We both appreciate the comments, gentlemen. I got asked "But how does it look in sim?" Well, here it is. A quick export.
-
Wouldn't mind making that, actually.

Ok, first, some clarification and a request. Both Theo and myself do this aircraft development full time. And when I say full time, I mean at least 9 hours a day, 6 days a week. Me? I do 7 days a week. So we have come up with a work schedule that suits us both and we always have something to do. So here's what's been happening. Theo has nothing to do on the Sundowner update at the moment. I'm working on the majority of it. The Saab is getting some rebuilding done. Better detail in the mesh. So Theo cannot do anything on that until I finish with it. So Theo opted to do some texturing on the 747. Before you look at it, I would like to ask a favor. Please do not ask Theo, Cameron or myself for any kind of release dates on the 747. I have gotten a few emails from some of you asking for a release date and the truth is, we don't know. What I am aiming for is sometime before end of the year. That usually means + 2 or 3 months past the expected release date. We have been extremely busy with other things which will be known very soon. But for now, here is the very first screenshot of a fully textured 747-200 throttle console. Theo's texturing and my 3D model. As always, comments are welcome.
-
CTOT still needs to be programmed. Some textures will be re done and some of the 3D mesh will be re done as well. Flight model is done. If we sit and work on it non stop from today, without the programming, it would take about another 6-8 weeks to finish. I know I said it would be ready a lot earlier but we are discovering new things and how to make them work. Theo's texturing is getting damn freaky lately too so that's why he wants to go back and re do some stuff. I can't elaborate on what we have done yet. But I will be throwing up some screenshots soon. When I saw what Theo did, it sure as hell took me by surprise.
-
Not for long... It's nowhere near ready yet. But I'll be posting something up soon.
-
If you've selected to receive the newsletter from X-Aviation, you will get an email with news of the Saab coming out. Keep an eye on these forums in the next few days. A few things are going to be mentioned. We're hoping you won't be disappointed. We just have to get a few things organised before mentioning anything. Put it this way...Both Theo and I have been working pretty much non stop since the Sundowner has been released.

Throw up a screenshot of your Settings tab in x-plane. Could be your AA or AF.

X-Aviation's Super Aircraft Sale! 50% Off Specials!
Goran_M replied to Cameron's topic in General Discussion
I might jump in here, Wolfgang. I can certainly understand your frustration, but sales happen everywhere. If you buy a new leather jacket from a store and a week later they have a closing down sale, would you go back to them and tell them your frustrations? Truth is, none of us know when the sales are going to happen. Not even Cameron. There will probably be sale at Christmas for some developers. Maybe a sale for a developers birthday. Maybe an event. It could be anything. But we certainly don't advertise a certain price and deliberately throw up a sale later on to make people frustrated. It's all about supporting the flight sim industry. We developers cannot do this for free and I feel safe in speaking for every other developer here, we are grateful for anyone who is gracious enough to buy our products. On the flip side, you could always wait for another sale. But no one will be able to tell you when it will happen as we don't even know. Some products will be initially sold at a discounted price upon release, so keep an eye out for the newsletter and be sure to snap them up at the cheaper price when they are released before they go to full price again. -
Would you like a list? Maybe not. I'll give you one. He's a liar. 1st lie: Boeing would never officially license the 787 that he is now selling. 2nd lie: He said he didn't know who hacked into the org forums and edited the posts directing people to x-aviation with regards to REX. He also said he would investigate the issue. Nothing has been resolved and we are still none the wiser. If you want more reasons, I'll be happy to PM them to you as I don't really want to hijack Javiers CRJ thread with talk about Nicolas.

Yes there is.

Hey Rush Did you read my whole post? Aileron trim has been added. Just have to finish modelling the 3D mesh for it.
-
The left turning tendency is an engine torque issue. I have modeled a new 3D mesh console for the floor that has an aileron trim added. This should also help in the descent, slight right roll.. The Sundowner has a very pronounced nose down attitude with flaps. It shouldn't pitch down so much that you nearly run out of trim, so I will have to look at that. Engine speeds you describe are certainly strange. I will definitely look into that as well. Keep in mind, this add on was made with X-Plane 9.40 so some things may have changed in 9.55 onwards. An update will be ready very soon. We have fixed the texture issues so load times should be faster. Aileron trim has been added to the flight model. The mesh will be extensively improved. Panel has been rebuilt. A few more flight model things to look at and it will be ready. Thanks heaps for the feedback. We'll make sure we iron all these issues out.

Maybe I should add a feature list to my sundowner. Correctly positioned wings. Spinning propeller. Working Radios. Wheels rotating as they should. Etc....
-
I think a decent Sydney Airport is in order, Simon. The freeware version at the org has a voracious appetite for framerates.

Mikkel There is no doubt some add ons for FSX and FS9 are extremely high quality and are much better than X-Planes 3rd party add ons. However, what struck me was peoples comments that when making a true comparison between the simulators, take out all the add ons and just compare them straight out of the box. And I remember more than a few people say in various forums, that when this kind of comparison is done, FS9 leaves X-Plane "in the dust". In no way do I want this to be a X-Plane vs FS9 thread. I was simply making an observation based on other peoples comments. I have all the MSFS's from FS98. But imho, FS9 does not leave X-Plane "in the dust" when comparing straight out of the box.
-
Both valid points. However, my point was, I see many FS9 veterans still say that X-Plane doesn't even compare to FS9 with no add ons. I read just about all the forums out there. And that is the common thread. A mod who is involved with a very well known add on for FS9 and FSX even had the nerve to show his sarcastic side while drawing a comparison. I would love to fire up FSX to take a few screenshots of that, but I don't have it installed and it takes about half an hour to have it installed. And correct me if I'm wrong, but the X-Plane default Cessna is from V7, I think. And it looks the same now as it did back then. That was quite a while ago. Perhaps around the same time as FS9 Again, I'm not in this to bash FS9 or FSX. They both have their pro's and cons and people have the right to choose. But seriously, FS9 "smashing" X-Plane? I don't think so.
-
I was working with Theo today and was uploading something to him in Dropbox. I felt like taking a small break so I decided to fire up FS9 purely out of curiosity as I had forgotten what it looked like. Turns out I wasn't missing much. I quickly drew a few comparisons between the default Cessna 172 in both simulators. It amazes me how the FS9 fans keep saying if you put x-plane and FS9 side by side and compare default aircraft, FS9 smashes X-Plane. Keeping in mind, my X-Plane settings are at roughly half that of FS9 settings. My FS9 settings are totally maxed out. Anyone tell me what's wrong with this picture? Anybody at all? LOL? FS9 X-PLANE

When I originally made the Sundowner, I was very much against an update. I wanted everything done right the first time. But now that I'm finding out new things, I plan on making this update the final update. In saying that, It will be ready in approximately 3-6 weeks. It sounds like a long time, but it will look like an entirely new Sundowner.
-
The Sundowner is being worked on and is getting a rather large upgrade. Systems refinement, readability of gauges, AILERON TRIM, better looking mesh in a few places, flight model adjustments, faster loading times, better framerates, possibly a new night lighting texture (Theo's experimenting) and a few texture fixes. The G36 will have all this as well, plus a few extras.
-
Weird. Perhaps check out the org and see if anyone else has the same problem and if there are any solutions.
-
Very unusual. I just updated to the latest version and the altimeters work on the aforementioned Cessna as well as all my current projects. As was mentioned, deleting preferences will probably fix it. Looks like an x-plane thing. Not a developer thing.
-
I saw that a few days ago. Hardly surprising since Nicolas co runs the avsim store. Talk about being able to pull some strings.
-
As was said earlier, must be that same pesky hacker that did the post editing a few months ago. I wonder if Nicolas is going to do an investigation into this one now. : Will, Ben or Joe...Would any of you care to elaborate on why these posts were deleted?
-
Care to do a copy and paste the comments over here in this forum? I can't go to the org anymore as I have been banned.

My very first payware aircraft for FS2000 was a 747-400 made by PSS. For its time, it was absolutely brilliant. It seems "orgware" is a word we should be getting used to.
