  1. I'm pleased to announce our new project the Virtavia Westland Sea King helicopter by Dawson Designs. This is a conversion from FSX and builds extensively on the original with many new and improved areas, increased functionality, high quality realistic sounds and many parts built from scratch. It will be released in the early part of the new year for X-Plane 10 on Windows, Mac and Linux with 64bit compatibility. It will have around 20 liveries and several different variants. In developing this version I've read reviews of the FSX version and improved upon those areas that were criticised, for example the main rotor and tail rotor are brand new and include lightweight Carson blades, the landing gear has been re-modelled, and there's a brand new winch, along with with much more. There's a full 3D cockpit with every needle built from scratch. The FSX version only has flat 2D textures so all the gauges have had to be extensively worked on, the HSI and horizon gauges are also brand new. Anyway, here's a few work in progress shots: Interior shots: New rotor heads:

  6. New MD-902 Explorer about to be released at the org.
  7. MD-902 Explorer working nicely in X-Plane 10.
  8. The BK-117 is actually better for this as it now has a plugin to fix the ETL (effective transitional lift) problem in the XP9 flight model. The sudden drop is not correct and is a well known XP9 bug, you can avoid it by keeping a descent speed of 300-500fps and increasing power at the right time, although it still catches me out occasionally too! But if you want to go one better buy XP10 as the ETL error has been fixed and helicopter flight dynamics in general have been improved.
  9. MD-902 landing at an oil rig in the gulf of Mexico.
