  1. Thanks for the kit Tom, I'll have a good explore as I'm still learning Photoshop techniques and like that layer mask idea. But if I ever did a livery! It wouldn't be conventional....anyone have some good bullet hole brushes?...

Goran, you can make ANYTHING look cool, like, even a Dinosaur.

Ha, funny! Getting gizmo to show petrol splash on ground? Never ending possibilities..
  4. That's bad news Benny, no data for new York?! Fat chance for my home base of Easter Island then!

Well worth the wait G. That's the best rendered barbecue trailer with shower I've ever seen
  6. Thanks Oliver. Can u guys post some screens of your areas? I still haven't got round to trying it
  7. Very impressive Benny! Is the fps ok with all those buildings?
  8. Thanks Kaph and Wombatboy, interest noted. Yes, in a way I'm hoping interest is NOT there! It'll be a challenging project. Isn't anything new?
  9. Hi Everyone, just posted this response to the 'vigorous' discussion about why FSX developers have yet to move over, ESP for scenery, over at the blog. Feel free to add your opinion or thoughts, plus let me know what u think about our proposal about a volunteer scenery 'SWAT' team to create some massive, good scenery. One good sized airport in a month sound workable? Simon http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/01/30/xplane-scenery-debate-continued/
  10. Gianluca, I have rexplane, it's great, but only available for windows. Each pc will need a unique setup. Try these great resources: http://wiki.x-plane.com/Setting_Up_X-Plane_for_Best_Performance#Optimizing_X-Plane.27s_Performance http://xplanescenery.blogspot.com/2010/02/x-plane-is-all-you-can-eat-buffet.html I'm in a bad timezone, so someone will send u a config well before me. Try to maximize texture resolution and make sure u unclick that compress VRAM option unless u have a really bad pc. Have fun with xplane!
  11. Ha, until I landed! That's C74's 206, a smooth handler, did my first oil rig landing in her.
  12. Ok, enjoy your flight over the new grass/flowers! This is the link to the instructions & example files for 'growing' ;D grass
  13. Wow, that is a cool setup! Nice touches, like the 'dome' light. You should cover it with red cellophane at night!
  14. Hehe, sorry chaps. I admire that pilot, you can see him timing his descent just at the right time. Hope it was a rental.
  15. Yeah, vomit comet, like this! Good spins in your vid
  16. Ditto, I love the look of that Wilga, would love someone like Javier to do that one!
  17. Exactly what I guessed you wanted Kaphias, good, so I'll do it. Oh dear, do I ever FLY in xplane? Between scenery, videos, blog work, not often enough! A broad hobby at least. I must be sick, I get a real buzz when a new building or grass looks good.
  18. Good Idea Kaph, chip has been onto me for awhile for one. But I haven't been in the condition to do it until now, but I have to kill KMMH first, and before the MASSIVE LFPN starts. What aspects are u interested in? I assume how to apply textures compatible with xplane? There are many good video tutes for basic s.u. use, but few for xplane application. In case everyone is wondering, no, it's crap for aircraft design.
  19. Very funny G! Amazing twitter AI. same here, Xplane is solely to blame :-) I've noticed a lot of flightsim fans are not the sleek fighter pilot type- more the 25 year veteran food services manager breed.
  20. Goofy screenshot of the day, experimenting with .for forest specification. Whoops..
  21. I also missed the fact that there are NO cars in this scenery, unlike Reno. Nope, this is not 'the best'. It's good in terms of size, general quality, Im glad i got it, but I just don't know why they say it's the best. You guys are the quality leaders :-)
  22. Finally, 4 DVDs installed @ 20 mins each approx. Not too painful. First pics here A more thorough review at the blog soon. This is bang for buck scenery, not as perfect as Realscenery's, but massive scale and still good quality. Weird colouring issues every now and then, but offset by some nice colours elsewhere. Absolutely no night textures. Frightening at 2am..
  23. Finally received pack 3 of the RC Simulations UK scenery, about 10 days delivery to Downunder, not bad (but an agonising wait). ;D Good news - very nice packaging and support material > Bad news - I was expecting 16 gigs for 4 DVDs. Noooooo, it decompresses to....... SIXTY THREE GIGABYTES. No part-installation possible. This better be good. Taking 15 minutes to decompress each DVD. A more subtle/selective installation process would be great. But then again, once it's all done, it's over with.
  24. I think it would also depend on the quality of the data. If the OSM data from a particular locale was sparse or lacking, Laminar might be better off using procedural roads. That's really a question for Ben, tho. Thanks Dp. What 'data' do they need, there's alot of map detail for Australia I notice, but I don't know if there's other metadata (or whatever you call it) that's lacking behind the scenes?
  25. OSM is worldwide, so they better do that or else. Good news Theo, if the library parameters are easy, we should see varied looks across the world, not the same fence with green trellis. We'll need some half-demolished ones for country australia& NZ. I hope it can be randomized in the one area, eg 2 types of boundary fence.
