  1. One needs to know where one is to get to know where one is going...? ???
  2. I did sim/flightmodel/failures/ but i've been looking for a while now as too what I can make the saab do. Right now, Im at rain and windshield ice which is in that dataref directory.
  3. Great idea! Maybe rename it something more texture sensitive for us who don't model
  4. Not claiming to be a expert in this department but just cos you have a 8 point plugbox, and you plug in 8 high power consuming appliances does that mean that your not going to blow a fuse. I'd imagine the same might apply to your situation.
  5. Quite a few but I hate them all. They were done about 3 years ago lol.
  6. Jesus himself would get pissed at my computer. I get spinning beach volley to initialize the type tool in photoshop. My computer actually makes a screaming noise when I import Goran's model's! When I started with X-Plane, (v8.15 if memory recalls), with my PowerPC G5 1.8Ghz Dual with 1.25 GB of ram and my 64mb nVidia 5200FX. Wasn't too bad in those days.
  7. X-Plane 10 will almost definitely bring a light source meaning you may be able to have the light dynamically going over the hangers with there new elements from there Version 10 Scenery SDK. That would also be great if you decide to do ground textures... Well done Ola. Looks great !
  8. Right ok that makes sense. 4 people have voted but only 2 have voted for both options. Ok that makes more sense...
  9. Hmm I have seen quite a few photo's that show at least some part of a terminal that you can match to Google earth. It doesn't have to be the whole side profile. But when it comes to scenery. If it looks to scale, no-one will complain. Just don't make your terminal the size of Big Company Inc
  10. 6 people have voted but forum only counts 4. Am i missing something blatantly obvious.
  11. I can confirm that turning up your AA to 4x will make it easier to read. I can read easily with 2x but i have a large wide-screen monitor.
  12. There's actually a easier way than that providing you have some side on pics. Model the base against the image. Measure it. Then count the units, x or y, and compare them to the 'z' units. most terminals are maybe 5:1 to 8:1... Its how I do my buildings but its quite difficult to describe through text
  13. Laughed for a while when i saw this:
  14. Got sick and tired of Saab generics tonight, so took the Duchess up for my first full flight... ever. I haven't even updated to 1.1 yet 8). LOWS - LOWI Just a couple of pics I snapped.
  15. Also remember that might not even be taken on Austins computer...
  16. Thats how i used to do it. Now I do more or less what jack describes in his tutorial. Though for such an old and beaten up plane, I would be inclined to do it the way you describe as you get those great little bumps and nic's from the UV map. Well done! Looks great.
  17. Also crisper textures would be nice. Ideally they would just be from high quality aerial photographs. We all know what a X-Plane City looks like but have taken the time to look at it in detail. Its random spots of grey and black from the simulator...
  18. I definately won't be. If they don't change the runways and ground, I will most likely change them myself . Don't worry, I'll share
  19. Big Corporation Inc! I love it
  20. Well done Jacoba, Good luck. With any luck i'll be in your position soon, Got 9 out of 10 in my latern test but still a fail so gonna go to Australia to do an easier one :. What airline have you been given employment with? +1 -TheoGregory
  21. X-Plane AI is dumb, very dumb. They fly around in the sky. That's about it. It has been confirmed that X-Plane 10 will have AI traffic and Proper ATC. And before you ask, X-Plane 10 is get released before christmas (hopefully)
  22. I like the 6 cores though. maybe ill get an intel equivalent. Yes I did know nVidia are better. Slipped my mind. As for the SLI, x-plane 10 is taking care of all your cores. I'm assuming it will take advantage of all your GPU's aswell. Though its a dumb idea to assume anything with Austin
  23. Well, i think its time that my solid workhorse PowerPC Dual 1.8ghz(256 mb card and 2gb of ram) goes into retirement. I'm changing to windows 7 for TrackIR, Better X-Plane FPS, Virus', Spyware and other goodies. So my questions are: What sort of performance could I expect from something like this: AMD PHENOM II X6 SIX-CORE 1090T CPU, 3.2GHz -or- (Intel equivalent) ATI HD5970 2GB Dual GPU Graphics Card Kingston 8GB DDR3-1333 And the second would I be able to have most of the options turned up (buildings, texture res, water reflection)? The last is a question of AMD (they seem like they're second to Intel). Would you recommend a Intel instead? I'm sick to death of walking down the toaster isle at my local Briscoes and seeing better technology inside the $59.00 Breville on the bottom shelf! I think i have the worst computer of all the X-Aviation Dev's (Cameron can correct me if i'm wrong) Thanks in advance for the answers
  24. Im gonna buy a playstation 3 purely to crash cars virtually after looking at that.
