  1. Very glad to hear some movement on the XPUIPC issue. This is a major plugin on the windows side of things, enabling access to a vast swathe of 3rd party apps for x-plane. I'll be very glad to be able to use the CRJ on our hub-hop event so long as a solution is out before it finishes in September.
  2. Looks good. My only gripe would be that the instrument markings look a little blurred / low res. Colours on them look quite authentic.
  3. simply amazing
  4. I think Goran has already stated his intention to make the wheel, float and ski variations.
  5. Thank you for taking the time to give such a detailed explanation.
  6. I know this is a work in progress Goran, and maybe it's the angle but those floats looks a little too far away from the plane - plus the back wheels I guess are how they look when not under load? I may be completely wrong Goran, but my first impression was: Front wheel looks a little large Angle of floats looks wrong (thus distance of float from fuse looks a little big) See from pics the float is closer at the back than the front of the plane. Floats from pics seem to hug the fuse more than in the model (this may be a shadow effect) Not picking at your work Goran, which I think is excellent - just want to see the best possible plane. As I say it's probably the angle and the fact it's not finished yet.
  7. I think you are right and that an agreement should have been worked out to license a Q400 specific gizmo so that having a licensed gizmo is not required for that plane. I can understand for freeware but this should have been included for payware (imho of course as I've stated before). I have a licensed version of gizmo so doesn't diretly affect me, but I stand by this principle, even if it had meant paying a couple of dollars more for the plane. More revenue for gizmo support, more development for it. I don't know if there are politics beind the scenes to make the x-aviation store more attractive by barring such an agreement, but I assume not, probaby just on negotiated license cost. I can understand the developer position too - why tag on a cost for people who already have a license for gizmo, but it's more appearance that counts I think.
  8. Keep up the good work Brendan. I'm a regular listener and I always enjoy the x-plane segments and discussions.
  9. Our pilots have been flying it for a while. Props to them for being patient while I waited for a sale to pick her up for repainting.

    XPUIPC

What Javier means is that while the CRJ used to crash with just XPUIPC sitting in the plugins folder, now it only crashes if you actually connect to XPUIPC from an app rather than it just sitting there. So dead XPUIPC = ok Using XPUIPC = crash
  11. it would be better to have the sounds running globally rather than aircraft specific like gizmo does, no? Or is there a likely conflict with other sound plugins?
  12. I'm sure there's a reason, but how comes the copilot's artificial horizon is 2d while the pilot side is a redone 3d model?
  13. I fly both FSX and X-plane regularly. I own a shedload of after market addons - most of x-aviation store, PMDG, OrbX (all FTX + a large nuber of airfields etc). PMDG do a great job, however in many respects you are also limited by the sim you are using. Example: the NGX has night lighting which emulates that found in x-plane, but because of the round peg, square hole issue, the lights move up and down in discrete steps which is nowhere near as good as x-plane's in-built lighting - amazing for FSX however. PMDG aircraft simulations are fantastic, and they fly believably when inside a narrow envelope. However, I've had occasions when the MD-11 has flown in a way that was to me, a joke and this is about the best of the best in FSX. Good payware in X-plne has a continually fluid flight model, so out of the box is better. The CRJ-200 Flight model is far superior to anything I have flown in FS, PMDG et al included. Nothing PMDG do in FSX is not possible in x-plane - it's all external coding after all - we're not talking about a simulator restriction and indeed the base x-plane is more advanced than the base FSX. I also think that it's easier to make addons for x-plane than it is for FSX (*from objective viewing only, based on speed to market). It comes down to whether someone will make it or not. That's the bottom line. Currently, X-plane doesn't have a PMDG systems simulation level product (or even A2A), but it's been catching up fast for a long time, so I shall wait and see.
  14. Good on you Mid7night. I'm not a customer because I don't fly this sort of aircraft, but you're right that the flight model is a very important aspect of an aircraft add-on. Would love to see you team up with a modeller/texturer to produce 'full-fat' (and thus higher priced) add-ons. Like Peter did with Ramezess on the A380 pit. Incredible duos appear to be all the rage at the moment.
  15. Its more CPU than GPU in FSX and it was released right at the point that we went multi core, it's ancient now really. My rig runs both sims fine as long as I don't push the settings to high in either, although I prefer x-plane for the flight characteristics and FSX for the eyecandy and mature addon market. If OrbX was for x-plane, then wow. FSBreak do report on x-plane and the CRJ has been covered several times now - it's really one of the three main contributors though - the other two run a video training company that's fsx oriented. PMDG system simulation still has the edge on anything we have in x-plane (they've been doing it longer), but x-plane's aircraft handling is much better than FSX's - hand flying some FSX top end payware can feel very wrong (MD-11, AirbusX). Cockpits can look much better in x-plane and I prefer the 3d there. Here's to more decent simulations coming for x-plane (and for the last few issues to be ironed out on the crj). Roll on X-Plane 10, Flight and Aerosoft Flight Sim 2012
  16. Excellent news Philip. I can give you our flight logger, but you would need an installation of either fs9 or fsx for it to build it's nav database from (x-plane database support is pending) for initial setup. If that's ok, then let me know and I'll send that and set up a test account. Otherwise I'll hunt for another free application that I can confirm causes a crash as FSCommander is neither free nor cheap.
  17. Surely the XPUIPC fix isn't working as it only allows XPUIPC to sit in the plugins folder. Are there any apps that when connected to XPUIPC do not cause a crash? My understanding is that XPUIPC when idle now doesn't cause a crash in 1.1, but XPUIPC when in use still does. The apps connected via XPUIPC are not talking to x-plane, they are talking to XPUIPC after all. Mine don't even run on the same machine, but on a remote machine via XPWideClient.
  18. Try moving your preferences to desktop and seeing if frames jump up when rebuit. Can always move back if not.
  19. This did happen with 1.0 as well. XPUIPC was identified as a problem and 1.1 made an attempt to fix (same problem as with some other plugin inompatibility I think). It now looks like just running XPUIPC in the plugins folder may be ok (when it doesn't do whatever it does when connected??), but when used to interface still crashes the sim. I understand, and while I could live without FSCommander connected, I need the flight logger to record the flights for the VA, so it looks like I may have to wait until 1.2 or later before flying. The other apps are only talking to XPUIPC, so whatever is causing the problem is most likely related to the CRJ and XPUIPC still not getting on. I'd be happy to run a debug version of CRJ to record more information when the crashes occur.
  20. Cold and dark. Loaded and left with default view without apps connected to XPUIPC, seemed fine for over an hour, then I connected FSCommander 9 and my VAs FLight Logger on my laptop over XPWideClient and it CTD'd within a further ~15mins. The main pc wasn't touched after initial load. Attached the log file, no crash log was produced. (The other chap in my VA who reports the crash issue runs the flight logger on the same PC as X-plane I believe, so that may well not be a factor, and I've had the crash with just FSCommander 9 connected) Log.txt
  21. I've tested this more today with the above plugins and even leaving the crj on the ramp without doing anything results in a ctd at some point - sometimes 15 minutes in, sometimes an hour or so.
  22. I had a crash to desktop on windows 7 x64 yesterday, no crash_log produced, and occurred after the sim had been running for a good 1-2 hours. I was only running FSCommander over XPUIPC over network on my laptop. I also have a report from another VA pilot that he had 2x crashes when using our VA flight logger application on windows over XPUIPC. If you wish to test, you can download from here: http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/forum/index.php?action=media;sa=media;in=650;dl PM me if you wish to test and I'll create a test account in the VA for you to use to sign in and record flights.
  23. Ah that's encouraging to hear - is there a plugin you know of that autosaves in this manner every x minutes? EDIT - I see from the SDK there's: XPLMSaveDataFile so should be fairly easy to do. Might even be able to myself if I get my compiler set up again. But better not to reinvent the wheel if it already exists.
  24. I just had the sim CTD to me on a flight in the CRJ. On FSX I use the autosave feature in FSUIPC (registered) to autosave the flight every few minutes, then in the event of a crash I simply load the lasst saved flight and continue. Is there a plugin that does the same for x-plane? Is it even possible (saving a flight and restarting in the air?) I understand I may have to load the flightplan into the CRJ and set up the status of the plane as I don't think it supports state saving. (yet).
  25. Very nice Goran. This is a popular plane too.
