Been some time sine i actually modeled the parts in the images bellow but i decided to render em up. The gaps will obviously be filled in in the future but the panels are pretty much modeled and ready for texturing. Again, this was done like tow months ago, and wont be getting its final touches for another month or so. not till the exterior is finished for the most part.

I feel bad for anyone who buys that bird. not only is the poly-count appalling but the fact he has no normal maps, no 3d pit, no texture quality whatsoever, and for 45 euros? i am utterly appalled and upset at peter for this. he puts the X-plane developer community to sham on this one. so he makes quality systems, bah, i want something more for my money too. The CRJ , once out will shake things up.
-
I say a good balance between polygons and textures wins every time. just look at the A380. it may have 1 million plus polygons but with that texture it doesn't look good at all. a good texture artist can make a 10k polygon plane look fantastically real looking. (Jrollon) I just hope they add Dynamic Reflections, and self shadowing to X-plane someday soon, as that will really make it shine over FSX any day.

Thanks guys. Yeah i can't wait to even see one in real life. My plane is, once i have enough money, which will probably be after release, is to go take a trip up to Canada and go see one, and maybe take a flight one one. Would be like a kid in a candy store on a real Q400.
-
ah so those things are overgrown static discharge wicks then. i c.
-
My Q400 thinks it is a helicopter. Anyway, she is coming along well now i think, i am so excited by the progress this past week. So far, as you can see by the images bellow, i have put the wings and engine nacelles into X-plane along with a milky white shaded texture. PLUS i have animated the control surfaces. I want to work on some texture stuff tomorrow, so expect another update soon.
-
very nice. what are those things on the tips of the wings?
-
boy, really nice. wish i was able to get you those pictures of the Malibu at my local airport i use to park near all the time, i wonder if it will ever come back. The plane actually looks pretty cool in person.

Uploaded a new video to youtube. I have refined and close to finished the Engine Display for the Q400. All the numbers on there should be correct and or similar to the real world plane now. I do wish i had a nice reflection to put in there to make it really awe! but that will come eventually. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525"></embed></object>

wow, man, Airbus, just think about how much money you could make by finishing this one. wow, i would buy it. looking really nice. If ya need any help, just ask.

hey guys, almost forgot to update here. not as many people viewing around here, but i like X-pilot forums so i will continue now to post updates here. Also, a lot of talent in these forums. remodeled the wing after getting some close up images of her. And as always now, the latest updates can be found at Flyingjackalsimulations.com

wow, very impressive. almost looks real. Woot, cant want to fly her.

Congrats to October "Best OF" at the org
Jack Skieczius replied to tkyler's topic in General Discussion
tom has a good point tho. if the .org is showing that that is the best of the best then no one is gonna come over to x-plane from FSX or even FS9. the .org is showing how bad x-plane is and is disgusts me. but on the other hand there are a ton of people who view the forums over there each day and for thati will post my work over there to gain attention. Advertising is also a nasty thing. many will go the lengths of telling others that their product has something fantastic that is merely not good at all just to get their attention and for them to buy the product. i hope we all dont have to resort to that, but i am sure tom your products speak words for themselves. Jack. -
Wow, the United livery is defiantly my favorite thus far, but they are all really good. Cant wait to fly her of course. will be so nice to have a really nice big jet to fly around again since my switching to X-plane several months back. I hope it wont be too pricey when its release but i am willing to pay for all the splendor this place has. great job Japo, you do the X-plane community proud. I am hopeing wen you release this i will have another tool in my arsenal to convince my FSX flying buddies to switch over to X-plane. lol.

OOOOhhh, AHHHH. Very nice lighting there jaop. very impressive. i see you to also noticed that when you take pictures in x-plane they seem to get darker. same for video it seems. cant wait to fly her, any word on when she may be released?
-
very nice interior. defiantly loving what i am seeing.

Wow, well for sure, she is a really sexy plane. very slick, nice curves. hehe. I wish you luck. she may be a small plane but the cockpit is still pretty complicated. The EFIS displays are interesting. you will eventually want to learn about generic instruments and how they can help you to build those displays. Or you can do some programing to make them, but as with all things, do what you think is best. There is defiantly a ton of things to learn about making planes for X-plane. I have spent the last 3 months learning about it all and i am sure i haven't learned it all. It is an adventure and I hope you stick with it, its fun and rewarding and the pc21 defiantly looks like it would be a fun plane to fly around. Best of luck, Jack.

Just a little update. Progress has been going well on the q400. I have gotten help now from a real world Q400 pilot who has provided me so far with the numbers such as Vref and landing figures among other things and he will continue to help. With his help my project here will be turning for the better as true to life flight dynamics can be possible. So for the next few weeks, if I am not modeling or making EFIS displays I will be testing and refining the flight model to perfection.

RealScenery Northern California
Jack Skieczius replied to RealScenery's topic in Northern California
very nice stuff. I take it tho there wont be any actual airport building included in this scenery will there? The scenery dose look nice tho, and i happen to fly around and out of the Sacramento area often on vatsim, so this will interest me some. -
Work still progresses on her. Here is the youtube video showing the prop assembly animation. still working on the cockpit geometry, perhaps i iwll have an update on that in a week or two. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525"></embed></object>

AP video from Helicopter flight at New Ulm Fly-in
Jack Skieczius replied to Jim Kallinen's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for those videos Jim. Very nice, and i love the quality of your camera too. is it HD? Was that your done in the "i'm a keeper" shirt? I hope to have a son one day so that i to can share the dream of flying with him. -
Thanks guys, i appreciate the comments. i posed another vid to youtube, here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<object width="445" height="364"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="445" height="364"></embed></object>Still no sound. sorry. I also have been working on the propellers and their animation. Basically, on Monday(after getting new data) i went thru and remade the entire propeller area, and all new blades. I textured and animated them as well. Bellow is an image of the left prop in planemaker. I will have more images/vids in a few days once i have the props complete.
-
The Engine Display was made in planemaker. all by using generic instruments. mostly with LEDs, Rotary, and needle. Since that video i have updated and tweeked the flight model alot and they are close to being more realistic then they were in that last vid.
