  1. A few of us devs (no names) have been having a running joke at who has gained the most pounds since starting add on development. I used to be a real gym junkie before starting this. Now I sit at my desk and do very little activity so it's obvious I've gained a few pounds. But THIS is ridiculous!
  2. The "best" scenery in x plane? No night textures. misaligned runways and taxiways I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Lol, patience guys, patience. I'll throw up an update... We're at the point now where it can take up to a day to test and re code just 1 system. There are about 15 systems. Most are working but a few need a bit of refining and there have been a couple more added. The code has been made more efficient and condensed. Once the coding is done, that's it. Testing will take a few days, if that. Also, a new bit of info. A few days ago we had a small meeting about the difficulty of navigating using just VOR and NDB stations or following the numbers based on flight plans, speed and time. I did take the Saab for a bit of a trip about a week ago and I can tell you, it can be a challenge to fly. This isn't a "set it and forget it" aircraft. You have to monitor quite a few things on takeoff and cruise, especially navigating. So, in saying that, we'll probably be making 2 versions of the Saab. A Saab with 2 Garmin 430's and a Saab without any Garmins. So you can choose which one you would like to fly. There were a few 340A's with 2 Garmins on the center console back in the 80's and 90's Doing this will add literally no extra time since the Garmin has already been made and added to the UV map a lot earlier in the development. Not long guys.
  4. Something about stealing the MU 2, PMDG aircraft, Captain Sim aircraft and aerosoft aircraft via torrents. Basically, he's saying "I'm a moron. Please re-enforce my belief!"
  5. I didn't think people were even born this stupid. I'm monumentally amazed. How's that for chiming in?

This is pretty much the home stretch. Everything else is 100% done. I want to minimize testing time by making sure most of it works properly. Testing will be for flight model and any smaller details I might have missed.

All the "necessary" coding is done but we're adding a few extra bits and pieces to the systems. By doing this, it will cut testing time down so we don't have to go back and re do stuff.
  9. It will be issued along with the Sundowner update in the coming weeks.
  10. 45000 faces for just the fuselage without a wingbox is too much. Faces are quads. When it gets exported to X Plane, the quads get triangulated so you double that figure. Then you will have to double that again for the interior surface. So 180 000 tri's (polygons) for just the fuselage is far too much.

First off, thanks for the comments, gentlemen. We don't plan on adding anymore liveries to the initial package. We may add more in the coming weeks after the Saab is finished. We don't have a failures module for this aircraft. All failures are controlled by X Planes default failures. However, the way the EADI's and Radios work in the real aircraft are from 3 Avionics Buses. Left, Essential and Right. For this, Theo had to create plug ins using Gizmo. Basically, Left Bus powers up the Captains EADI, Right Bus powers up the Co Pilots EADI and Essential Bus powers the Radios. All 3 Bus switches are on the overhead.

Do you have any idea how long I was waiting for someone to ask that question?! In some cases, yes. But Theo being Theo, wants to add "character". (Remember the cracked LCD glass on the Sundowner?) Check out the nose. There are quite a few of them with misaligned paint on the radome covers. I'm assuming they take from other NW Saabs and "transplant".

Thanks for that, Joe! Theo takes full credit for the logo. I saw it a while ago and I told him not to change anything about it. I honestly couldn't have done all this without him. (Now he's going to rub it in!)

Final testing begins Monday. These screenshots represent nearly all the final liveries we have. The missing one is the Saab House livery. Just making a few small adjustments to that one. 01/15 edit After scrutinizing the images, we want to adjust a few things. Final images pending. My sincerest apologies for pulling them. We'll put new ones up asafp!
  16. It's an extremely ambitious first project for you. I would like to suggest you start with something a lot smaller so you can learn whatever there is to learn. If you are very eager to start with a 747-400, then I would like to suggest you learn enough about Blender so you have at least an intermediate level of 3D modelling knowledge. There are no secrets or tricks to making these 3D models. It takes a lot of work, practise and dedication. Good luck.
  17. I never have specific timeframes anymore. My rough timeframe is, whatever wins the vote, will be finished sometime in the next 3-5 months. But I need to know soon so I can start planning. That's why I started the poll when I did. Gives people time to vote while I finish the Saab and both updates to the Duchess and Sundowner. It also gives me time to start getting maintenance manuals (which are not easy to get).
  18. The DC3 has no subsurf on it and most likely never will. The Duke does have some. Purely for experimental purposes.
  19. Brisbanes river banks broke yesterday and the order was placed to evacuate the CBD. The worst flood in 35 years. Back then, the Brisbane river peaked at 20 meters. These floods have it peaked at 21 meters and still climbing. Pretty serious considering the deepest point is about 12 meters (40 feet). At least 10 people have died (including 4 children) at last count.
  20. Found them... http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=1432.msg15100#msg15100
  21. Found my other screenshots of the DC-3 and Beechcraft Duke that I thought I'd lost. These were mostly me practicing new techniques in modelling. Making "manifold" joins, smooth surfaces, etc...
  22. The F-14 is not as easy as people might think. I thought it was. Until I got my hands on the Pilots manual. 900+ pages The systems in this thing are very in depth I also have a few diagrams... We'll see what happens.
  23. We're on the same team, guys. Some things are better said in PM's.
  24. Q or E will stop the crazy movement. Q will then move your view left E moves right After pressing either key, you can do what you like in the cockpit.

Thought I might post the latest batch of screenshots with "enhanced" textures. They are enhanced because, as Theo does the texturing on a Mac, the textures come out washed out on my computer, which runs Windows. Without going into details, it has to do with the Gamma setting. I used to set my Gamma to 1.8 in sim but this is not recommended. So I set it back up to 2.5 (default) and had to do a lot of adjustments. The finished product will look the same in either Mac, Windows or Linux. Still tying up a few loose ends with regards to animations, code and textures. If it's not finished before the end of January, I'm leaping into a volcano!
