally different.
  21. Prepar3d is meant to carry on from where microsoft left fsx. Some talk of future improvements. Orbx have declared an alliance with them. If you've seen my blog post on how incredible xp10 is, you'll know my opinion of its future! No comparison. You won't need orbx. And our planes are better already :-)
  22. I took these pics when first loaded, they didn't have hdr or shadows on, still pretty good! http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/11/24/first-xp10-demo-pics/
  23. Glad u asked Tom that question Ben, I was gonna go for that too. The facade script sounds fascinating Tom, can't wait to use it Tom! Any idea when it'll be out? A blog reader has asked if you are doing O'Hare, u may have a queue of customers :-) ah time, wonderful isn't it. VERY impressed with your demo airport.
  24. Cool P! Is that with low shadows? Even at low setting they look amazing, but do punish my fps.
  25. For some reason I concentrated more on the scenery. Well done Tom, Alex & team! Nice carparks!
