Hi there, Why is Linux so underestimated? Still no Gizmo, now that... Will CRJ be Windows/Mac only as well? Not complaining, just stating. Kind regards, Kamil
-
woweezowee, last of you pictures made me to get her to my hangar. Great work guys! She has beauty internal. Really nice plane, just missing ailerons trim (I've read other posts about it). King regards, Kamil.

Thanks for that garrettm30. It seems to be solving my problem at least partially. Ball is not as stable as it used to be and requires a bit of rudder input. Now I need to learn how to use rudder. Thanks once again. Kamil.

Hi, And this is a thing. I do have yaw controllers - not pedals, but my joystick can rotate (Saitek x52) to control rudder. It works just fine but unfortunately somehow X-Plane still does coordinate turns for me. Tried with wide variety of planes both freeware and payware. Any hints? Kind regards, Kamil

Hi woweezowee, Many, many thanks for those links! Will get a huge amount of knowledge out of it! Big thanks. But my question still remains - how do I prevent X-Plane from auto coordinating my turns? Kind regards, Kamil

Dear All, As my flying skills are still very limited I am watching tons of videos and reading stuff. Have came across videos of someone doing PPL. One of his problems with understanding how to fly was very low rudder controller usage - instructor pointed it out as extremely important. And that makes me wonder. I am not using rudder at all (except for taxiing). Never felt like I had to. Then I dig a bit a little deeper and realized that while banking ball should be kicked off out of the middle. In my case it never does it. In fact, to get the ball out of the middle I need to suddenly and aggressively use rudder. Have read more and find out that there is a thing called autocoordinator which does turn rudder for you. More research revealed that in x-plane it should be automatically turn on if there is no yaw axis set up in configuration. As you can clearly see on the screenshot below I do have it set up. I am using x52 if that matters. How can I turn it off (if that is the case)? Thank you kindly for any hints, Kind regards, Kamil

Hi, I have no problems either. Try to unzip it with different software, it might help. Good luck Kesomir. Kind regards, Kamil.

Hi, And here she is! ;-) And beautiful she is. Regards, Kamil

Not yet, as far as I remember it will be delivered with v5 version. Kind regards, Kamil.

Hi there All, For ones that have missed that great news. Kind regards, Kamil

Hi Simon, I did not try to say a single negative word about X-Plane. And all you have said is very true and I entirely agree with every statement. However, Checklist plugin just to mention one is not available for Linux. This is very pity as it would add a lot of reality on one side and make easier starting those complicated birds (even real pilots might forgot something so the have those in place ) on the other hand. I do love flying on X-Plane but I believe we have to stand up and speak up if there is something wrong, we should be pain in the neck and complain - this is one of the ways to make it a higher class product. I know how it sounds for developers now. Sorry guys, you are doing great job! I think not getting an advantage from the fact that X-Plane is a multiplatform application is some kind of a shooting an own foot. There is a possibility, lets build base of our application to run on many architectures/platforms and be ready for future releases to be available for wider audience. It might be painful and expensive process at the beginning but it might pay itself off later on, maybe not with first product, first release, but with time it might be cost-effective. I think (even though my English is so bad - apologies for that ) I have clarified my point of view. I did not try and attempt to sound grumpy. If you had had such an impression that it might be caused by lack of my English skills. Kind regards, Kamil

One 100% sure client is right here.

Please do not get it as moaning or complaining. Just my two cents. Releasing multiplatform applications is so easy nowadays that every company which is moving towards providing solutions for multiplatform applications is not really good on business planning. I do understand that they have quickly ported theirs product to go along with x-plane. By this they still restricted themselves to Windows platforms. I do not understand why they do not move towards multiplatform solution instead of just porting to Mac OS (which I think was announced). Mac OS is an Unix. Please, do not get me wrong here, what I am trying to say is that X-Plane is so popular at the moment because it was available to different platforms. To be honest, if I were a Windows user I would probably be flying PMDG's planes, deriding X-Planes lack of proper ATC, hi-class planes (changing as we speak), hi-class addons like REX, etc. Seriously, I love X-Plane and not trying to knock off anything from it but it was (and still is) 2nd Flight Sim, not the 1st one unfortunately. Kind regards, Kamil.

Hi there, @Cameron - you seem like being in touch with REX Team. Do you know or could you find out please if they are planning releasing a Linux version as well? Thank you kindly, Kamil
-
No Linux version. boo. Does anyone know if they are planning to release one? Kind regards, Kamil

I am sure you will be fine. Two common problems are: 1) openal shared lib not being found (simple link can fix it) 2) network not being recognised (make sure you have a proper FQDN set up in your /etc/hosts - or at least localhost being mapped to your hostname) If in problem, give us a shout - I am sure someone will be able to give you detailed help. Good luck!

Hi there, You can see ma HW spec in my footer. I am easily getting more than 70fps when flying high and way over 30-40 on low altitides. Here is my configuration (I am running maximised window in 1680x1050 because for some weird reason it locks in FS). Flying over Sola (ENZV) with Javelin 1.3 at very low alt I am still getting around 40fps. Kind regards, Kamil

It happens on my machine as well. Is not as monster as yours (I have more memory on GPU though) but still, should be good enough. That makes me wonder… How about those planes being developed here? Will they be as heavy on my machine as ERJ is? Or is it just poor ERJ's modeling? I know nothing about 3D. But if CRJ will behave the same - that will be a little disaster. I might try Lite version at some point - but... I paid for a full one. ;( Kind regards, Kamil.

Hi there, I am running Linux (Gentoo Linux) and x-plane too. No problems at all. There is number of plugin missing for Linux, for example CheckLister is not available. ;( If you will have any Linux related problems do not hesitate to send me a PM and I will try to help you. Kind regards, Kamil

Hi there All, It is really nice plane indeed. Lacking little bit of textures in cockpit though, otherwise is pretty good. I came across one weird thing and want to ask if anyone of you got the same issue. Before you start the engines moving throttles back and forward decreases and increases sounds level. What is that? Kind regards, Kamil.

What aircraft types would you like us to do most?

Hi there, Please don't get me wrong but I reckon you meant v4 of x737, haven't you? I am also waiting for those birds. And for gizmo (Linux version) so I can fly Falco! Have a nice weekend! Kamil. -
This is great news! Thanks for posting this. Will surely get this one once released. They mention nothing about airport buildings. Do you know anything about those? Have a good evening, Kamil.
-
Hi there Indi, I can't infer from your message if that release will include Linux version as well. Could you please clarify it a bit. Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Kamil.

Bummer of a weekend. My Dell XPS 700 has died

It might be hopeless but try to download any Linux LiveCD, boot it and try to mount your old hard drive within Linux env. Is has been proven that sometimes Windows says 'no' while Linux can still easily mount partitions. It might be worth to try. If in doubt do not hesitate to send me a PM. Good luck! Kind regards, Kamil -
Really nice picture. Make myself (and not myself alone I think) really horny for her. Would love to put my hands on her. Sorry if that sounds like it has two minings. Looking forward to fly her!
