I understan that creating a scenery from scratch is a lengthy process that requires a considerable amount of time and dedication, first on the research and then in the development it self. I've noticed that sceneries are usually released as a single aerodrome or airport and that most developers concentrate in one single airport at the time and usually a major hub, like KJFK, KLAX, etc. Which makes sense to me since small aerodromes are only popular for people that either live in the area and want to to fly locally or for someone that has visited the place and want to recreate a trip; but how about a series of the most difficult or dangerous airports in the world. For a while I have been looking for converted from MSFS or even native files to convert to XP of the known 10 most weird or dangerous airports to land, and I've found some but not all. in XP9 Lukla was possible to land at but in XP10 with the rwy follows the contour... is just impossible, there are some sharp edges on the runway. It is not even possible to start at the runway without crashing, which is a bummer. I remember last years or perhaps 2 years ago there was an attempt to make an online fly-in and the route was from Katmandu to lukla. It was a lot of fun and quite challenging. I guess my suggestion is that: To make a series of airports/aerodromes of the most difficult or dangerous airports in the world: http://www.squidoo.com/weird-airports

File Name: Aromexico (old livery) for Boeing 767-300ER BWL File Submitter: scubajuan_new File Submitted: 20 Nov 2012 File Category: Heavy Metal X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 9 & 10 Livery For: Click Here For Aircraft Photo realistic repaint of Aeromexico 767-300ER for the B767-300ER BWL by Michael Chang (zroman). There is a texture glitch on the base of one of the wings, which I could not fix because is a problem of the model maping the texture from the tail section, and the lit texture seems to be obscured somehow and does not show as intended (only the tail). I hope in the near future this issues can be fixed. I will be making both the old and the new liveries of all the variants of the B767. Enjoy Click here to download this file

Take Command! CRJ-200 Version 1.5.2 Update Released!
scubajuan_new replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Does this update makes it work with XP 10.2 Beta (x64)? if not, when can we expect an update for x64 support? I read Philip on another thread mentioning that CRJ was supporting x64, but I updated the sim to the latest beta and CRJ doesn't work. Thanks -

Take Command! CRJ-200 Version 1.5 Update Released!
scubajuan_new replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Just downloaded and installed the update, Thanks! I have a couple of suggestions for you guys: The update process erased (restored to original) the navigraph FMC data that was installed, perhaps the installer could check if there is a more recent data installed and not replace it. How about placing another item in the airplane menu of the FMC to open (toggle) the doors? I find somewhat difficult to get near the click spots to do so. Great product! keep up the good work. -
"What is the purpose of the propeller? The purpose of the propeller is to keep the pilot cool. You don't believe that? If the propeller stops, watch how the pilot starts to sweat."

I will redirect this in the CRJ support section. Thanks guys. PS. That looks like a bumpy ride, but not as bumpy as falling spiralling down hehe.

I posted this in another thread but decided to create a new one since the other thread seemed a bit outdated: Now that XP10 is out and even though the weather has some significant changes in reference to XP9 (I think mostly visual stuff), I would like to share my experience in the 2012 FS Lan Part in Belgium organised by the IVAO Belgian Division: http://www.fslanparty.be First of all it was a memorable event for me since is the first of this kind of events that I attend. there were over 50 pilots and a good and sufficient number of ATC covering the main positions for the scheduled flights. This weekend the location for all the flight was the caribbean and it happen to be really stormy in some of the locations (TFFR and TNCM). Also I would like to mention that I was the only pilot flying on X-Plane. For the event I chose the CRJ200 with a free FWI (Air Caraibes, French West) livery. I wanted to do all flights in sequence based on TFFR (home of Air Caraibes). I arrived a bit late to the event (during the welcoming briefing) and by the time i got set up and ready to file my first flight plan, most of the planes departing from TFFR were either taxiing or taking off, so I sat and watched the Boeing 737's, Avros, ATR's, Airbuses and the like take off in the heavy rain with no problems and I thought to my self "courage you can do this too Juan" So I got everything ready and begin my procedures to start, taxi and line up, looking really nice with the JRollon's great rain drops and wipers effect, everything so far with no problems other than the drop in frame rate do to the intensive traffic and significant weather. I got clearance, lined up and push the throttle, having some difficulties to stayed on the center of the runway (I don't have rodder pedals) but not too bad, got positive rate of climb, gear up and start to gain altitude and speed, but as soon as I reached the first layer of clouds between 180 and 220 KIAS climbing on RWY HDG, the turbulence was so intense that busted my airframe and went down in flames as I was being watch over my shoulder by a few visitors and other members. Oops, lets try again... and this happen to me 3 times in a row and I was forced to change my departure point to a location without the severe weather. As i was approaching TNCM where the weather was no so bad ( still rainy and with poor visibility but at least the weather radar on my instruments was not ALL RED like in TFFR, boom first bit of turbulence encountered at about FL080 descending at 240 KIAS and there goes the airframe again. This was starting to be really annoying. It got to the point when I switched the IVAO WX Off after an initial download ad disabled the turbulence off so I could complete a flight at least. Bottom line is the turbulance in X-Plane is just too unrealistic cuz I know airplanes are designed to fly trough turbulence specially at low speeds without breaking up in mid air, and another thing I would like to see improvement in XP is the representation of other traffics (none of the other planes looked like they were supposed to be). Is there a way to tune real weather turbulence to a more realistic level? is there a library of generic planes without the complex 3d models to use just as either AI traffic or online traffic? Thanks to Aerosoft and Peters Aircraft for donating great products for X-Plane for prices (A full X-Plane 10 Global, Toulouse Scenery and a the new A321) I am the happy winer of the Airbus, just waiting for instructions of where to download and how to install form Peter. Yuhoo! Thanks for reading Juan.

I will try this settings when i get home, what is your default screen resolution?
-
1440x900, 32 bit at full screen
-
I tied the settings as described above and still get really poor performance. Something must be wrong, maybe is a driver issue. but since in mac osx there is no way to update the GPU drivers or tweak it maybe in an other platform...? In the default MMAA (acapulco) with no scenery in the area I only got 11FPS which is not acceptable. Rendering 2.tiff
-
Thanks a lot Chris I will try this settings. What is 3-D bump-maps, gritty detail textures, volumetric fog and per pixel lighting? And still the question remains about under which operating system x-plane has the best performance
-
So, I've got the upgraded macbook pro with retina display (2.6 Ghz quad i7, 8GB Ram, 512 GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1gb VRAM) and so far am very disappointed with the performance of X-plane 10 running on Mac OSX 10.8.2, with very basic rendering options the frame rate crawls below 10fps. With CRJ200 at a location without any custom scenery with the rendering settings as shown the sim is so slow that is impossible to fly. I guess my question is for any of the fine developers that frequent this site that test their products on multiple platforms. I would like to know which platform delivers the best performance. My current instalation of X-Plane takes about 75 GB of disk space and I don't mind creating a partition with Boot Camp exclusively for X-Plane. I am willing to try anything. Thanks Juan Rendering.tiff

Hi Colin, I am so excited to read that someone is interested in doing Kauai. I lived there for a few years and as you said is and amazing place for VFR flying, I must have over 500hr logged just flying in Kauai (xp9). I did fly several times while there both in helicopter and the cute biplane. You ask for othophotos, I would like to contribute. I don't own any but if you know how to get them and if they are not too expensive I can chip in, I would love to fly over Hanalei Bay again, along the Napali coast and down the Waimea Canyon. In your poll I say princeville because that is where I always take off and land from (was very close to my house) but the lihue apt will perhaps be more useful for thse inter island cruises. I have tons of friend there and one of them is a reat pro photographer, I can ask him for specific photos for the hotels and special buildings. my skype: scubajuan and email scubajuan@gmail.com. contact me and let me know how i can help.

Installing and running OverlayEditor
scubajuan_new replied to scubajuan_new's topic in Scenery Development
Thanks Chris, I downloaded WED and still trying to figure it out, I have patience and too much time in my hands hehe. I'll get it done some day. -
Hello everyone. So Here I am trying to convert the Flymex scenery of Mexico to xp v10. After installing windoze7, FS2004 and the mentioned scenery in virtual machine using vmware fusion, converted the scenery using fs2xp windows version. Until here all works fine. Well, except that the scenery created does not mach the default xp air port, so I am trying to edit usin overlay editor and here is where I can't find a solution: If i run overlayeditor on the virtual pc it gives me an error saying that my graphic card does not support OpenGL, which it does (just the virtual pc might not) so I tried to run overlay editor on mac osx 10.8.1, but tells me that wx phyton is not installed that requieres wxPython 2.5.3 or later. I downloaded the latest version of wxPython I believe is 2.8.12.1 universal-py2.6 or something like that, but when I try to run overlay editor it keeps telling me that wxpython is not installed. Does anybody have the same problem or a possible solution? Thanks

[SOLVED] Primary display don't start...
scubajuan_new replied to Luca Pierino's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Voila! After reinstalling several times du to x-plane crashing after running out of memory and freezing the entire computer, tuning down the rendering options, deleting the x-plane preferences folder (I could not set the speed bug, it reset to 0 every time I tried to set the speed, which I read on another thread), I manage to make my first successful flight. Yuhu!. I can't wait for a 64bit version of x-plane to come out. this running out of memory and system crashing really sucks, and lowering the rendering options to manage the vram use to around 460MB when the GPU has 1GB to keep the program somewhat stable is a bit disappointing. I understand that x-plane is a work in process and that the updates come frequently and substantial and that is only a matter of time until x64 comes out, but hey! It has been over a year since I bought the CRJ200 and finally made a successful flight and landing. I am a happy camper. Thanks for the beautiful airplane to all involved and keep up the good work. -

Thanks for the quick response cameron. That's right, I am on a brand new macbook pro retina 2.6ghz. Mac OSX 10.8, running X-Plane 10.10 beta 8. I did upgraded to OSX 10.8 first thing after receiving the machine prior to installing X-Plane and the x-aviation planes. I tried renaming the custom scenery folder and creating an empty one, removing all additional plugins (x-ivap, x737FMC) and changing the rendering options for texture resolution to low. Crossed my fingers and no luck. I still can't find the way to attach the log file, so my apologies for posting it like this: log.txt for X-Plane 10.10 Beta 8 X-Plane 101008 compiled on Aug 11 2012 13:09:59 This log file is generated automatically by Laminar Research applications and contains diagnostics about your graphics hardware, installation, and any error conditions. [SOLVED] Primary display don't start...
scubajuan_new replied to Luca Pierino's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
I seem to have the same problem ( the two main display not powering up) I installed x-plane and the crj also on mac os 10.8, I tried with the EPU, APU with both engines running, and the respective generators connected and nothing. I don't know how to attach the log file.
