My Guestimate that if it were to be released this weekend the Optimum time for that would be between 5-7PM EST tonight. Gives users enough time to fly tonight and tomorrow. Tomorrow would be less ideal because people would be preparing for the week ahead, but it could be released tomorrow morning I suppose. Either way it will be done when it's done. Hard medicine to swallow though, especially when things seem done (at least from my standpoint).

I'd also like to do a few delivery flights to Europe or something, but I think I'll only cross the pond once, and then do the rest of the flights from EDI and pretend I crossed the pond on all of those too. All on VATSIM of course
-
So what are you guys planning for your first flights? For myself (other than test flights to learn) I think YUL-YHZ

Oh well, Such is life

Interesting to learn of new customs. If It came out tonight that would be exciting, but I won't hold my breath. (I've had dreams that it was released every night this week and woke up and rushed to the computer to check.)

You're gonna wait till september to fly the CRJ?? (or is Labour day different where you live??)

Three new liveries were released on our forum today

Backing away from the 7500, I've now read the manuals several times and am very much looking forward to it even more. Lets hope that installer bug on the mac got worked out and that we will be seeing her very soon. (And from my own personal gain, I hope it's tonight, since I have Thu/FRI off but have to work Sat-Mon. Not that I expect that it will be ready quite that soon) It's kind of neat to enjoy the pre release tension, though not so much for the developers.

I'm giving everyone lots of gas on their flight plans.

Not X-Plane but Real life (Since I'm at work). The re routing notices are pouring in. Finding good Alternate airports is.... interesting.

That's what I'm thinking. The quad core should help with the multi core threading that is used by X-Plane 10 and the CRJ, when they go 64 bit upgrade the RAM. the graphics card will probably be the first thing that gets outdated. however now is not a good time to buy a new Imac, since the update will be out in a few months. I'll try the CRJ and re evaluate. I've got a MBP so that is no slouch either...
-
I'm thinking about the Quad core Imac. It looks pretty sweet. If I get it I might get the 4 gb of RAM only and upgrade the RAM later. (When X-Plane goes 64 bit... Right now it can barely even use 4gb as it is...)

Unless you have a mac pro To be serious you can upgrade some things, like Memory.

The whole prop disc thing is a very interesting debate. the real pilots we talk to all love that they can see the prop pitching properly, from feather to disc to flight to reverse, and others really don't like it. As posted above you can swap the discs around to suit your own tastes, but from my own personal point of view, seeing the prop really WORK is so much more rewarding than a one pixel thick disc that blurs. Then again I like to see what effect my inputs are having on the plane, including flaps and landing gear performance. To each their own. Video is lovely BTW

Was bored at work so I came up with some routes for your delivery flights if you choose to make some. All flights are from CYUL where the aircraft is manufactured, and to either the main Hub or headquarters airport of the airlines involved. When it is released and I have the fuel planning tables I will re do these hopefully in the correct flight planning format, but in the meanwhile, here are the suggested routes! I hope this will be useful to somebody. I read these while flying home from YTZ, and not only are they informative I was actually laughing out loud at points. Great read, helped pass the time quite well.
-
That might be more complex than you think. If it was a case of just drop the plugin in the plugins folder and the aircraft in the aircraft folder, they would not need an installer in the first place.

Thanks for the clarification Cameron. Much appreciated.

The simple answer to why is it different is we changed it We tried all sorts of 2d props which look ok from the front and the back, but bad from the sides, and cause issues of making some clouds transparent. Then we tried a combination of 2d and 3d prop, which looked a bit better from the side but much worse from the front, and again had the issues with the cloud transparency. So Jack and I decided to get rid of the 2d prop completely, and it looks wonderful from the side, and good from the front, plus keeps the clouds as solid as they get . The side effect of that choice means that the prop looks still in screenshots. However, if you have a fast enough shutter speed it is completely possible to get real life photographs of the real plane that look almost the same as the x-plane screenshots. See for example: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/emnZaC1jF_4/0.jpg EDIT: Keep in mind that the 2d prop disc is only one pixel thick, so you can barely see them from the side.
-
We don't use a 2d prop disc, the props spin in 3d. Each screenshot only captures the prop as it is in that second, since X-Plane does not show the motion blur. Aside from bug fixes reported by users (very few fortunately), some of what we are planning includes: Adding in all of the EFIS display pages that can be selected by the flight deck crew Adding in more of the sounds that the plane actually makes (various cautions and warnings that X-Plane does not play) Completely simulating the Universal FMC that the Dash line of aircraft actually uses Continuing to add to the custom systems. As I've said before, all updates will of course be free to existing users. If you have any questions please feel free to ask

Jack and I have taken the note about the FMC seriously. We are waiting for the CRJ to evaluate the vasFMC option. The FMC is one of our top priorities. Rest assured that it will be worked as soon as we can. Have a good long weekend everyone!
-
Thank you Cameron. I appreciate the early documentation release.
-
For one I appreciate the Honest feedback from Simon and Chip. I'd like to thank them for taking their time to look her over and give us their opinions. As to continuing development, Jack and I have lots of plans on what to keep on building. We have additional EFIS Screens almost ready to go, we left them out because of frame rate issues that I was having, but now we seem to have them pretty well fixed. We are also discussing weather to adapt the vasFMC imbedded like the CRJ or write our own using Gizmo. Either option would be a very big and interesting challenge. We are waiting for the CRJ to come out before making a decision so we can fully evaluate it. Needless to say all future upgrades will be free for existing users.
