  1. Greetings All, I am pleased to announce the opening of a new x-plane blog and review site www.armchairaviation.com . Currently we have two reviews posted of payware aircraft with several more in the works, and a blog by yours truly on flight planning and vatsim online flying. We are hoping to share our joy of flying and x-plane with the rest of the world, so enjoy what we've posted. There is much more on the way! Cheers Joe Co Founder www.armchairaviation.com
  2. Bump with the same question. Any work being done on the mac version?
  3. Could be that your operating system is out of date. IIRC there were lots of graphics and multi threading fixes in 10.6
  4. Hey guys, This is more of a request than anything, since I am sure you have not started looking at the documentation yet, but I am hoping that when you do you will be able to include all of the flight planning charts. (Fuel/Range/Weight/Altitude/Station pressure/MTOW etc) I use them to do my own flight planning by hand to make sure I can still dispatch flights if the computers go down. (I also generate flight plans with them for others to use when going to fly ins, and would love to add the CRJ to my list of supported aircraft.) Cheers Joe
  5. My moving lights technology class coming into play. It has to do with how many times it can go around. It just so happens that the default plane was close to the limit. I just cranked it around the compass a few times and it's now good to go. I think it might be able to do 5 or 6 circuts, but if you're down at one end or the other it will stop at 0. Moving lights have something like 520 degrees of rotation. that might be what's going on here too.
  6. Great Plane Goran! Small spelling mistake on page 8 of the FCOM, You spelled Propellers with an O instead of an E (Propellor in the manual) this is the title of the propellors description page. Oh and it seems like the HDG selector knob only seems to go to 0. If I'm going from 330 to 020 I have to back around the compass as opposed to just going past 0. Anyone else notice this?
  7. New York and suburbs. Please!
  8. Right after that episode both of our lives got very busy. Mine has settled down a bit, I will have to see if Ben would want to keep going, if not I might try to carry it on by myself or find a new partner. (Simon or Chip perhaps )
  9. Tom, As I've expressed several times, I would appreciate it if you would not post these sorts of challenges to the .org moderating staff. Our job is not to regulate the store, nor to post reviews, nor to get involved in what happens between you and Cam and Nic. I don't mind telling you that the reason I for one would be wary of posting a review over at the .org is not because I fear Nic, or loosing my mod status, but rather because as I have become more and more aware of the arguments and debate, the less I want to come in the middle of it. I am confident that the divide will be resolved eventually, and when it is, I don't want to look back on it and find that I made it worse, or caused hurt feelings on one side or another. There are lots of people at the .org who I consider my friends, as I consider You, Cameron, Goran, Theo and Ben my friends here. I'd gladly host any of you if you came up to visit, and the last thing I want to do is get involved if I don't have to. I hope that you understand where I'm coming from. Thanks Joe
  10. DPNY, That's because audiophiles are not always musicians. Lots of engineers and techs in there too.
  11. Smart pilots have backups. GPS for Radios, or Radios for GPS. Who cares. In the interest of flight safety it is a smart move. /Aviation Professional mode I am sure as the sim increases it's capability, or indi goes crazy one day, we will eventually have a full Garmin, so it's smart to put it in there IMO.
  12. Please keep the reviews coming. Smart developers will look at it and say, "well Gee, I never thought of that" and fix it, or explain why they chose to do what they did and defend it. . Stupid developers will get angry and insult the review and the authors with ad hominem attacks. Ignore those people. We need you to keep everyone honest. You have my full support. Best Joe
  13. 2x1 in the CRA first class cabin. No first class in the 200 as far as I am aware. (I only happen to know this as I was on a CRA today.)
  14. So... The downloader works, the scenery is done... Any chance that the sceneries are going to come out soon?
  15. The weather model is being completely re done in XP10, so I am sure Turb is going to be looked at for that release fellas
  16. Right, But most of them only fly one or two aircraft. I know several that only fly the MD11 because they find that one hard enough, so to keep two in their heads is too much.
  17. Disclaimer: Those who know me will know that I am absolutely excited for more Study Sims of aircraft. In real life, Pilots go through mountains of time and effort to become "Type Rated" on one particular aircraft and system set, Be they the A32X Family, The 75/67, 737NG etc. Flight Sim Pilots become "Type Rated*" on all of the aircraft we fly. With the advance of complex and over 90% realistically modelled systems and aircraft will the Flight Sim Pilots hangar become more limited. If you have to invest lots of time and effort into learning each new aircraft, will you limit yourself to the two or three aircraft that you can know well? Real life pilots only maintain a type rating on one or two types of aircraft and undergo regular re training to maintain proficiency. Does having more complex aircraft limit the flight sim pilot? Discuss. * I use Type Rate to mean that the sim pilot has a through understanding of the operation of an aircraft and it's systems, much the same as a real airline pilot.
  18. Works fine here. Throttle moves full range and does what it's supposed to. Password field is open as others have mentioned. Other than that it seems pretty perfect.
  19. There is talk on AV CANADA about a possible one engine out situation. The number one engine is fully open and the number two was fully closed. (Exhaust vents) http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=66387
  20. He might have hit a wind gust that stalled the wings. Seems like it was windy, and from the clouds I have no doubt turbulent.
  21. Good news, The Pilot seems to be in good condition, so even though the plane is gone, he's still going to be ok.
  22. Dunno anything about it Goran. First I heard of the whole project was yesterday. It comes from being on Active service and the internet on base really really sucks, as I am sure you are aware from the quality of our Skype conversations. ( come to think of it, It has not worked for a week. Lucky I'm actually home now on weekend leave)
