Hi AJ, missed your post earlier (Cooking the cristmas lunch) If you can get this to happen again (or you haven't flown since), save the METAR.rwx file in the X-Plane folder and winzip it and attach to your next post, along with the ICAO code for the nearest airport, and altitude you were flying at. The other thing you can check is the Aircrafts total weight in X-Plane, I bet you find it's "put on alot of weight". I can almost guarantee that you were using "X-Planes REAL Wx" feature and XP10's over active weather interpretation was to blame for the aicraft icing up and crashing. NO aircraft is immune from the effects of the weather and "real aircaft do crash even though they had anti-icing fitted", all RW anti ice is designed to do is give the aircraft time to get out of the dangerous icing area. To will not protect the aircraft in all possible icing conditions indefinately!! Unfortunately IMHO XP10.10 and above have "overactive" Wx that will bring down any aicraft correctly modeled (i.e. it's not the aircaft model, it's the XP Wx model that's at fault (IMHO that is). Got to go and lie down, too much brandy in that Christmas pud!! cessna729.

  5. Hi, to one and all at this festive time! In case anyone is missing having joystick prop control (using a spare axis and not button), you can still use F3 and F4 on your keyboard to vary the prop control in the new BAE-32 ver 1.01 (as axis prop control has been removed from ver 1.01). Listed in FIXES #2 on Cameron's post. If like me, you miss having prop control on your joystick, just assign two buttons to sim/emgines/prop_up and prop_down . Cos, you still have mouse control of the props. All the new liveries are fantastic and all ready just in time for Christmas , so here's wishing Javier and Cameron a well erned Christmas vacation! cessna729.

If you did have any slight problem with your setup (which I don't expect you will having read the manual ), Javier, Camaron and the rest of us "sim pilots" who inhabit the X-Aviation forums, will give you a hand to get it sorted!   8. Guess maybe it depends on which TPE331 engine variant Javier has modeled as to wether the aircraft is overpowered? I believe (ref: Type Acceptance Report TAR 96/12), the original Jetstream 3100 series had TPE 331-10Uxx-5xxH Variant rated at 940 shp, and the Jetstream 3200 series had the newer TPE 331-12Uxx-70xH Variant rated at 1010 shp (exact figure varies with mod state). That's quite a bit more power. A very good source of info on the TPE331 is the Pilot Tips document. cessna729. p.s. I havn't had this much fun with a new "sim" aircarft in a long time.
  9. ----- On page 57 of Javiers excellent manual, he has listed the "Shutdown Procedure", I've not got "XACARS", so can't test if it works sending a PIREP. I suggest you follow the whole after landing ect checks before shutting down. cessna 729.

As an ex flight instructor, I applaud Javier's modelling of the "control locks", and I do know this is only a simulator, but complacency around aircraft (i.e. taking control locks for granted) can have serious consequences . I had intended just to post a link to the video, but decided against it as I didn't want to upset anyone. Cessna729.

Never actually got to fly a BAe-32, but I believe the fact that the BAe-31/32 had both props CCW and the right engine as the "critical engine" so much so that for the BAe-41 they decided to have the engines rotating in oposite directions:That fact IMHO, gives Javier's BAe-32 "character" ok so maybe the right wing drops a little as the aircaft leaves "ground effect", but that add's to the "emersive effect" of his model mimicking "real life".   14. Yep! RW transponders (SSR) use octal coding, hense the digits 0-7, Transponder codes are four digit numbers transmitted by the transponder in an aircraft in response to a secondary surveillance radar interrogation (SSR). For more info : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transponder_%28aviation%29 and a list of the commonly used "squarks" or codes used. At the moment the BAE-32 occasionaly displays the non-octal digits 8 and 9 as shown below. The first time in a flight it appears to work ok, but if you attempt to change "squark" a couple of times in a flight, sometimes the digits 8 and 9 "slip in", it's no problem, it just needs the user/pilot to re-tune the correct digits. http://youtu.be/kqmxwQKDN1s Opps!.   15. The following is from "bits" of a very old crew manual. (might be a slightly different Mk from the one Javier has modeled).Flying for Best Altitude. To acheive best gross preformance the RPM should be set to 100%. the power lever should be advanced to Redline torque or Redline EGT whichever comes first. the aircraft should be flown at the Single Engine EnRoute Climb Speed. The setting of the air conditioning flow selectors is quite critical in achieving the best performance, so use as "low" a flow as possible to just maintain cabin pressurisation. Flying for Best Range. If altitude is not critical, the following procedure should be followed - this will give improved aircraft handling and a small improvement in range. Set the RPM to 97%, set the Power levers as in "Flying for Best Altitude", fly at 140kts, set air conditioning flow selectors as in "Flying for Best Altitude". Once the aircraft has stabillised, especially at lighter weights, it may be necessary to reduce power to maintain an airspeed of 140kts. cessna729.

Hi sam, if I understand you correctly, you've been able to use the X-FMC plug-in with the Javier's BAE-32 no problems when you start engines running (when Javiers BAe-32/X-plane initalises all the aircraft systems), but when "you" start X-Plane "Cold and Dark", "you" have problems with this X-FMC plug-in?I suspect that your not getting the aircraft systems into the same state (as "engines running") i.e. "you", the pilot have not switched all the correct switches (most likely the ones on the GPS or A/P or connected to some sub-system that Javier's BAe-32/X-Plane auto inialises when started "engines running"). cessna729.

  22. Hi Jerry, Do you mean like this? or are you refering to a shutdown in-the-air? All I did was select LEFT and RIGHT L.P. COCKS to SHUT on the overhead Engine Management panel. Note: Once you have shut down the engines on the ground, just press F3 and F4 on your keyboard and watch the prop blade angle changing, it's a very clever animation! especially as this little bird can manage to do that with no hydraulic pressure registering on the gauges . cessna729.

Hi sopwith, as Javier suspects you were stalling the aircraft and the stick pusher was going off, if you just press the stall warning lights on the dash you can disarm the stickpusher and just get the stall warning as per my short vid: p.s.
