  1. Cameron, I would have thought these instructions needed to be more prominent, but if you say it's so rare, then it's up to you. Must be my bad luck. I thought things were fine myself, until today when I had it recur on installing the patch. Used these instructions but later it returned, a concern, as i swear I did it correctly. If it happens again I'll send my log.txt- I wasted a couple of hrs reinstalling due to my fmc etc screens not working. Otherwise no probs, a stunning plane. I'm nowhere as into the systems yet as others, I would have been if I didn't have to reinstall. I wanted to get used to the handling, so persevered with no working screens. Surprisingly easy, just used the sounds as a cue for rpm and speed. You can really feel the weight and inertia. Quite pleased with this landing as a result:
  2. Hi guys, I keep having to search for 'crj hardware' to find the below solution I use to fix my install (just installing the patch now). can post 79 be added as a sticky or inserted in the known bugs sticky? Ta http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=2060.15
  3. Very nice Oliver! That low morning light made some beautiful reflections. Funny, many people would hate a 3hr delay, but us aviation fans see it as an opportunity to see more stuff happening.
  4. Not done by the real FMS - we use a flip book of Vspeed cards for each weight - If it would please the crowd, I can put those together as a PDF to help people pre-plan. Again, not done by the real one - all you do is enter your dispatched fuel qty in PERF INIT. See my first point. Advisory VNAV is a carrier option, and the plane is perfectly operable without it. Also, Javier has stated on multiple occasions that it will be added in a future update. Javier and Philipp have admitted a shortcoming here and have resolved to address it in a future update. I'll agree the FMS isn't perfect yet. Indeed compared to the real thing it has a fair ways to go, but you should judge it on its merits compared to other offerings on the X-Plane market and on its faithfulness to the real thing rather than on some wish for it to automate every aspect of the flight - even the real one doesn't do that! Brilliant suggestions Dhruv! Please post PDFs, and I'll post to the Blog too. The more real life resources we have, the better. Thanks for your input, it lets us simmers know that things are on par with the reality. I'm sure your training is tough, but you're living our dream, good on you!

    CRJ-200

Keep an eye on the blog, Chip, Mateus and I will be pulling it apart (yes, it will take 3 of us). I can already give you MY honest opinion, just from one takeoff. THIS is the plane that should have been released for $50 :-) Or $10. Everyone should experience it. A more thorough opinion piece in the works..
  6. Hehe, sleep..not for you, bub will wake every 2-3 hrs regardless of time, for feeding, so your recent sleepless nights are good practice! Funniest thing I heard in pregnancy classes- 'babies don't read birthing manuals!'. No plugins available yet!

Yes, it definitely feels heavy, you can feel the force of gravity working against you.
  8. Good post! More like $'s for nappies, nappies and more nappies! Sheesh they go thru them! Better than hand cleaning them though!

Thsnks O, beautiful plane. Very easy on the eye.
  11. It's mainly just experience. Unfortunately there isn't many video enhancing plugins. It just takes time to master the smooth panning and shooting. Oliver -Sent from my iPad Summed it up perfectly Oliver. Learn to use Cntrl-O and freebies cam. Typed on my iPhone 3GS to be shredded on receipt of iPhone 5

I just got her working. Freaking amazing work guys! This is just a first effort, linked the the blog article: http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/first-video-of-the-crj-200-at-night/
  13. I had a similar problem AGAIN with my windows PC. I followed these instructions from Cameron, as well as ensured I moved the x737 from my aircraft folder, everything sweet now! Everyone, if you are like me and load the plane up the first time, can take off (just) but the screens are blank, try this (Windows only I think?) 1. Run the CRJ Installer. 2. When installing the C++ package, this time select to remove it. 3. After installation of the tester is finished, restart your computer. 4. Once your computer has booted back up, run the installer again. This time it should proceed with a regular C++ install without asking you to repair or remove. 5. Run the tester.
  14. Easy, just use a video editor to splice the tracks together. I use Sony Vegas home, I'd love to use iMovie, but I'm pc based. If you get into movie making, you might end up like me and leave 90% of your takes on the cutting room floor anyway
  15. Wow, looks like your system is too powerful for this bird!! Slick setup
  16. Hehe, so they call that an Auxilliary, Auxilliary Power Unit?!
  17. The limitations of the freeware are that it only records 30 second clips. I use Fraps as well and it is a great tool! Yep, and it has that little watermark up top, but it's easy to crop out. I prefer to just use the built in QuickTime recorder, no sound but there are creative ways around that, plus fps is much smoother.
  18. Chip is quick! He reports about 50 fps with Godzilla. http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/05/08/crj-first-impressions/ Congrats everyone, must feel good! Paella and Sangria for everyone! Perhaps after the next few hrs.. I'll buy in 12 hrs time (the plane!!), off to bed now.
  19. Where is Hal, actually?! I finally gave all his classics a try, some real good ones in the mix! Click here Must-tries = 'Locust' and the nasty test course + the Dolphin II, a mini-Osprey. These'll keep you busy while angsting over the CRJ release!
  20. Be still my beating heart, that scared me! Thanks K! I'd love to know the hit count for the XA main page lately, bet it's up!
  21. Beat me to it, what a sorry short list of scenery. One day I'll do one pack. But the Melbourne and sydney airports aren't bad...not amazing though. Thank God for Baz!
  22. Welcome! I'm in Melbourne and there are a couple of other Aussies hanging around here. Agree, I've pleaded with Eric of Realscenery for Aust'n photoscenery, but I suppose our market isn't big enough. So G2 is your friend- I rarely fly anywhere in Australia without using it, Tassie come up very well in it.
  23. One of the best python ones. And Arnaud may say one of the worst French accents! The meaning? Don't eat too much, too fast..
  24. Ha, I'm Australian (ex pom though) and never knew what the blue meant! There'll have to be a new nickname- looks a bit maggoty to me.
